Riku makes a few mechanics work better by effectively doubling the number of cards that use them in your deck. He was originally going to be the commander for a squirrel deck before squirrels suddenly got a massive boost.
This is also my commander, my play group has decided that if I can untap with him I’ll usually win, we are playing a much more competitive meta so I’m trying to win turns 3-7.
Our games usually last an hour or more because we're all trying to manoeuvre and have fun but I know what you mean when you get a full turn with him out. The deck keeps turning into a complete runaway and I might take it apart because unless SOMEONE is playing control my friends end up sitting there watching me play Magic by myself and win and it's pretty consitent.
@@hiddenleaf414 Dualcaster Mage lines, Infinite mana combos with Dockside/Peregrine Drake and Temur Sabertooth/Deadeye Navigator. I’m running nearly every creature tutor as well as a way of cheating them into play (Neoform/Eldritch Evolution/Chord of Calling). Running Biovisionary as a way to win on the spot with a clone creature or twinflame. No need to go all in on the Biovisionary plan with Riku making 4 copies of him is very easy and sometimes just drawing him seems terrible. Winning fast almost always involves Dualcaster Mage, winning on turns 5 or later with Biovisionary is a lot easier.
If you want more cards that act like Crop Rotation, I would definitely reccomend harrow. It has the same clause of sacrificing a land so if you copy it you get 4 untapped basics. I love running it in my spell copy decks as a fast way to hit the ground running!
Do you like Maddening Cacophony more than Brain Freeze since copying Brain Freeze with Riku will only get you 3 more cards vs the other half of the deck if Cacophony was kicked? What other ways are there to win besides mill?
Using the most current version of this deck, I can draw myself to death with Laboratory Maniac, scry for more than my deck with Thassa's Oracle, or use the landfall triggers from multiple Rampaging Baloths or Avengers of Zendikar for plain ol' attacking.
