I am a Italian and I lived in Canada for two years many years back. I have never been in Maine, but I know the very east cost of Canada and Northern USA is breath taking, simply magical. Wish I could make it my home one day. I guess one can always dream.
Good comments, Pietro. I am Bostonian, have lived in and around the city for many yrs now, but during my formative years (3rd to 9th grade) I spent them on an idyllic 90-acre farm in southern Maine. We weren't rich (just blue collar), but it didn't matter. Had our own hay field (about 10 acres) that doubled as a baseball field, that my neighbor and I played on for countless hours. One of those HUGE "Yank" barns (with our own hay loft to jump in with my friends...a LOT), owned a frog pond down our street, which conveniently doubled as a skating pond during winter! Mom tended to 3 BIG gardens, so we literally had all the veggies and wild blueberries/strawberries/blackberries we could eat and more than hold us over during a tough Maine winter. Larger point I'm making: dad sure knew what he was doing when he bought the old homestead/farm, as I tell ppl all the time, "I wouldn't have traded growing up there for anything" because I was bitten by the Maine bug, and once Maine bites you, you'll always want to come back. That's where I am nearing myself. Maine just has a special feel about it. You lived in Canada, so depending on what town/city you want to live, Maine RE prices are usually very reasonable (not unbelievably expensive like Boston), and with whatever trade you bring, you would likely adjust VERY easily to living in Portland/Maine. One of the few cities I know of that offers all the big-city amenities/restaurants/shopping/sports you could want, but still feels like a town of around 70,000 people. Hope you and your family are doing ok with this Coronavirus. I know Italy and the US have both been hit hard, but we're going to get past this too. Never give up on that dream about Maine, man! :)
My wife and I are from Florida and currently looking into moving to New England. That first part where the lady was talking about how accessible nature is from Portland without giving up its convenience reminds me of living out in Wyoming when I was younger. You guys are selling us on Maine!!
Be prepared for the cold! I made the mistake of moving here from Colorado and it is painful. The snow in Maine doesn't melt for MONTHS. It isn't the pretty white they brainwash you with in marketing videos. Nope. It is ugly, grey, slush that you can't play in. Also, be prepared to be shamed if you ever say that you miss the warm weather or sunshine from FL. People take offense if I ever even mention the sun or warmth of Colorado and just start bragging about how great Maine is. This is a state for people who don't want to do anything but sit around. Oh, and there are NO decent beaches here to swim in. The water will freeze you and 99% of them are just rocks. I am counting down the days until I get to move back to a world where people aren't addicted to their hometown.

From a 71 year old Maine man from Rockland to Buxton a few in between you cant beat this beautiful state an unequaled coast awesome lakes Hunting Fishing and so many things to do its very hard to get bored jobs ? Bath Iron Works very good pay they hire welders burners cleaners and many other trades and if you work there for 40 years you get an ok pension just being in Maine is worth a lot i would rather make 18 dollars an hour in Maine than 30 dollars in most other states Beauty is everywhere you look show them the oaks and the things they have to do there

I visited Portland last week for the first time in 20+ years, what a disappointment. I had lived in Portland and had a shop on Exchange St. What had been a charming town, with a neighborhood feel in the Old Port area and a nice working waterfront is now a classical example of unchecked development and gentrification. A town that I had once loved is now a town that I don't know/recognize.
Great cinematography, music is blah, story should flow better. Watch a few casey neistat videos. He tells a good story. Consistency is the key. This seems like one big commercial...commercials are boring...

Maine is just full of white people who think that they're full of culture because most have never seen anything else. I talked to a coworker the other day who tried to brag about having never, in her 50 year life, travelling to NYC. Uhhh... living in Maine and not seeing the value of visiting NYC? Nope. She didn't think it was worth it. This place is great for people who like to live in a tiny fishtank and not see the real world.
@@craigbowers4016 I don’t live in Maine, but who cares what race lives there.. if it’s beautiful and full of nature some people like the solitude and don’t care for city life. Has nothing to do with race you brainwashed fool.
