But do not use your physical Suica card to create your digital Suica card on your phone, it invalidates and makes the physical card useless! Mistakes were made, lessons were learned lol
I’ve tried using the digital Suica card on my IPhone, but every time I’ve tried adding some money, every single card in my phone got rejected. Do you know if there’s any explanation for that?
Ok, it seems visa in the USA does not work, my suggestion is to try AMEX or Mastercard, or as some people are doing .. creating a middle man via a currency account like Revolut or apple card which allows you create a virtual apple pay card. Once its set up it operates the same as a normal card and can even be topped up at kiosks in Japan@@619AGT
@@NinjaMonkeyguy So basically Apple Cash would be the only way to do it? Because I also tried a Mastercard, and for some reason there was a message that said Apple Pay does not support the Mastercard I have.
There is a hidden trick not many people know. You can still get the normal Suica card or also Pasmo if you buy it with a one day ticket. For Suica, just go to any black colored JR ticket machine and click on value tickets, the 760 yen ticket and then you will have the option to add it on a new Suica. The ticket will also allow you to ride JR lines within Tokyo wards on the day you bought it. For a Pasmo, go to any major Tokyo Metro or Toei Subway station, click on value tickets and the process is kind of different depending on where you are but just make sure to get the Pasmo version and not the regular paper version.
@@liawijaya23 Around that but as of October you can also get a registered card without having to do this. Problem is you need a Japanese phone number to do that.
for anyone asking for Androids, the japanese cash cards use a diffrent NFC frequency. You need a Android phone that was bought in japan (ebay?). Technically your android phone 100% supports it, but this is locked behind a license so your phone will not support it. because 99% of the world don't need it. It's only unlocked on Android phones bought in Japan (Or by flashing your andorid phone with a Janapese unlocked kernel & os)
Hey Ninja, I'm currently in Japan. I will try the tokyo station to see if I can get the secret suica. I noticed a 100 year anniversary one is for sale as well.
Hehehe, been using the same Suica card my friend gave me in like 2017 for whenever I visit 😌💜 The only place it seemed to not work for me whatsoever was in Okinawa. I tried to ride the Yui Rail and it seemed to not work well for whatever reason, haha.
@@NinjaMonkeyguy for normal green suica card, can you still get them in Shinjuku/Shibuya station, or they are extremely limited? Will be going in 2 months
It might be too late unless you can get the visitor version from the vending machine ..info for other centers here www.jreast.co.jp/multi/en/customer_support/service_center_tokyo.html
You’d need a physical ic card, (no child digital suica as far as I’m aware) these are available either via the children’s welcome suica or the normal children’s suica .. you’d need to go the a station for example I know Ueno station had them at the entrance of the central gates.. you need to queue up and present the child’s passport
Can you use the Suica card anywhere you want to go shopping or can it be use in a restaurant? Whoever reads my comment, I will greatly appreciate your reply. Thank you in advance.🥰
Yup many places affect IC cards like suica just remember that suica has a max limit of 20,000 so for larger bills it might not be possible but for smaller payments a lot of places will take it especially in the cities
Haha.. I can assure it works properly, this is very bizzare of they said that.. ignore,… I do agree the Suica app is redundant though unless you need to figure out your Suica ID to link it online
For this card, does it work on a mobile Suica from Apple Pay outside Japan as long as I can successfully register the 17-digit IC card number and date of birth? I plan on topping up using cash, not my Visa card as it’s not a Japanese bank card.
I’m still confused about iPhone use. I downloaded the Suica App (by stealth as I’m in UK) but it’s only in Japanese 😢. I’ve read that US and Oz have versions in English but that’s too much stealth for me to bother with. Am I missing something?
Hey sorry for the delay, You dont need to download the suica app.. if you are on the iphone you simply head over to the apple wallet and add it from there (press the plus button and follow instructions). sometimes visa doesnt work so use an apple pay method if possible
in terms of Airport availability they should be but this seems to be forever changing! It has been at Narita on and off, dont worry you can still get one or a normal one when in tokyo in the meantime just purchase a normal ticket if they are not available.. Also, it seems from reports that you might be able to get a normal suica at Narita (but this is not confirmed)
If you can get a digital suica and you can top up using your bank card it’s a game changer! No more topping up at the kiosk and a way to go “cashless” by paying more with Suica :)
@NinjaMonkeyguy that's a nice convenience. I just dont like depending everything on a phone. You lose your phone, thats it. Loading the Suica card on a station is not a hassle anyway :)
@@bbb229 you can recharge at station recharge points or conbini.. I have a train guide that covers part of that if you are interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ofMBceVfGlM.html
The NFC frenquency is only for japanese cash cards, to 99% of the world don't need extra license unlocked. So you need a Android phone bought in Japan for unlock , or a very complicated flashed android phone with unlocked japanese kernel & os
Nope.. this is 100% true and you Need to go to JR EAST TRAVEL COUNTER (where you get the jr pass) these are limited per day and may run out but are usually restocked daily OFFICIAL INFO: www.jreast.co.jp/multi/en/index.html .. I TRIED AND TESTED THIS MYSELF AT SHIBUYA and others have gone to the other stations, DO NOT go the regular ticket offices MUST be JR EAST TRAVEL CENTER at the Jr pass exchange counter
@@NinjaMonkeyguy I’ve already reserved my Shinkansen tickets through JREast. Can I pick them up at an electronic kiosk or do I have to go to their office. I’ll be picking them up in Narita Airport terminal 1. Great short by the way, very informative
@@pancyn5914 head to the wallet app on the iPhone and click on the top right plus (Add button) then go to Transit and choose Japan, once you choose your card and top it up using Apple Pay it will be good to go! good luck :)
I m back to my country from Japan .. if it’s 10 years valid, can my relatives or friends who wish to travel to Japan , use it ?? Or it’s only for the person who purchased it
So are standard Suica cards back? I'm flying into Haneda and don't want to get a Welcom Suica since I'm going to be there for more than 28 days and have read these cannot he reloaded. I also don't have an iPhone I have Samsung, so I can't get the electronic card.
