Mr. Gene, I am just plain out of words as I have comment multiple times, but you have taught me so much about fishing and all the different "simple" techniques that others steer away from for some reason. But you have also taught me more about life than fishin' and you inspire me to be a more simple and better man. I truly appreciate all that you do and always smile when I see that you have posted a new video. God Bless You sir.
Hello Mr Gene, First time joining in on your fishing trip . I have a question, for you about catfish bait. Why don't we have skip jack to bite a lure in these rivers over here in Southern Georgia. I have fished for catfish a lot of years but never catch any kind of cut shad for bait. Do y'all know something we havent for out? I fish the St. Mary's river. And Satilla river. Thanks bsm
No better teacher on fishing, or life advice on RU-vid. Richard we really appreciate your videos. Gives hope to the rest of us that there are good people out there like yourself.
Richard’s THE man when it comes to fishing. I’m 62 & fished all my life. He’s taught me a lot about crappie, in particular. In addition to his fishing knowledge, you have to respect his approach to life. Good man.
Thanks Richard for another fun and informative video ! I'm 58 and have been fishing since i can remember , you teach me new ways to catch a mess of fish all the time ! mostly you remind me to slow down and enjoy the day and the beautiful lakes and rivers i have to fish on ! I look forward to seeing the next adventure !
Mr. Gene the fishing machine, you are wonderful. I am 75 yrs old and have been fishing since I was 11. I have learned more from you this winter than I have in my whole life. God has surely blessed us all with your videos and dedication to the sport. You truly represent what a child of God should be. Thank you for all you do and God bless you and your beautiful wife. Craig Otto
I love the way you keep things simple to catch fish. I'm not being sold anything except how to catch fish & lots of them. You're fun to watch & a blessing.
One of many of my favorite things you do is that you show that you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a great time and catch loads of fish. Which is really great for people like me
Thanks for another great video, Richard. I always enjoy when I see you've posted another video. You are full of advice and knowledge, and it's amazing how freely you share the tips and knowledge. I really admire your passion for fishing and sharing your love of God's word and the beauty he created for everyone. Both there if someone just opens their heart and eyes. Thank you Richard for all you give us. God bless you and your family and have a blessed day my friend.
Great video. I have caught more bass off using live worms, mostly night crawlers then any other bait known. Thank you for sharing and God bless you sir and your whole family....🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊🙂😀
I'm going fishing in about an hour and I always charge up by watching a few extra videos from the fishing machine :D I'm extra pumped now, we love you and thank you for everything that you do :D
You tore them up again Richard, love your secret techniques and love for the sport, would love me and my son to go fishing with you, but we are in California, thanks again so much, have a miracle filled evening, always in my prayers 🙏 love ❤you 🙏
I grew up a salt water fisher. Now in AZ I’ve started the switch to fresh ,and boy oh boy is it a different dance. Thank you sir for the lesson. I’ll be sure it implement your teachings.
Love it Richard! Me and a friend went today and i caught white bass, 6 crappie, 2 small jaws, a large jaw, and a spotted bass. Woooooo!!! God bless you too buddy!
I started fishing like this because of the last video you posted and have caught a mess of fish on cordell hull. Sauger, small and large mouth, channels and she'll cracker. It's amazing how complicated men can make something like fishing. Sometimes you just gotta go back to the basics
Been fishing for more than 60 years. As a kid we always collected nightcrawlers and caught every species of fish in the lakes and rivers. Started throwing lures as a young teen and completely got away from live bait til a few years ago. Walleye fishing has improved in one area that I fish so I figured I would give it a try and try nightcrawlers. Worked great on the walleye and the added bonus was large and smallmouth bass. Over the last few years have relied less on artificials and caught more and bigger bass on the nightcrawlers.
This is how I started fishing as a teen in Montana long ago - collecting the nightcrawlers in the neighbor's garden the night before. They were usually very effective for trout, as were simple spinners and spoons.
Like the way you teach, so simple and easy to follow your application for fishing; using the right hook, or bait for the right condition while on the water has all be good stuff. I can't wait to get on the water again. Thanks for your passion for fishing Mr. Gene.....
Keep teaching us the simple tricks Gene, I am so grateful! I keep being inspired to fish "simply" and effectively the way you do, which honestly is the best way!
300,000 subscribers!!!! my, my, my. I well remember when you had 25k. From what I can tell, your incredible RU-vid success couldn't happen to a better fella.
This is what fishing is supposed to be. Enjoying God’s creation. Richard has a way of getting across his point like no other. Love the simple style of fishing. Just goes to show you that you don’t have to have all the newest and greatest gadgets to catch fish. Thanks Richard for keeping it real. Always look forward to your videos.
Such a simple easy setup and I always take nightcrawlers with me in case I don't catch bass with typical techniques and bass baits so that I can hopefully take home some bluegill to eat. I've never tied that rig up and tried that but I sure will especially if I can't catch em on top water, thanks Mr. Fishing Machine!
Wooooooooooo I love the back water creeks of the North Alabama, thank you for all the great videos of fishing just they way we grew up. even got my wife to get her fishing license this year.!! now she wants to crappie fish!!
Richard, from Colorado I discovered your videos...which caused a guided fishing trip on Guntersville. I retire in 10 months...two weeks ago my wife and me visited Scottsboro...looking for the new retirement destination...god bless you Sir!
I learn something new about fishing every time I watch your videos. I am a student to your teaching my good sir and I thank you for all of the knowledge you pass on.
Mr.gene thank you for your videos they always have good information. But the best part I think is there in no bad language an everything is explained awesome. GOD BLESS BE SAFE AN ALWAYS KEEP IT REAL.
I got out on Jan 12. Northern Indiana and skunked out on the main lake for 3 hours and then pulled up into a shallow spot on a last ditch effort in 34° water after the ice melted for the second time this winter and i got into some stud crappie and bluegill and caught about 35 fish in under an hour. And I can tell you what. I had the ADRILIJANS too. Woo!
Hey Mr. Richard, The 4 pound line might be easier on your nerves, but we love the 2 pound fight! Thanks for showing the love of the old way of fishing, not the new way that's all about gear, competition and yelling.
Mr. gene is 2 pound line getting harder to find I can’t seem to find it online in Walmart anywhere thanks and advance for your response. Love your shows. God bless you and your family. Remember, go fishing when you can cause it’s good fur you.
I used to love fishing winter rivers the exact same way, slow and easy and let the fish swim for a min. or 2 before setting the hook. I also found blowing air in the tail kept it out of leaves and such on the bottom and created many more bites.
Great video as always and I had two elderly guys back several years ago had turned me on to that same style of fishing with the nightcrawlers. Great technique right there wooo !!
I use a similar rig but inflate the night crawler with a syringe and needle or a worm blower. It works wonders at keep the bait suspended above the bottom.
I'm the same as you. I gotta get back in the creeks with calmer water. I hate fighting the currents on the main lake with my jon boat. Great video. I gotta get out there in this cold weather and give this a shot.
Nice day on the water! You were fortunate to see that flock of wild turkeys, too! I had seven fly over my house a couple of weeks ago, and I felt so lucky...! They're very secretive birds...! God bless ALL of us! WWG1WGA
It's a pleasant change to see someone fishing with light tackle and enjoying each fish caught. I find it less interesting when people go out fishing with heavy gear and just winching in whatever bites so they can get back to casting and trying to find another bite.
Great video Gene!!!! The good old nightcrawler does it again. I'd like to see you go back to that same spot and see if you could catch any on artificial???? God bless and take care.
