The reason being alone in the universe is scary is that it means there are no inhabitable planets other than earth. Which means that when earth is no longer inhabitable, we will have no where else to go. I am sure you got that, but if anyone didn't, then there you go.

SiR Ty there would also be the question were we always alone? If so why? If there was once other life why is it gone? Did sompthing happen to all of them? Will we suffer a similar fate? And there's just as many questions if there is other life. Are they peacefull? Do we have any chance if they aren't? If we don't know about them does that mean they don't know about us? No matter the answer there will be hundreds of questions.
