I have always wanted to do this and gave up because 'no way anyone actually does that/ has resources available' and watching your videos has inspired me to give it a try! I will have to watch these again when I get all the materials together.
Electrical engineer here, I’m so glad that you are using the tip tinner! Not only does it help with picking up solder, but if you tin the tip after use, it helps clean the flux residue off and helps prevent corrosion, helping your tips to last longer. I always tin the tip before I turn my iron off for the day. Love the video!
I work in medical device assembly soldering 8 hours a day and we don't do this, they also tell us to clean our tips with a wet rag... they are constantly having to be replaced and we always get in trouble for not taking care of them... like dude you're literally telling me to make this thing rusty and then get mad at me when it rusts 😭
I am a Tinsmith (Historical Interpreter) and your comment makes me happy. 🥰 Although I tend to use Soldering Coppers, the Great Grandpa of Soldering Irons. 😅👍🏻
Hey is the lead in the solder dangerous? Like, after I make the piece is it safe to have in my house? Cause I really want to do this but lead sounds scary to me
Right? I loved art but watching shorts like these got me into crochet! But there's people that are so talented and educated In what they do, its crazy!
I remember being taught how to solder in robotics. He was talking, yet focused, talkng about how the fumes were toxic jokingly, then he swore and realized he didnt put heatshrink on it
Glass craftsmen have my greatest respect. Your art is stunning and I never tire of filling my home with it. Keep up the beautiful work; a Michigan leatherworker
Are there different colors for the solder? I honestly think that would look much prettier with the copper color because of the orange against the blue creates a nice contrast.
I took a beginner stained glass class, and I loved it! I can't wait to delve into this art form more. Your videos are very informative, and your pieces are beautiful - thank you!
Ahhh I’m so happy I found this video! I recently started jewelry soft soldering but my solder doesn’t run smoothly. Sometimes it even stuck onto the piece I was working on when I tried to go back over it. And I thought I either wasn’t applying enough flux or was applying too much but that didn’t seem to be it. So I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong because I haven’t seen many tutorials. And they never really gave a specific temperature to start with. Now I’m gonna order some of that cleaning stuff from the beginning and increase the temperature to see if that helps me out.
I've been doing some soldering work on electronics, and you can't really use too much flux. The only thing with using more is just a bigger mess to clean.
So beautiful! Your work and videos have pushed me to take the step to try stained glass work.❤ I've worked with glass, made marbles and some other glass pieces, but sculpting with clay has always been my world. I started in highschool with large blocks of natural clay and just fell in love. I also work with oven bake and air dry clay, and I love carving bone dry clay, which was frowned upon back when I was a teenager because of the danger, but apparently it's a big thing now?
I was taught how to solder in one of my mechanical engineering lab and u make it looks SO EASY like it takes a crazy amount of precision to make it look this smooth!!
I am terrified of heat tools. The way I used to feel about big things in water is the way I feel watching these things. Very pretty stained glass, though. & good work!
So inspirational! I admire stained glass pieces so much, just discovered your channel, and now I want to learn, even though I know your skill is making it look easier than it is! Thank you for sharing!! ❤ beautiful work!
I've always loved stained glass windows/glass, so it's really refreshing that someone should take a keen interest helping to keep this skill alive. I love your work. Thank you, for sharing the video & your tips. 🔍
