I am enjoying your content. Keep up the good work. I spent eight weeks in VN this year, and decided to sell everything and relocate to Saigon. One way ticket purchased and I will arrive in 5 weeks! 😎 Keep making these type videos, they really help people that are in the research phase of relocating.
You are living the life I have always dreamed of. Whenever going back to Vietnam, I feel the real sense of belonging, the sense of "Yes, I'm home" because this is where my heart is.
More tips: Always use left brakes (rear) before using right brakes (front), unless emergency, press both at same time. Remember to release throttle when about to brake. Left Thumb should rest below horn button, ready to honk and react to communicate. Drive slow and respectful. Avoid the younger teenagers, they drive like maniacs, especially the girls. Constantly scan the rear with your mirrors is a must.
I learnt how to drive a scooter in Bali. The scooter lady asked, 'Have you ridden one before?' 'Yeah, of course, I'm an expert.' I had never touched one in my entire life. She made me turn it on, and I had no idea what I was doing. Eventually, I figured everything out, and I'm still alive. Viet Nam seems a bit scarier IMHO
That was helpful. I’m hoping to get the courage to try a 50cc one next time I’m in Việt Nam, though not in Sài Gòn, but maybe in less busy place like Vũng Tàu or Quy Nhơn.
Can you please make a video on how to travel to vn such as how to get money, how to spend money in the markets, safe place to rent from low to high end, how to work your phone... I want to travel there but don't know where to start.
You should put your own watermark for your channel so no one can copy your video. It’s easier and safer to ride the rotary scooters, much safer than automatic scooters, especially when you break. Rider would have to brave the traffic and just do it.
How do u navigate to ur destination? Do u learn all the street names before u go so u know when to turn or u have ur phone attached on ur scooter somewhere?
The biggest reason why I wouldn’t personally drive in Vietnam is the lack of driving rules and regulations, and not being used to the roads and the way local people drive….not worth the risk in my opinion
There's only one way to get used to the roads and that's practice. Some misconceptions - there ARE rules and regulations! It might look chaotic but there are rules. Cars keep left unless they're turning right. Free right turn. Stop at red lights. 50kph speed limit in cities, 60kph speed limit outside of cities. Bikes stay out of the car lane etc etc. The issue is there is very little enforcement - but everyone knows this so often people are more cautious. Some people aren't and they eventually pay the price. Once you get used to it it's not as bad as you imagine.
Vietnamese invented Asian driving. Joke aside, if you go to Vietnam and don't ride, then you will always be a tourist. Ride to the country side and you will understand serenity.
This is a misconception. Sure that kind of theft happens but it's very rare. Most grab/delivery drivers are using one hand to drive and one hand to use their phone a lot of the time. I started out with a phoneholder on my bike for navigation. These days I just pull over to the side of the road and check my phone (with both hands holding my phone facing away from the street) and I haven't had an issue in 6 years.
As a fellow white guy who has backpacked in South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia) and who lives and travels in SEA I think I'm qualified to speak on this. South America - pros and cons Pro: Spanish is spoken everywhere except Brazil which is incredibly convenient. It's an easy language to pick up. Small phonetic distance, no tones. Con: English is less popular in SA than SEA. People in SA are more likely to speak French or Portuguese as a second language. Pro: Some of the most amazing mountains on earth. If you like hiking, define SA. Pro: Wildlife - river dolphins, jaguars, capybaras, piranhas, monkeys, anacondas etc. Con: More dangerous. More petty crime, violent gangs, drugs etc compared to SEA. SEA - pros and cons Pro: If you like tropical islands, SEA is better. Con: Many different languages spoken across the region. If you want to move away from the tourist areas and have an 'authentic' experience it's difficult as you won't speak the languages. Pro: Tourist economies - many of the SEA countries are actively trying to attract western tourists such as yourself so they usually have a more developed tourist infrastructure. Pro: Safer for tourists Pro: Better English I recommend you do both 😅
@mikesmith - if ever you'll go to Colombia, beware of scopolamine and the drug/ theft gangs. Read up on it, as it has affected many tourists, including 2 vloggers that I know of.
In 5 minutes you had 3 near collisions 😂 Definitely people shouldn't be driving in Saigon, try somewhere like Da Nang or Nha Trang where the traffic is less chaotic
@@hypergiant1990 u will be surprised that price wont be much higher than downtown. alot of vietnamese live in thao dien. the area is safe and no traffice. less pollution. would u want that?
