My first introduction to Dragunov was Tekken 6, and his pale-ass skin, creepy grunts and overall demeanor made me think he was a vampire for a long, long time. The stage I always fought him in in Arcade Mode was the cemetery, which didn't help.

I actually agree with this video, used to play drag in tag2 with kaz as secondary. I find lowering a characters execution makes it feel less rewarding especially when you have already put the time to learn the hard stuff in the past, it's a very deflating feeling. Combine that with over buffing his key moves and what you have is a character that is now easy and bland. Sorta like a kazumi....
@2000Doriyas
@2000Doriyas 5 лет назад
At least with Kazumi that was her intended design. Drag has a lot of cool moves people don’t utilize but that’s changed somewhat since season 2, still he has some high execution for extended wall carry combos.

A small elaboration: You can iWS4 from CH WR2 or db2,1,2 to juggle in T7 as well, and the combos work pretty similiarly to TAG2, but for whatever reason you get less damage that way in T7 (as opposed to picking up with d2). Would have been cool if you still had the option to do the easier pickups for the combos for smaller damage, but to get max damage you needed to do the more technical stuff in T7. Edit: What I said applies to CH WR2 but db 2,1,2 still requires a pretty hard iWS4 pickup to get max damage out of it.

After CH WR2 even QCF2 hits, but you need an execution to land qcf2, 3,1, 1, f3 df crouch cancel into 4,4, it's pretty technical. If you want a wall carry you still need to do crouch cancel combos in T7. MainMan shows his ignorance on this front here.

Yeah, he had several execution barriers that made him satisfying to play in T6 and TTT2. In T7 he became mundane and brain dead. What a travesty. In a way Dragunov feels like he operates the way he was envisioned now. Aggressive, bullying, and powerful where he doesn't require finesse to do big damage, just knowing how to keep your opponent in check. It just happens to come at the expense of his character complexity and room for creative play. All the Dragunovs I see now play the same (axe handle smash, WR 2, d+2, try for throw mixups). It's a narrow lane where everyone is adhering to the same script. I can't help but think something was lost.

Here’s the thing people. Execution is muscle memory. And T7 is geared towards offense, like angry ungga bungga offense. And who’s one of the better ungga bungga guys? Dragunov. He has so much Super moves as mainman calls them and simplifies the gameplan which is the difficult part. Mishimas have the same burden and gift. Which is why Kazuya somehow becomes an easy character and a hard character at the same time. Mostly hard but when you’re rolling you’re hard to stop. At short sets, with a few lucky 50/50s you win. Medium length sets is where Mishimas struggle the most and they excel so hard with long sets, because hopefully by then you might have downloaded your opponent’s patterns

I been using Dragunov since t5 and I'll never drop him as my main. I hated the ch wr2 back then because it's so inconsistent to combo but I miss the ff2 bound because that makes him difficult like King's ff1 in T7.

lots of execution for drag? man, please. the character was a spamming, scrub friendly annoyance. now tekken 7 is out, most drag players, like bob and lars mains disappeared. only the genuine ones stuck with their nerfed characters.

easier execution? well ....for the sake of online competition i guess? i remember when in tekken 5 when you have to VERY SKILLFULLY use 5 - 6 jabs just to get your opponents to the wall we call it "jabble" instead of juggle for laughs

You can get a full combo off Dragunov db3 in Tag 2 by doing crouch cancel iws4. Not practical but cool to know
@SalvadorSTMZ
@SalvadorSTMZ 5 лет назад
1. Db 212 is not reliable at all in T7 either. 2. You still need to dash after a wr2 ch to get a d2 or ws4 combo lots of times in t7. 3. Dragunov was already nerfed heavily which is why his pickrate is garbage compared to his former self. Yeah JDCR loves him but does he ever pick him in tournaments anymore? Simply no. Nobi barely uses him. Noroma barely uses him. There hasn't been any significant placings in tournaments where dragunov was the main character since the nerf. Character is dead. Much better idea to pick up OP characters like Jin, Steve, Geese, Kazumi etc. BTW kazumi has the best wr2 in the game dragunovs sucks.

was his 1+2 that good? it seems pretty shit lol slow at i17, -12 on block and only +1 on hit then the follow up seems pretty shit too duckable high so you are always exposing yourself to risk with that move

@TheLenny655 5 лет назад
Identity and uniqueness loss, Its as if the character's technical worth gets watered down. Mishimas wouldn't be interesting/technical if electrics or wavedashing require no skill. Ie. Nobody likes an Easy Mode Dark Souls game
@ttacoguyy
@ttacoguyy 5 лет назад
@@TheLenny655 his snake edge doesnt force drag into crouch anymore, his wr2 leaves the opponent closer. These are the only real changes im seeing. The ff1 bound stuff is side effect of the bound being replaced by screw, but can still be used in case of floor breaks. It sounds like only a bit of unnecessary difficulty was removed. He then says sure you can do harder stuff for optimazation but you could do easier stuff for less optimization before too.
@TheLenny655
@TheLenny655 5 лет назад
@@ttacoguyy This was in terms of wall carry which is an essential utility for Dragunov, and his running2 ch combo was more technical and essential. Similar with a character like heihachi where ws launch punishes gets very technical via crouch cancel electric, you feel like a badass pulling it off as he has no other way to launch a low minus a million and dragunov had no other way to launch after ch running 2 as sway cancel ws4 was your launcher. The mishimas remained technical in Tekken 7 while Dragunov became brain dead easy.
