If you want more real insights like this from China, watch our important message video: bit.ly/3VSWDOE where we explain why we can only do street interviews in cities like Shanghai.
@michaelwang6125

Shanghai is definitely more developed than 90% of the cities in mainland so I wonder if their media projection is different. e.g 4:32 ; whereas many of other state run media on Weibo-etc were taking the stance of Wolf Warriors though not to the extent it was back in 2020-2021 where it even push for the narrative that the Virus came form America etc. That IMO was the turning point in relationship to confrontational on the media landscape Between America/Beijing. Several of EU's position towards China turned after France and other outlet translated China's internal media in regards to Putin's military excuses and why its Nato/US/wEst's fault which doesn't align to the message Beijing was telling EU delegation. Went from - still friendly despite the pandemic to questioning and now doubting with very little sign of improving unless something major happens. In War (it be foolish to not acknowledge we had already entered cold war as decoupling continues unless one side either collapse or concedes) It's more often than not; its not who makes the first move or made the most effective moves that wins; but one that makes less mistake than the opponent that wins. In 4 of the major gamble (1 is the bet on Moscow); they had mostly backfired on mainland as a whole with very little merits to it and in fact had only made the situation worse like how Putin's invasion end up being the main reason for Sweden/Finland to join Nato.

China has not forced political correctness on other countries, supported puppet regimes to overthrow the current government, or forcibly plundered other countries' resources by force. It has not launched wars against small countries for decades, let alone deployed hundreds of military bases in hundreds of countries around the world. Even a tiny country like the Philippines dares to provoke China. China knows that the result of war in modern society is that everyone loses, and it is better to talk than to do it. Of course, China also has its own bottom line, and will only take action if it can no longer tolerate it. If the earth is destroyed by another world war because of greedy humans, it is humans, not the earth, that will perish. There should be less intrigue between major powers, and they should not engage in hegemony. Only win-win cooperation can promote human development.

Obviously this doesn't apply to all cities in America but when I was in the states I encountered insane levels of homelessness and drug abuse. It was mind boggling to me. When I was in San Francisco the locals were telling me that people literally leave their cars unlocked so thieves won't smash their car windows. On the flip side, not once did I feel unsafe in China even walking around at 2 or 3 in the morning.

Asian and European countries on a whole are just more civilized when it comes to humanizing their population. Also these are all relatively small countries/populations. Its easier to keep things together and ppl work as a whole. America is trying to get there, but the amount of space and various diverse populations create issues. Add in wealth inequality and the fact that corporations get away with what they want for the most part due to $$$ in govt....vs other countries where the govt exists for the populace, in america the govt exists for corporations and $$$/self interest. When the current generation of political leaders expires from power the cultural cohesiveness will get better. The world as a whole is moving in this direction though. Barriers are breaking down.

All in all proper interview and all had answers were backed up with logic and reason. Some take aways based on the street interviews: 1. China doesn't do anti-US propaganda feeding their citizens negative and or fake news. 2. Chinese are very mature in their way thinking and their way of expressing their thoughts, even kids are saying things that western adults can learn from. 3. They very well understand ultimate freedom of act and speech has certain level of restriction in any part of the world. 4. In general Chinese don't preach/spread hate. 5. All interviewed people had their own perspective and view on the topic about Tiktok vs Douyin, and the most funny part was: in the US young people watch nonsense/dum stuff and in China educational stuff 🤣😂 Last but not least perhaps not all citizens know that western social tech companies like Meta, Google, Snap, X didn't choose to settle in China due to gov. rules requiring them to not send data and store in the US or outside of China. Same like Tik tok in the US all servers and data must be stored locally, which Tiktok/Bytedance did and follow. Apple for example did follow rules in China and there for example Apple Maps works fine.

Yeah. That's happened to me on both RU-vid and on Chinese platforms, but when it comes to "freedom of speech", it's more about consequences. Saying too much of the "wrong thing" about the government on social media in China could result in many things from: having your account completely shut down, the police paying a visit to your house, or you just straight up being arrested. On the other hand you'd sooner have your RU-vid account suspended for being racist or being virulently anti-some minority group than you would for criticizing the government.

Generally when people are starved, un-housed, sick, and in massive debt, they tend lash out and want to blame someone (anyone) for their troubles. In the case of USA, in the 80s it was Japan, in the 90s and 2000s it was the Middle East, and in the 2020s it's China. Western countries (particularly USA) have unhappy and debt-ridden citizens, and so national and local news cycles focus on bringing down their geopolitical neighbours rather than fix things at home. On the other hand, much of the Chinese population (to the tune of 800+ million) have been lifted out of severe poverty. Healthcare, housing, transportation, and general infrastructure has improved for most of it's citizens. And while there are many young people facing employment challenges, we don't see the same level of poverty and desperation (especially for housing and healthcare) as in many Western countries. Chinese people are generally happy and content with their country, and so their news cycle focuses on the merits of their country.

Maybe for USA, but that's only because USAs global interests are selfish and immoral and don't care about "the peoples goodwill". China is different, since its government has a specific people focused goal and it is a collective society and not selfish individual based/focused society or culture. And when I say "specific people focused goal" i mean improving the lives of the common people which also make up the majority and most important part of any country or civilization. Compare with USA or west which prioritizes the individual and even promotes an individual to be successful so he can take everything while others have nothing.. even if we don't care about morality or fairness, for Chinese we simply are such a system as inefficient and just means the country is wasting its most important assets. It's people. Better to have everyone with good education and decent living all united and working together for a common goal than one super billionaire buying everyone or ordering them all to work for a goal only the billionaire cares about, like making himself more money and giving himself more power, even at the expense of the people and country since he is individual minded and thinks that he deserves it because he won under USA capitalist winner takes all rules and where money and profit trumps everything else including loyalty, justice, righteousness, equality and fairness, etc etc. USA is fine with stuff like poverty because that is capitalism and they are the losers. Otherwise how can there be winners without losers? There can be no up without down, no ying without yang. USA has a very limited and harmful zero sum view of the world and countries/civilizations. That's why it doesn't know what to do vs China since china doesn't see or treat USA as an enemy that must be contained or destroyed, but a partner and opportunity which can benefit China greatly if they work together on common goals and interests(which china has done and has indeed benefited China immensely in the last 4 decades+). Serving the people is not just some empty motto like the police have "serve and protect" etc, but it is the one and only paramount law that can never be broken and is the single lone concept that the communist party and modern china itself was founded on. Aka it's called PRC, the PEOPLES Republic of China, as opposed to ROC(Taiwan) who was the previous corrupt government they overthrew in a people's war(civil war). Literally everything is done for the people and with the benefit of people's goodwill in mind. Society under such a government is characterized by making its main, core, ideological mission to protect the people from potentially harmful rising powers(like profit focused companies) since their own core values and ideologies are NOT focused on improving people's goodwill and if anything is all about exploiting people and the system in order to maximize profit and power. The gov must keep in check or even destroy them if that's what is required in order to succeed in continuing to "improve the peoples goodwill". The people also have to uphold their side of the social contract, which is they also must act and keep in check any government or leaders who do not keep up their side of the social contract and do not "improve the peoples goodwill", let alone directly hurting or exploiting and hurting the people for whatever reason which can never be justified or rank above "the goodwill of the people" This is similar to usas own checks and balances, and why they have guns, and why they have 3 branches of government and free press and so on and so forth. But imo in USA society under the current system, all its checks and balances have already failed, and the people really need to revolt and correct the system. For Chinese, that would basically be overthrowing the emperor and the end of a dynasty. Basically start things from scratch again since everything is so bad already that trying to correct and fix the existing system is the same as trying to fix a car that has been too badly damaged and should just be written off instead. Other examples of chinas gov keeping in check harmful forces and powers would be like the proposed Alibaba IPO which would have been the biggest and most profitable IPO in all of world history but the government ended up blocking it because in the long term and big picture they knew that it would only hurt the people and country, not improve it. Or at least overall it would clearly be a net negative since they do not do such things lightly. I mean Jack Ma is a party member himself and the government supported and backed Alibaba etc from the start but profit or companies or party members etc can never be put above the good of the people and country. In USA the politicians would be given shares in return for allowing the IPO to proceed even at their peoples and countries expense. But when you have no laws against politicians buying or owning or trading shares even while in government, anyone with half a brain like even that young kid in this video will know what the end result will be. Politicians enriching themselves through legalized corruption and the people and country suffering. Inequality growing. The peoples power and potential being wasted because one man monopolized all the resources and limited the opportunities for the people in order to grow his own wealth and power to an obscene level where it is already just stupid, like billionaires who have 500 billion or even 10 billion. At that point anything on top of that is just hoarding and hurting society and imo such a private individual or single person should never be able to be that wealthy or powerful. That is how cults of personality start and also where the government itself can be undermined by outside forces that are not working in the peoples interests and if anything are looking to remove laws which protect people and limit their profits like anti monopoly laws or drug or food regulation laws which help people but would mean that company loses tens of billions. Or in usas case, the military industrial complex which is not to defend the people or country, but is there to defend usas capitalist interests and the selfish interests of its most wealthy and privileged class. Ie the top 0.001%. China works for the 99.9%. USA works for the 0.01%. it's easy to see why chinese people rank china the highest on all democracy indexes including how important democracy is, compared to most Americans who don't even consider USA a democracy, but also who also don't consider democracy as important for their country. In the end enabling the people(aka the common man, not the billionaire people lol) and improving their health and lives is what democracy is all about. It isn't about some ideologist concepts like free speech or free press or elections, especially if those things only hurt the people and country in the long run. Like not censoring hate speech or lies and disinformation and allowing terrorist groups to recruit or spread their evil extremist violent ideology. So if USA can censor such things, then free speech in itself is not inherently good nor is it a basic human right or inherent part of democracy. The only inherent part of democracy is for the people by the people, and if censorship is for the people(they support censoring), and also for the good if the people, then censorship is a democratic act. Of course, bad or corrupt governments can abuse or exploit this, but that is why the people need to uphold their own end of the social contract and remind such corrupt evil governments of just why "the people" is the most defining and most valuable and most powerful asset in any society/civilization/democracy and why every government should serve them for not just the people or societies goodwill, but also for the government and leaders wellbeing and continued health existence itself. USA has never overthrown a powerful corrupt or inept gov to start from scratch, and then rise to the top over and over again. For china this is the norm and the default expectation. While Chinese will look forward and even fight for such drastic change, i don't think most Americans have the courage to not only fight such a fight, but they also do not have the courage to live in such a post revolution society after throwing the old power structure and system away completely. Can usa ever end capitalism and adopt Marxist communism? Can usa ever change from current election system and move to emperor or benevolent dictatorship model? Can USA admit even basic things like some things must be censored for the peoples good. I mean when usa cant even admit that many guns are bad for society and is the reason why there is so many mass shootings and gun violence, let alone pass any real meaningful common sense legislation which makes USA society safer, then yeah. I doubt they can do any of the more extreme stuff I suggested above. USA is not flexible or pragmatic enough. Not objective enough and too idealistic and putting blind ideology and the system itself above the peoples well-being and prosperity which is ultimately the reason why China is succeeding and why USA will decline or cease to exist as China's peer if it does not make the necessary reforms and end the corruption and inefficiencies(like focusing on individual mass wealth and wasting the power of the great masses combined working for a great common goal like ending poverty, becoming multiplanetary civilization, world peace and harmony, no more violence etc).

In Usa there is a serious crime problem and you do not feel safe on the streets. In China (cameras are everywhere) You feel safe on the streets even with your entire family. I looked at the comments section, and I think it would be great if most people in the world had similar ideas to the comments section here. In my opinion, there are obvious development differences between Eastern and Western civilizations. Western civilization was largely developed based on pirate civilization, so their idea is that once they become strong, they will plunder. Western civilization is also an extroverted civilization, so Westerners don't like to be restricted, which is the origin of the so-called freedom. The rise of Eastern civilization, especially Chinese civilization, is basically based on agricultural civilization, so the Chinese idea is to grow their own fields well, get a good harvest, be self-sufficient, and live a good life. So Eastern civilization has become an introverted civilization. They only need to take care of themselves and don't care much about what happens outside. So, in their view, the so-called freedom in the West has little to do with them. So, in essence, the focus of these two issues is different. Then why is the so-called freedom now so important? This is because the West has controlled the world for one or two hundred years, and they have spread their way of thinking to the world, which has become the so-called universal value. However, due to the influence of civilization, China has never been changed by this Western value system. So, when China becomes strong, these two values will collide. Since Western governments consider China with Western values, they think that China cannot become strong for their own benefit, so they use their widely spread Western values to criticize China, which has led to misunderstandings of China among people in many countries over the past few decades. One of the main reasons why China has not been conquered by Western values is that how can a civilization with thousands of years of history be simply overthrown by a civilization with only a few hundred years of history?

As an American, I grew up believing all small and frail Chinese people were peasants who toiled from dawn to dusk in the rice paddies wearing baggy clothes and funny hats. In the 60 years I have followed the development of the Chinese people, their diets have improved to the point where everyone appears to be very healthy and robust. They also seem happier since their emergence from the drudge of decades past. America is a lot of things both good and bad, but we always strive to be better tomorrow than we were today.

Regarding the issue of Chinese people wearing funny hats, I would like to say that only farmers in one or two provinces in southern China wear those pointed straw hats, such as Guangdong and Guangxi provinces. 95% of Chinese people have never worn that kind of hat, or even seen it. It can be seen how deeply Americans have stereotypes about China. It may be due to the deliberate selection of negative things by American media for reporting.

May I add to this post by pointing out that at 13.20, a feisty firecracker of a Grandmother is exactly who I was referencing in my comment about small & frail chinese people. Compared to the young man she is located next too, appears to be standing in a hole. But she isn't. She is the living proof of the horrors of the Long March famine in 1959-60. She suffered extreme nutritional deficiencies in her young development, but persevered, toiling day after day, doing back-breaking work for decades. And probably carried a baby or two around on her back at the same time. She is not afraid of the speech police and is ready to give everyone an earful if you try to stop her from speaking her mind.

On one side you say the Chinese government controls the information, but then on the other side you say it's the Americans who live in an information cocoon? Is it not both? Do *most* Chinese people use VPNs to get daily news from other countries? I doubt it. In the same way, Americans watch their own news to get information about other countries. Both countries live in a vacuum, but to say "most Chinese have a correct view of history" is quite arrogant. Chinese culture and civilization is what has maintained, but in terms of governments, China can only maintain one for average of about 250-300 years. The People's Republic isn't even that old yet. The best outcome for Asia now is for U.S. allies to jump ship, so to speak. Neither Japan nor Korea need to remain subservient to U.S. foreign policy and it's military. In addition to the examples being set by the likes of China, Russia and Vietnam, both Japan and South Korea have a lot to learn from a much underrated DPRK; their close North Korean neighbours, who having struggled for decades against U.S./UN sanctions have become a relatively independent more sovereign country, whose people are thereby all the more resilient and secure. Conversely, nation states that remain subservient to the U.S. military are getting what their relative weakness deserves; they are being politically and economically exploited, thereby becoming less sovereign and less secure eg; Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Australia, NATO and most EU countries.
