The onboard camera was taken on friday during the practice session when the 'track' was open to traffic. It's kinda crazy to think that powerful prototypes and well known drivers raced on open roads.
@@SuperMirco1998 There's another clip like that of Le Mans, i think it's Mike Hawthorne in a D-Type Jaguar, and he's doing a flying practise lap on the open road while comentating, with cyclists, cars and other road traffic as back in those days thee practise day was open, theres someone in the coments of that video talking about driving a beetle round there in 65 the day before the race and having Cobras, GT40s, 330s and so on pasing them on practise laps. Absolutely mindboggling to think about these days
I will always wonder what it was like as a race car driver back then, looked like so much fun. You just have people going about their day and then a race car rips by 🤣
To add, it's been added as a map in the sim racing game Asetto Corsa and streamer Jimmy Broadbent (on YT) has done a lap or two around it in a Porsche 911.
That's what I like to see! What actual street cars can do 💪 Those were built production cars, right 🤔 I was up really late, watching that. Oh shoot, I still have #2 to watch!
its risky can cuase damage to the guy in fronts transmisson , you can break your front wing , or crack the rain light which is a instant DQ if you dont have one
Tommy Hill's battle for first on Brands Hatch and David Hauser's ass-puckering save through Les Grippon at full speed on St.Ursanne are "the moments" in this compilation.Plenty of great ones, but these really struck me the most, along with Mikkelssen's save.
This is some of the best clips of Targa Florio I've watched here on the tube. Could be fantastic with same quality of the years 1960s-1972. In 2012 I drove the full 72k slopes (more or less, some parts sadfully was demolished) as a 40y birthday present to myself, getting away with claiming to my wife that "we've got lost" (she claimed about getting motion sick but enjoyed the view on a perfect sky clear day). Definitely, I was born in the wrong decade...would've loved to attend this spectacle in the golden age of motorsports.
No need to comment on the Targa Florio practice video. That speaks for itself . . . The three Audi's at the beginning?!? THAT'S racing . . . Hard fought, but with no intention of making any of them finish worse than third. Mutual respect for each others drive. Should be required viewing for ANYONE, ANYWHERE, wanting to race ANY vehicle. Much respect from me.
Hopkins was crying at the after race interview. I don't think he was ever mentally the same after that. Immensely popular with the crowd and a great character.
Back when you had to practice the Targa Florio while all the roads where open for traffic / pedestrians.. Now that was Road Racing. Wish I was alive to witness that back in the days.
