I miss my 94 5 speed... paid 800 for it in 06 and put miles on it. Got hit on drivers side quarter panel they totalled it...got paid 2800 bought it back for 500...swapped motor and transmission out into another... got hit in the rear end and paid another 2800... bought it back for 500 again then sold it for 800... best damn car ever I have owned!

My first car is the 1995 geo prizm base and I love it. Got it in 2018 as a graduation gift when I was in highschool. Still have it and still going strong.

Nice! I wouldn’t mind having one myself. I’m glad to hear these cars are still being driven.

Great vid! My Grandfather bought a Prism in 93. He was a loyal Toyota man since the 70s and had a Celica and Camry before. He went the Prism route because it was a little cheaper than the Corolla...even though it was packaged with a little less standard features. In 99 he bought a Corolla.
@MotorMaster_Stunticon
@MotorMaster_Stunticon Год назад
Thanks for sharing your story. Yep, the Geo being a bit less expensive than the Corolla was a strong selling point. They were on par with the Corolla, too bad the resale value wasn’t like the Corolla’s.

@Antique TAGS Thats true. Im sure the same could be said of the Toyota Matrix vs Pontiac Vibe.

You did your homework again. You hit all the spots. Right when I was thinking he did not cover this or that and there it was on the screen. You did a good job in how you expressed things as well about the Toyota connection as well. Some of the GEO's were sold as under a Pontiac sub brand in Canada. In Canada Pontiac in Canada help the image and position that Chevrolet holds in the United States. Chevrolet held the position Pontiac held in the United States in Canada. The roles were reversed there. Thank you once again.

Yeah I attempt to be as thorough as possible, but only for relevant information. The 1985 Nova didn’t necessarily need to be mentioned, but I just threw it in there since it was also built at NUMMI.

My next door neighbor had a black 95 prizm . I wanted that for my first car. Unfortunately, they moved and traded it for a 2011 Prius in 2013.

The '89-'91 Prizm sedan was built at NUMMI, just like the Chevy Nova before it. The hatchback Prizm was a version of the Corolla Sprinter, built elsewhere.

Still have a '94 5MT Prizm in the awful teal color with many Bondo spots. 289k miles and a decent winter car. My summer car is a 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT with the 6spd -- also made at NUMMI.

Yeah that teal color was popular on 90s cars in general. Glad to hear you still own it, they run forever.

Toured the NUMMI plant in Fremont (Now Tesla) where these were built alongside the nearly identical Toyota Corrola. Great quality control was the emphasis on the assembly line. Clean facility and Tacoma trucks assembled there as well.

I always had a small soft spot for Geo. At the time I was in middle school or so and had no idea these were Corollas until years later! But I remember them being solid cars if a little boring especially compared to that in house competition you mentioned. However I would rather had a Prizm over the Escort any day 😂
@MotorMaster_Stunticon
@MotorMaster_Stunticon Год назад
Yeah definitely. The Escort was reliable but the Prizm was waaay more reliable. Solid cars inside and out. I think they were probably the most reliable out of all the Geo models TBH. Sad how the Prizm ended. By the time it merged with Chevy, it wasn’t promoted quite as heavily, if at all. Thanks for watching again.

I wonder if these new generation can do 40 mpg’s like these kings back in the day and still make it more fun than these bigger cars nowadays? Makes me think these kids have it good with all that power and no money😂

Hey thanks for watching. The outro I had someone on Fiverr.com make it, so I have no idea which music track they used. They had a selection of tracks to choose from so I chose that one.

Had a '95 LSi and loved it until an accident. The bright red paint faded after 5 years but that was the only problem I ever had with it. The design still looks good to this day (and better than the Corolla of that time) and there are still many on the roads. I occasionally think about finding another LSi just for the hell of it.

First video on this channel about a Geo model, the Geo brand was one that not many people never knew existed, myself included. Around the same time this Geo sub-brand was launched, Chrysler launched the Eagle brand which I guess was Geo's main competitor in that neither brand had a unique model for themselves, both brands were short-lived and both brands just sold rebadged imports lol. But this was American brands had a bad habit of selling the same car across 4-5 brands.
@juelzm149
@juelzm149 Год назад
You hit the nail on the head! GM was the biggest offender...carbon copies of every model at every division 🤦🏾‍♂️
@doug6191
@doug6191 Год назад
"Not many people knew existed" = you didn't know, so therefore not many knew. "Eagle" was a model before it was a brand, similar to Genesis of today. Similar to GM, Chrysler was selling versions of Mitsubishis for YEARS before they were sold under the "Eagle" label.
@MotorMaster_Stunticon
@MotorMaster_Stunticon Год назад
@Anthony Rivera yeah I recall back in the late 80s/early 90s many people actually shopped Geo. I’m not sure if Eagle was a direct competitor. Geo was more eco-minded. And Geo didn’t have a ‘sporty’ full-size sedan like the Vision and a Talon TSi could blow the doors off of a Storm any day of the week. But yeah both were short-lived and basically rebadges.
