I was an alcoholic who popped vicodin and snorted coke almost every day. 28 years old. No kids, no home, no job, no car, and no self respect. My dad came home from work one day and saw me passed out on the sofa at 4:30 pm. He slammed his lunchbox and hat on the ground. Got in my face and said _"You have TWO WEEKS to do something with yourself or you are out of my f**king house! When I was your age, I had a job, a wife, kids, a house and 2 cars. YOU Don't HAVE A GODDAMN THING TO YOUR NAME!!"_ Well, I ended up joining the Navy. Dad and my sister didn't believe I would go through with it, so had to prove them wrong. Flew out of New Orleans a week later to bootcamp in Great Lakes, Illinois. It was basically a forced detox I could not back out of. Insulted right to my face while having cold sweats, forced to exercise, run, etc. In the end of it all, dad showed up to bootcamp graduation with pride and ever since then he was really cool to me. Now I have a car, a home, a wife, an 8yr old son, and dignity. RIP dad, thanks for setting me straight.

How much were you drinking? Because i know a lot of people who "want to", but the issue is, they drink so much that quitting cold turkey would literally kill them from DTs.

@@tinybadastronaut I was drinking 6 airplane bottles (shots), of Tito’s and a bottle of Cabernet every day. On a good night 2 bottles. 42.00 per day x 7 days x 52 weeks. @tinybadastronaut that's my issue right now. The "want/need to" voice is screaming at me. Problem is, I'm drinking shots of 80 proof vodka basically every single day. If not that, than multiple beers. I need to quit, but if go cold turkey, I absolutely will die, as I've been drinking this way for damn near 5 years, daily. A fifth or more each day. I have no excuse, just a lack of self control. All I see is, tapering off, but it's easy to get caught up drinking more than a couple beers until I decide that I don't need it, or I'm no longer dependent upon it. It sucks, but I did it to myself, so I must fix it.

People just don't understand what free will truly is. We have the free will to die a painful slow death from drinking, because we're too stubborn to put in the LEGIT effort to quit......and we also have the free will to stop if we TRULY IN OUR HEART desires it. It's our choice in the end. They started calling alcoholism a disease to further keep us enslaved to ourselves. If it's a disease it's not our fault but if that's bs, and it is, then that means the responsibility is back on us. People hate admitting they messed up though.......but they did. And facts are facts.

That is sort of what a hypnotist can do. During a quit smoking hypnotist, they asked each person to think of the most disgusting, awful thing. Toilet seat covered in vomit or whatever it is. To keep that focus and go into your cave, your safe place. It's been a long time ago. But I came out of there after smoking for over a decade, and went to the bar. (the quit smoking thing was in a hotel that had a bar). I was two hours in, drinking, when I noticed I hadn't once lit up a cigarette or needed too. The next day, I ate breakfast, ate my meals... nothing. If you know anything about smokers, is that after eating, it's smoke time. There was no desire to do that anymore.

I think witnessing what alcoholism done to my Maternal Grandfather(it killed Him) and other family members on my Father’s side, is why I don’t drink. I hated not getting to know my grandfather as a sober man, He was always drunk, the most time I spent with Him was before He died, His mind was gone from years of alcoholism. Drug addiction was also on both sides of my family, lost 4 cousins from it. Addiction runs on both sides of my family, I am thankful it did not take hold on me.

I worked as a nurse in a rehab facility in the early 80's. Detoxing for people who drink heavily for years has to be done under a doctor's care. The 3rd day is usually when seizures start. Dilantin is usually given to stop them. For anyone who thinks they can detox at home, I would say it's a bad idea and a horrible experience. Delirium Tremens are serious and scary. I'm kinda hesitant to believe in hypnotherapy, but I don't know a lot about it. Whatever works and keeps you sober.

what about 1 year of drinking everyday? is detox necessary?
@beckoninglight16
@beckoninglight16 5 месяцев назад
It really depends on the type of drinker a person is. If someone drinks daily very heavy amounts of liquor for a long period of time, withdrawals might be there. If someone drinks from the time they get up to bed time, they will definitely be at risk for seizures and delirium...on the other hand, there are some alcohol abusers who only drink every other day or several days a week heavily and quitting can have mild side effects. The main thing is mental for them. I agree ppl should discuss it with a doctor regardless.

I learned so much from him. He taught me that there are certain people you can’t help and don’t deal with them. I saw him kick a couple out of his office one day. You HAVE to be hospitalized if you are in that deep and it's not as much as you think it would be. My stepdad had a stroke when he quit drinking and had to go on Ativan for 15 days to get through it. You can't just tell people stuff like what your comment says because it could end their life. Don't give advice you don't understand

I was a deputy working in the hospital @ Mens Central Jail in L.A. in the '80's.I figure I tied down well over 300 alcoholics. They would have died w/o medical intervention. Some died anyway. These were the worst of the worst, many with chronic liver disease, horrible abscesses, parasites & completely disoriented. The protocol required them to be medicated, usually with Librium & other drugs. Most heroin addicts got very little in the way of detox drugs, sometimes muscle relaxants. Alcohol was the WORST drug to detox from with the crack epidemic in full roar by then. Horrible. In about '80 we started being buried with PCP cases & AIDS patients, in addition to the routine suicidal & pschycotics-gallons of Haldol, Cogentin, phenobarb., Thorazine & a few others. I recall Qualudes causing severe problems for inmates addicted to it. Bad times.

@@YouAccount222 thank you for your your warm reply. To answer the question yes it is better then fixable to the participants who want to end their dependency. For the ones I've worked in the past we identify any emotional issues that need repaired and then they are taught a method to replace the need of the drug for their body to release those good feeling pleasurable natural chemicals in the body to allow the brain at will to experience a euphoric State without the need for outside drugs.

There is no quitting opiates without withdrawal, hypnotized or otherwise. It's an impossibility.
@angellkiller9773
@angellkiller9773 6 месяцев назад
@@user-ht9go4yg7w that's a very limited approach meaning your accumulated knowledge comes from business or corporations or religion and knowledge from these sources limit you ability to proceed into what is truly "possible" It reminds me of my mother who is a die-hard Jehovah's witness she went through 4 years of chemotherapy also she suffered from deep depression and hypochondria she is a perfect example of someone brainwashed by the system. Even though I offered her help in the beginning her teachings throughout life from made her think maybe I was a quack maybe I was doing something with the devil etc whatever. We will fast forward it to the point that she had a rupture in the lining of her stomach and began to bleed out internally due to treatments drugs and more they Corsed the leak but she had less then 4 hemoglobin and would not accept blood So she went to the hospice to die with an estimated 2week to a month to die. One of your "impossible" situations. So even though I went to Arkansas pretty much to watch her die for a year when I finally learned she only had a couple weeks left I planned my return back to California. But on her second week of being in the hospice and bald as an eagle chemotherapy..... She was abandoned by medicine refused blood transfusions and I offered her a choice do you want to heal or are you ok with dieing my life path let me be ok either way. She was at that pivotal point over some people do end up and she said screw it. I re-adjusted her neck and back like a chiropractor only I learned thru the healers approach and not the 6 month of you paying me approach from universities.... Changed her water gave her one vegetable juice smoothie every 2 days 3 times total and then had two conversations with her that recalibrated her subconscious for living to put it in short so the subconscious could heal I left as planned on the 2nd week ok get better bye. A month later she was released from hospice healthy / very stable 2 or 3 months in assisted living non of us are rich lol not everything is greed. And that was the end of 2017. Since then cancer free lowers depression even with her horrible thought on relationships decided to remarry after 20+ years of celibacy. Which is my favorite success story for the ignorant not my best story by far I've had people in wheelchairs repair and walk I have muscular dystrophy and can do hard labor the list goes on and on. True she went back to being brainwashed by her religion still and I most likely will not be able to help her on another situation which she undoubtedly will find herself in as is the process of mental input. It's limiting though when you say that it can't be done or it is impossible that only means that someone's going to have to wait till the day that you have no other options from the people teaching you that it is impossible and pray that someone is there that day that can fix you before you die. So let's just start off by saying there's a lot you don't know. Your knowledge of life in this body starts as a full-grown baby to death my knowledge of this life started at the size of a semen and an egg less than a grain of salt. You see any screen and the picture on it. I see the binary 01001,00100,00 that create everything you see and just as mysterious as people see that code and call it DNA lol lol still have no clue how to interact with the programmer. My process is to interact with the programmer. Hypnosis is only the toe in the door and a big toe it is. To sum up you should look up the below statement. Then PLEASE REMEMBER YOU APPEAR IGNORANT AF WITH YOUR SHORT STATEMENT OF IT'S IMPOSSIBLE. SAY I DON'T BELIEVE ITS POSSIBLE SO OTHERS KNOW ITS BASED ON YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND INTERACTIONS AND READINGS AND FINDINGS THU WHO YOU CONSSIDER CREDIBLE. Even a trusted source is still a opinion driven statement. In the very first hypnotism studies I'd gone thru we learned about how hypnosis was implemented in the battle field for amputations. No meds. P. S I had plenty of people come to me when I had my last place of business for people who needed to heal to come to and these people wanted to believe it was impossible I offered a guarantee to my services does your doctor offer one.... And even though their intent was to prove me wrong when I finally said are you willing to give it a biased opinion and not focus on improving me wrong but correct your problem they would end up bringing me more people.

I smoked for 25 years and I went to a group hypnotist at the red lion in Modesto California. The room was full and this class was a 99% success rate so I figured well let’s give it a try so two hours later a bunch of people probably around 100 of us walked out of there, breaking up and throwing away what cigarettes we had brought with us. I was thoroughly convinced that I could quit smoking this time with a little issue. And I did the first two weeks were rather hard but I was able to do that, my insurance also gave me a rebate on the class, so I was not out of pocket. I’ve now been clean for 28 years with no relapses and it’s the best idea I ever had. I had tried cold, turkey I tried cutting back I had tried acupuncture. Hipnosis was the only thing that worked for me.

The guy told everyone to begin smoking 🚬 and really enjoy it .... a lot. The man had a gas mask type thing on his face/head. What happened? My dad never smoked another cigarette again. Never. Yesterday was my 1st day not drinking. I started drinking when I was 17 years old, I'm 40 years old now. I came from a trouble home, so I would use alcohol to cope with stress (very bad, I know). Taking it 1 day at a time, joining AA meetings, working out, & getting back into painting/drawing to fill my time that used to be spent drinking. My advice to young people is to stop while you're ahead, especially if alcoholism runs in your family. Alcohol takes a toll on your body. By the grace of God, I had brains enough to never drink & drive, & never been arrested (knock on wood).

I'm inspired by all the people in the comments who are sharing their sobriety stories. It's a tough gig. I've been a detox nurse most of my life and I've seen it all. I've seen them come and go and succeed and fail. But everyone needs to remember ONE THING. That urge _never_ goes away completely. We had a drug and alcohol counselor who had been sober for 39 years. One day, I came to work to find him in a bed as a patient! I said, "what happened?! You were just about to hit your 40 year chip!?" He looked straight at me and said that he had the worst fight with his wife ever (at Christmas) People, just stay focused and _never_ let your guard down. You'd be shocked at how long some have gone without, only to land back in the shit face first. _Stay true to your loved ones if you can't stay true to yourself!_
