I grew on Eskdale in Skem, went to Delphside & Wesbank Schools. I left in 1986. It's so sad to see Skem looking so bad. It was never beautiful but was so much better than it is now.
Skem is an amazing place, bud. There are a lot of local community volunteers working around the clock making Skem a better area, from litter picking and clean up work. Also, the Tawd Valley Project is incoming, doing fantastic work down the park.
Great place to live, as many areas in towns has its rougher spots. Is let down by a few clowns here and there. It is being heavily invested in though so hopefully this will encourage more people to care for this cracking place.
I grew up there , it used to be really beautiful back in the 80s and 90s . My sister still lives in Ashurst. Seeing the conny park and the derelict Glenburn makes me emotional
Man, it’s so weird seeing skem online, a lot of people don’t know about it’s so I never expected it to be online, aha! I hope someday skem will be sorted, it’s lookin better than it did a few years back anyway
Love your vids. I used to live in Skem in 70s. If you ever film Birch Green would be great. Everyday I walked from 13 fairstead, under the subway to what is now Woodlands Primary I think. It was a brand new school back then. Would be great to see that again. Thanks for the memories. 👍
i live in flordon skem moved up here 7 yrs ago from breck rd anfield and i have never been up the beacon yet but im just getting into wild camping and i thought im gunna make that my first video up there and with me just passing my amateur radio license may this year im going to take a radio and handheld and my tent and go up sometime next summer just to try the tent out first but yes its a shame about the dumping of rubbish but great video and see you soon ste in flordon birch green
Im shocked at how good the cinematography is on this, ive emailed the champion about your video for them to have a look at it hopefully they will put you in an upcoming issue
Amazing and very well made video. The music and images make me sad for this place. We have been in Birch Green since 1972. A lot has changed since then some good some bad. There is a terrible mentality about dropping litter everywhere that never changes. I don't have any answers for this. Hope you keep recording life in this town. I will subscribe and if you make a patreon link l will donate to your good work
As a young child we lived in Skelmersdale in the sixties when was being built.. Sad to see how neglected the estates have become... Same as here in Runcorn. The forgotten New towns.. Ship them out to a new house away from Liverpool and then leave them and properties to rot once again 🙄
