I have Parkinson’s and my doctor recommended modeling, for my dexterity. I’ve been collecting MP and 3rd party Transformers, so I found Flametoys, and then got into Gunpla. It’s relaxing and helps with my motor function.

I have mild tremors, one of the best therapy for me is to build plastic model kits. I couldn't take pictures steadily with a phone, but at least I could carve and remove nubs with hobby knives

@Cityslicker76 I have a Green cheek, so I built a spry booth and placed it in a window with a fan to draw out air. He is my wife’s bird and I love him.I’m a accomplished Chef and did well for myself early on in life so I lucked out. You might try spray paint out doors. There is plenty of people doing it that way. I’m glad you found the hobby, good luck, and always be patient with yourself. Don’t ever be afraid to push your limits. If life gets uncomfortable then ease back a little and hit it again. Mind over matter, stay positive.

I actually discovered gunpla while looking for masterpiece transformers, I immediately drew a connection between optimus prime's head and that of a gundam (I know I'm sorry sue me). I started with the HGBD Gundam 00 Diver and the 1/100 Gundam Barbatos. Now online I posted 2 other kits claiming them to be my first as I was ashamed of how they looked, cut out with nail clippers and I had a little sand paper lying around. It was always hard to actually get gunpla as it was either order it online or go 100+ km down to the nearest city (I live in rural Australia) to pick them up. At first they helped me build a bit more patience which actually started to translate over into my life. They kept me busy during covid and online schooling. But I hit a pretty rough patch with my mental health. I had 0 motivation to do anything. I lost relationships, I fell behind in school. I was always on the verge of giving up entirely. But I had gunpla, and having something to do, even if it was small, it gave me a sence of accomplishment that I was severely lacking in life. Starting from that, I was pull myself out of that massive all encompassing void. This was around a month ago that i seriously began to focus on my health. As of now, I've built around 50 or so (at least one of each major grade) and I would go as far to say that the each played a part in saving my life. Now I know that might sound stupid or dumb but I treasure each of these kits more than I can say. So yeah, that's a basic summary of what they mean to me. Thanks for reading if you got this far! Idk if anyone wants to ask me about this but I'd be more than happy to share

There IS a connection between the Gundam head and Optimus Prime's head. The guy who designed the original Optimus Prime (known as Convoy in Japan) was Shōji Kawamori, who is best known for co-creating Macross (known as Robotech in the west). Prime's head was based on the Gundam, and Kawamori would later assist with the mechanical designs of the Gundams in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, which takes place between the original Mobile Suit Gundam series and its sequel, Zeta Gundam.

I caught my son at about 3am building something in our dining room and although first irritated at the time I further inspected what it was he was building and now currently can’t get enough of Gunpla!!! I also now have dedicated an entire room to building Gundam kits. Watching the Gundam series and movies as well as all the great Gunpla content on RU-vid is how I spend an extreme amount of time. Thanks to my son!!!! Oh and by the way, I’ve found myself up at 3 am building Gundam kits on more than one occasion.

I remember walking past a hobby shop when I was a kid I was at a shopping centre and I walked past a hobby shop and I saw these insane robot figures, and it mesmerised me. I really wanted one but I was still young so I didn't get it. It was stuck in my mind for ages and after a while, I forgot about it, but I actually came across one of your videos and it all came back to me and I got my first kit then and I've been pretty engrossed in the hobby ever since. It has helped to get past quarantine and it's just calming in some aspects, and the satisfaction of the finished build is just amazing. The amount of things you can also do afterwards (painting/customising) is just mind-blowing as well.

I remember watching Gundam Wing when it first hit Toonami back in the day. I recorded every episode I could and would re-watch them over and over again. And then one day I was walking through my local grocery store and saw one of the old no grade wing kits. I was so excited that I asked my mom to get it for me and after about 10 minutes of begging, she agreed and got it for me. It was the Sandrock And I played with it so much. Then I started going on the Internet and learn there was more than just Gundam wing. Looking at all the designs pulling up on my 56K modem was just awesome and made me fall in love with the franchise as a whole.

I got in to gunpla after being a little kid surfing youtube aimlessly looking at cool robot stuff and stumbling across the franchise, I grew up a bit, found out more about it, and eventually started building, I'm not good by any stretch of the word but it's just fun. Gunpla to me is a process, I put work into the figure and I get enjoyment directly from that work, the build, and the end product. Gunpla has unironically changed how I look at action figures

I remember the night I first laid my eyes on a Gundam. It was an afternoon in a local anime store, they had a massive Gundam wall and my interest piqued instantly. It was like a part of my conscious had been unlocked to the sheer possiblities Gunpla provides. I was an early middle schooler at the time, the next time I went out with my mother I bought the Zeta Plus. I had no clue how to build kits, so I popped every part out with hand and got cut up a few times. While the product looked like I intentionally messed it up, I was so proud of what I was able to do and I have been going down and down the rabbit hole since

I was actually hooked into Gunpla when I was four years old when my brother had a 1/144 No Grade Saviour Gundam, which hooked me into the franchise. But me, being more of a destroyer back then, kept wrecking what Gunpla we had back then, including the MG Destiny (To which I still regret to this day at age 19). But it wasn't until I turned 18 when I got instantly hooked unto Gunpla again when I decided to give it another go by buying the HG Saviour and Gaia (Which are poor kits articulation wise and I brought it because I liked the Seed Destiny designs) and later the HG Justice Knight and the 00 Sky. And since then, I added five MGs onto my shelf and still collect more whenever possible

My sister indirectly got me into gunpla, a while back she had bought a pack of stickers and gave me the ones she didn’t care about. Within the pile was an interesting looking yellow, red, and blue robot, cue me spending way to much time on Amazon comparing Gundam models and figures. In the end I went with the revive granddaddy, my wallet hasn’t been the same since..... Since then gunpla has kinda been an escape, for a few hours at a time I just turn on some background noice and build a scaled figure. It’s just become a nice hobby to ignore the news and current world affairs relive some stress and have some fun

The look and transformation really reminds me of LFO's and their transformation into their ground mobility mode. There's something simple and effective when it comes to mecha basically just sitting down to make a transformation rather than the typical "laying down with a shield of it's face" that most Gundams use.

I got into gunpla as a teenager but stopped around 19 as I moved to study abroad. I met my best friend around 24 but he soon moved away to another country. However, we have been getting in touch ever since. My friend, who is a civil engineer, revealed to me that he has been back to gunpla for quite sometimes and this is one of the reasons for getting me back into gunpla 12 years later as we could find something more interesting to talk about despite the distance. The other main reason is that gunpla is something that actually cures stressful life and also depressions. It is something that I was able to find the joy to feel a bit more alive. For me, building a gunpla helps transfer me to another universe with mesmerizing characters, philosophy, and music

The journey has been great and I think im ready to run back through my builds and customize and paint. Ty for your vids man, they really bring the enthusiasm. The eclipse is gorgeous 😍.

My very first kit was the HG 1/144 Deathscythe Hell EW about roughly 20 years ago. I watched Gundam Wing and Endless Waltz back in the early 2000 and i always thought the designs were cool (and did not know at the time that Bandai made model kits of the mechs). As i was walking through a mall, I went into an EB Games (GameStop style shop) and saw it there and I thought to myself "this looks cool". The pics looked awesome on the box art and that was one of the suits I loved the most on the series (the God of Death), so it was a no brainer for me (plus, i used to do plastic model planes as a kid). So, it was this suit that got me into gunpla. 20 years (or so) later and i am still in love with the hobby (and my kids are into it as well now)

So actually it was iron blooded orphans that got me into gunpla, after I watched it, it immediately because my favorite anime and that was back when it first came out, safe to say that spot still hasn't changed but sadly I haven't build many IBO kits, just one actually, due to my location it is extremely hard for me to get new kits almost ever. Gunpla building is genuinely so important to me, it's a hobby that's kept me busy during times of difficulty. It's helped me in my fight with depression and loss. And not to mention, obviously Barbatos is my favorite Gundam ever.

I was on Netflix and iron blooded orphans was in my recommendation, I started to watch it and instantly loved it. However I started building Gunpla because my cousin brought me Barbatos as a birthday present, not knowing how to build it, I searched it up on RU-vid and found your channel review. After I finished barbie, the collection grew rapidly! I now have half of gundarium tier kits. Started 1 year ago and still going strong, the goal is to have all the Gundarium Tier Kits

I even started my own channel which was supposed to cover more Gundam, but primarily covers 1/18 scale action figures. I cover a lot of Joytoy figures which is also thanks to you, because of your video about the one of the mechs. Ahhhh feels good to get that out! Thank you MG 💀

Finally got the time to sit and watch this more than a few minutes at a time, and I gotta say I like the kit a lot more than I thought I would. The feet seem weird to me, but then they also remind me of the Thrones from 00 and the Gundams from IBO and then they don't look so bad. It is really cool that you can mix and match them with so many SEED kits, I LOVE the ability to kitbash kits like this. Honestly what got me into Gunpla is when Gundam Wing came to Toonami in the 90s(?). Those kits were horrendous though. I took a break from the hobby around 09, but after getting my now wife into the various Gundam anime and then later the hobby in 2013 when we built our first Gunpla together, the MG Tallgeese, it has been a constant hobby of ours, and probably our longest running hobby we enjoy doing together. We've played various card games, video games, but Gunpla seems to be the longest running constant we've had as far as hobbies we both can enjoy. And honestly, as obsessed as I've always been with the Gundam franchise, there's nothing better than finding such an amazing hobby you can enjoy with the person you love most.

What got me into Gunpla? I've seen Gundam 00 as kid dubbed in my local languange on TV and by the time I laid my eyes on Exia, it was love at first sight. By that time, I knew I had to get my hands on an Exia but during that time I had ZERO knowledge on Gunpla. After a few years of patience and saving, I finally got like 5 different Exia kits and I can say that it's satisfying that you got the dream kit you wanted as a kid. Cherry on top; you also get its variants in different grades! And I have been getting my hands on other Gunpla models that I fancy! I don't think I'll ever give up this wonderful hobby!

My cousin got me into Gunpla. Still remember I saw him having an SD version of gundam mk2 that looks amazing. He brought me to the same mall that he got his. We walked for an hour or two and I finally settle on a SD version of NT-1. It is fantastic. It is robotic but also cute. Back then I dont even know what gundam is. It was my first gunpla experience. Ever after I follow gundam anime and gundam full size model.

Being bored and watching iron blooded orphans during quarantine is what got me into gundam. But the thing that got me into gunpla was watching y-tubers like you and many of the speed build Chanel's. Also I have already built a barbatose which was the high grade barbatose lupus which was a very fun build and I would love to have another barby as my second kit even if it may count as 6 kits in one. TLDR, Gundam youtubers like you got me into gunpla, I have already built a hg barbatose lupus 1/144 and I would love to have another barbatose.

I grew up watching Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, Macross and Transformers because my dad is a huge giant robot fan, so I ended up becoming one too. It was until my teenage years that I watched the original Gundam, and I just fell in love with it. I didn't know about the kits yet, though. Years later, I was browsing youtube as usual, and came across your review of the Unicorn Gundam, clicked on it, and was amazed by how intricate and cool looking it was, so I saved some money and got myself the Dynames. It's been an amazing ride since then, I finally found something I genuinely enjoy. Thank you, Mecha.

I might be a bit late for the competition here but what got me into gunpla was actually the rare occasion that one of the transformers youtubers I watch would mention the line. Eventually I found the entry grade rx78-2 in some weird store that I'm still trying to deduct what the whole point of it is (it's called mini-so and its in the Columbia mall if anyone wants to chime in) and decided it was worth devoting some of my transformers fund to gunpla. The line means to me a fun, rewarding build and a well articulated scale model of a giant robot. (And by well articulated I mean by my transformers oriented brain where the ability to make the ankles tilt up and down is basically premium quality the likes of only the greatest products) In a weird turn of events I'm basically buying from both takara and Bandai, two eastern companies that I'm like 90% sure are direct competitors.

As a kid I was super interested in model kits+ planes etc, but hated to paint them. After a few years I stopped altogether. Before she died, my mom gave me a few Gundam and I didnt put them together because they didn't seem serious and required no paint or glue. Fast forward to last year, I got hit by a bus while walking and was paralyzed for six weeks. The only thing that worked was my hands and I was lying in bed for way too long! I asked a friend to bring them over and I ended up spending days straight falling in love with Gundam. I've gone through rehab and can (almost) fully move again, but I still buy and build Gundam kits because they remind me of my mom. We weren't close but she made an effort to connect with me, and I appreciate that so much.

Silly (but real!) story for the giveaway: In 2008, a relative of a man whose signature is on the Moon gifted me the first ever Master Grade RX-78-2 from 1995. I was only 4 at the time. Fast forward to May 2017, and my 13 year old self was so bored out of his mind watching a laughable documentary explaining how Moses could part the Red Sea using science, I dug the kit out of storage and tried to build it. No nippers. No files. No tools at all. In fact, I used a box cutter, a nail cutter and my teeth to cut those poor parts out. The kit was TERRIBLE, just like Mecha experienced firsthand in his EZ-8 review. The hands instantly crumbled after a few minutes of play, and my panel lining/‘weathering’ with a biro pen and a HB pencil didn’t do it justice either. It didn’t matter though, because I was HOOKED. After I bought the HG Barbatos I soon started my collection which now consists of around 20 kits, most of which are Real Grades (with admittedly broken parts!) Gunpla means so much to me because of the nostalgia it brings. Building a kit is a therapeutic experience that resembles a mature evolution of say, me building Lego sets as a child (particularly Bionicle). It’s also pure artistic freedom with unlimited customisation possibilities and mobile suit designs have influenced my tastes in vehicular design, as someone who wants to get into aeronautical engineering. Building Gunpla is a beautiful hobby.

So, I started back in 2012 or so when I started earning my own money through my first job. I had watched Gundam Seed before, and that got me onto 00, which led me to Wing and from there I got hooked into all of Universal Centuries content and got in love with Unicorn, cried with the last OVA. 100%. But before that, the first kit I went was an HG Hi Nu Gundam, I remember wanting something with epic wings/funnels/dragoons before and the Hi Nu looked like a great option, the color combination, the reviews I could find, everything. Bought that and a Heavy Arms (the old HG!) for my GF since she was a fan of Wing. It was a magical moment the first time we built those, I remember leaving nubs everywhere and painting some parts directly with a Gold Gundam Marker (Kinda like the RG has right now lol). ...From there it all went down. RG had just launched, went with the classic RX78-2, the Seed RG's, jumped through HG with many other models, bought a MG Char's Zaku 2.0 because I always been a zeon bastard... and even tried out a few Dragon momoko kits (and even Model Comprehend's Xi Gundoom). All this Gunpla mania led me to gathering a few guys over here and setting up "Gunpla Uruguay" with another epic dude that had years of experience already. We still get together from time to time to chat and discuss kits when we are not showing off the kits we just got. Nowdays I got a mountain of kits in my backlog, with many more P-Bandai's, and preorders waiting for me... and like a hundred of Vallejo paints in store for those, so I can't wait to keep builing and painting more kits! PS, I've got an instagram too, so if anyone wants to follow me @ this same nickname, I'll follow you back

For Giveaway: Got into Gunpla through LBX / Danball Senki, a series that actually did a crossover movie with Inazuma Eleven, a soccer anime (yes, really, they did that, and it wasn't half bad). I figured, hey, those are some pretty kickass little robots! And...well, it went from there. I got my first LBX kits for christmas, and a couple years later saw my first Gundam kits at a con in Antwerp. Got HG Exia Avalanche and Try Burning Gundam, and that was a hell of a start. Then Iron-Blooded Orphans started and I got totally hooked on the kits. Recently got my first RGs and I'm now 14 RG's deep, working on getting Hi-Nu and 2 more Evangelions. Building gunpla's become one of the few ways I can busy myself creatively this year. I'm a junior 3D character artist and got my degree two months back, but I've been dealing with wrist/thumb issues that have gotten in the way of being able to do any serious creative work all year. I don't have this problem when I build gunpla, and it still makes me feel like I'm doing something. It's not a cheap hobby, but it means a lot to me as a way to still *make* something even with my current physical limitations. It also served as my gateway into Evangelion, which I've since binged with my girlfriend, and which has rapidly become one of my favorite series of all time. Gunpla are that kind of escape from stress and work frustrations where I can just turn my brain off and build a cool little robot guy, and it's probably a good thing I saved up a lot of birthday money before I discovered just how insanely cool the little robot guys of the RG line are. Haven't built any MGs yet, though, since I'm kind of waiting for the right one to cross my path. Fingers crossed for MG Flauros. Also, your channel's been a great help in figuring out if I should get some of those RGs or not. It's great having such thorough previews of a kit before opting to get it, and knowing what to watch out for (e.g. RG Sazabi shoulders) is really helpful. So thanks for that too! P.S. Yes, RG Sinanju *is* loose and a parts grenade...but damn it, he's gorgeous!

My mom bought me a 1/144 Zoloat from V Gundam for my birthday because it was on sale at a local AEON. I was like 5 and didn't know what model kits were until then. I loved that thing, nub marks and gouged plastic and all. I met some friends in middle school who were gunpla veterans and they introduced me to proper building techniques via HG 00 kits. I was really impressed by the difference between the 1/144 Zoloat and the HG 00 Gundam, which was brand new at the time. I've been hooked since.

I’ve always wanted to have a Gundam kit way back before I was a kid but unfortunately its too expensive for someone who’s broke. I first had a taste of building Gundam model kits just a couple of years ago from my previous company who liquidated their old gunpla stocks. I immediately took my chance and bought three kits, a 1/100 FM Barbatos Lupus, RG Astray Red Frame and an Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina. I immediately fell in love with the hobby and every time I build a kit I just become more and more addicted to it. There’s this certain peace and calmness that I get lost into every time I sit and build a kit.

well, the reason why I got into gunpla is because of bootleg. I went to China to study chinese language and I saw very cheap SD gundam bootleg that costs like 1 usd, I bought it, and it became an addiction. It went on for the a whole year until I went back to my home country, then I stopped buying kits for few years. I came back to model kit because of LBX, and then HG IBO since those IBO kits were so cheap. and now I have quite a lot of bandai kits (100+ kits, not only gunpla though)
