Omg!!!! I miss my 1992 storm gsi sooooo much!!! Lord I made some memories in that car!!! Mine was black. I took off all the emblems and painted them yellow. It was my little yellow jacket. That sucker would fly. I LOVED CHANGING THEM GEARS!!!! I could put $5 of gas in it and drive all week!!! Oh lord, take me back to being 16-17 again!!! 😢😢 Thank you so much for the informative video. It took me back to a GREAT TIME in my life. Even spoke of the Eagal Talon. That was my first loves Vehicle!!! ❤️. That was a wonderful time of my life. Thank You!!! 🥰
Picked up one of these sweet lil whips about 3 months ago. Had to get a few things fixed, minor thankfully. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Runs awesome! 89000 original miles, no dents, tiny lil bit of rust. It was Teal, the previous owner primed it for whatever reason so at the moment it’s white. Soon to be restored to original color. Which just happens to be my favorite color! Thank you for the video!
Thank you once again. You did a great job. Well stated about the buyers crossing over to Saturn SC coupe. I rode in one of these. It is quite small on the inside. Well put together footage and information. Very interesting information about the Impulse. Isuzu sadly left the United States. I still see all those medium duty trucks they sold. It is interesting to note Isuzu shared vehicles with GM besides the Impulse and Storm.
Thanks for watching again. Plenty of Isuzu models on the road still, like the Rodeo. Never see anymore Impulses. Yeah in future episode we’re gonna cover the one-off models shared with GM like the Spectrum and the Hombre etc.
I owned a 1990 base storm and it was a blast to drive. It was red with dark tinted windows and I stripped all the emblems off of it. People would ask me what it was all the time. I even had a custom stereo system installed with two 12" subwoofers in the back.
Mine was a red ‘93, no a/c sucked during Denver summers, but I’d take it on those dirt construction area that locals used their atvs on and I’d drive it like a rally car. I miss that car. Bought it for $2k just after I turned 15 for my permit. My stepdad would take me out for an hour each day as I learned to drive stick.
my best friend had one...a 92 gsi model 5speed, it ran with my 93 altima se 5speed, my 5.0 aod only came out on weekends and would kill most anything she ran against til someone rear ended me when i drove it to high school my sister had an SC coupe she loved it..noproblems and it had power with the dohc model, even had a button for "performance"
I had a 91 storm. I cut the roof off it above the driver and passenger seats and made the piece I cut out able to be clamped back on. like a supra or del sol with removable roofs. It leaked like crazy but I only paid $300 for the car just to beat the shit out of. It held up like a champ on and off road. Only thing I ever had to fix on the car was cv axles which were mostly shot when I purchased the car.
Good one. I had the 88 Lotus Impulse. Loved it. When it went FWDi just couldn't stomach the redesign. My gf at the time had the Storm. It was actually pretty refined for then and trouble-free. Even the base engine was punchy.
Got handed down my sisters 90 base Storm. It was peppy for its time. Rust showed up living in the snow belt.. Sure do miss these Japanese sport couples that were affordable.
Didn't know Geo made a sports car, the front fascia looks a lot like the fourth generation Chevy Camaro that came soon after this Geo strom. I think the strom would also compete with the Toyota celica, Nissan 240sx, Honda prelude and Ford probe.
Yeah they’re seldom talked about nowadays. The Impulse was the better option if you had the extra doe. The Storm was in the econosport class. So rather competing with a car like the Celica, it instead went up against the Paseo. The 240sx wasn’t econosport, but the NX2000 was. MotorWeek even did a comparison including the Storm/Paseo/NX/SC etc.
I had a base 91 storm and my buddy had a 91 prelude Si. He would smoke me all the time. I'm not sure if the gsi would keep up with a prelude or not though.
@@MotorMaster_StunticonI loved the impulse wagon back. I liked the round headlights of the impulse over the square ones on the storm. I thought it was was so cool that the impulse said "suspension by LOTUS" on the fender badge. I had a 91 storm base and a 91 storm wagon back base. Loved them both.
As Buick is the big seller in China, GM should acquired Isuzu and turn it into GM Japan to say the Isuzu trucks becomes Chevrolet, and yet the Pontiac Storm; to be sold first in Japan and then export to the US.
I have owned one for two years now with no end in sight, it’s a 1992 gsi manual with 135,641 and before that going back to June of 2015 it had 134,735 from its last official shop oil change from the previous owner and of course I have since changed it lol and I also own a 97 prizm base sadly and a 95 metro lsi. I absolutely love all of my geos.
@@MotorMaster_StunticonAbsolutely amazing just thinking on it as time goes by, I could only hope it’ll last as long as my prizm with 250 thousand but definitely is a nice handling and fast car, I be flying everywhere I go now as I’ve started daily driving it for a while.
I was a teenagrowing up in Miami Beach in the late 1990s. Of course my fellow Julio friends we're all ricers and loved Lightweight Japanese cars that were easy to soup up and modify Into little street rockets. The original fast and furious movies we're just a hyper silly version of what was really going on. The Metro and the prizm We're both in big demand but nobody really fucked with these little Geo sworms because much like the equally mediocre Hyundai Scoupe They were there very poorly made and unreliable.. The Hyundai hadparts that would literally come unglued and fall apart but the Storm would seem to self destruct from within constantly blowing head gaskets at night and that was when they were fairly new and not defiled by a bunch of teenage assholes. And they were dangerous. They were so light weight that even the slightest bit of moisture on the ground would cause the car slide all over the road. Not all Japanese car companies are the same when it comes to build quality.. I know everyone knows that European cars European cars are open engineered unreliable garbage and the American car companies seem to design their cars with a sense of contempt for the customer in the Japanese cars all being tightly finished reliable appliances. From the time I started noticing cars when I was about 8 in 1988 the standard was set that Toyota was the Most reliable but Honda built the better engine. Nissan Nissan was number 3 followed by Mazda quickly behind but nobody gave a shit about Isuzu Or mitsubishi. I remember the pre storm being the Geo spectrum which which only one year earlier was the Chevrolet spectrum and they were crap. Both the spectrum and Isuzu I Mark We're both handsome little patch balso offered in Sedan form we're known to haweak automatic transmissions and extremely weak head gasket blowing engines..
Cool story. Thanks for taking the time to write all of that! Yeah I agree not all Japanese car companies were the same when it came to build quality-especially during the era of this particular car.
@Antique TAGS Thats true..A NX2000 would be about 30k now vs a 25k Geo Storm GSI. Storms were hot then because they were priced well and every town had a Chevy dealer.
