Welcome back to Day 4 of our hyperadobe roundhouse daily video challenge! I'm a little older and I just wanted to warn you to also remember to take it easy. After working extremely hard on our homestead the last 3 1/2 years my back acted up and I had to stop working so hard. My body is saying "enough". Our homestead was another one of our good buys, it was a foreclosure and we had to do a lot of work on our place but that is how we have always done it. Buy cheap, buy places that need a lot of work, do the work and reap the rewards.

I hope your back feels better! That is great that you got a good price on your place. Being injured is not what you want. I hope you're near to having most of the work you need to do done at your homestead although the work never really stops. Have a great week!

Try being a carpenter all your life. The key is for any new task on your body, is do not over do it,, keep switching to other task .

Being cautious on a homestead is extremely critical. Just last Friday while trying to remove a rattle snake from my greenhouse I fell off a ladder, & smashed my lower back on some growing pots. Bent me backwards like 90°. That fractured my L4 and L5. I guess extremely lucky to still be walking. Usually I have my phone with me everywhere I go but not that morning. Took me about 15 minutes to crawl back inside so that I could call for help. Everybody that lives off grid should be extremely careful. You're most likely a long way from any kind of emergency services. Then if you like me you're alone with no one there to help if trouble should arise. Doctors told me I'm not allowed to lift my propane tanks, gas tanks, or even my laundry basket. Kind of made living out here impossible in the short term. Really wanted to sign up for the workshop, but would be pretty useless now. I'd also love to come down and build these guys or help them build a cop pizza oven. Woodfired Pizza will always be way more amazing than what comes out of that fancy, slick pizza oven lol. But now I'm out of commission it sounds like till January. Please everyone be safe on your off-grid journeys.

@@robertmccully2792 My hubby has been a carpenter all his life, he is well aware of backpain. This time it was me. We are close to getting done with the major things. We are getting stuff to reroof the greenhouse now but like you said the work never gets done.

@@beautanicalgardens6353 We have rattlesnakes too, killed about 10 of them so far. We had 1 this summer and I had hubby cut off the rattle. They startle me and I'm afraid I will fall or something. Hope your back gets better.

BTW, I watch your videos from Indiana. This is my husband's home state. I'm from California. We met in the military, but our kids were raised in Phoenix. We came back to Indiana to be near my husband's family now that we are older. (In our 70s.) I miss Arizona very much. I have a lot of family out there. Watching you guys almost makes me feel like I'm visiting family. Thank you for being there for me

In the summer at eight and nine years old my brother and my friends would come of our apartments to play in the street flooded with 4 or 5 inches of rain, and swim at the pool. In Las Vegas the summer rain made it possible to be outside on the street to play barefoot, skidding on pieces of wood we could find. Those are good memories for me.

There is nothing strange to find your own fun when you are young. I come from a family of 10. My friends were my brothers and sisters. And a good memory is when it rained we would rush outside and run, stand and gp barefoot squeeshing in the mud and lie down on the grass enjoying the rain . The sensation is out of this world. I'm 69 and I'm still walking in the rain with barefeet. The love of rain has never left me. 😀

The pizza oven is a great idea if you've got room for it! Our "pizza oven" has to be an air-fryer; and our go-to fast meal recipe is what we call a "quatro": a large tortilla with four sections of ingredients on a base (pizza sauce, ricotta cheese, pesto, etc.); then slice into the pizza from the middle to the edge; fold the tortilla over into a quarter-pie shape; spritz it lightly with your favourite oil, then air fry it for 4 minutes each side. Done & yum!

Pretty sunrise! The Airstream looks great all washed up. Ocho looks really nice too. Concrete looks great too. I like your story of cleaning off your driveway. I didn't do laying on the concrete in the rain but I loved to jump in huge puddles when I was little. The bigger the better! I didn't swim in the ditch but I would walk in the creek for miles and it was so fun. Sometimes it would be deep enough it was at my waist. I'd find crawdads and play with them. That did sound fun Ashley! For my kids I would dress them up in rain boots and coats and take them out to jump in the puddles when they were young. They loved it. It does look hard to dig that sewer trench Jonathan! Yay, you got your load of gravel for the trenches. Workshop and Dino peeking his head over the wall at 11:05! Great, old steel pipe to encase the pipe and lines under the hyperadobe walls! Wow, he even cut it for you! Thank you James! I hope the photo shoot went well! Wow, that pizza looks fantastic! Wow, pizza cooked in 2 minutes! Pretty sunset! I like how shiny the pizza oven is. It fits right in with the Airstream. Thanks for this video Longnecker family!

When I was young I would lay in the street gutters when it rained and let the water splash over me as it ran down the curb. So when I wash off my cement porch now I stomp in the water. Such great memories. I love your channel.

We named the huge puddles on the street after the name of the family that lived on it and added, "Lake!" We would drive our bikes through to see how high the splash was. We came home soaked, and our parental units were thrilled, not! So long as you weren't hurting any people or animals or setting fire to the neighborhood, you did fine!

One time when I was about 6 we had a huge rain and the ditches were full to the top. We lived in a small town where my whole family lived and everybody knew everybody. One of my neighbor friends and I swam those ditches for hours! Lol!! We got in a little bit of trouble but had a blast!! I loved playing in the rain! Recently my grandkids were here and we had a warm rain and I went out in it and they literally stood under the deck roof looking at me like I’d lost my mind!! I never did get them to come out in it with me! 😂

We played in the rain, caught tadpoles in the ditch to try to make them frogs...When I was a teenager, I house and dog sat for a couple when they went on vacation for three months. I got to spray clean the back patio and it was a surprisingly satisfying job....I totally get it! When work is fun, it is more enjoyable :D

It's good that you have memories of your childhood and doing what you wanted to. For me when it would rain I would always go to our family hay barn and lay down on the hay and listen to the rain hitting the metal roof so relaxing ❤️

Not just another day for the tiny shiny home but a wonderful day because they used their pizza oven which looks yummy to me I don't mean the oven I mean the pizza but I think I'm gonna have to have one in the backyard so go to the backyard and eat leave my kitchen alone. I’ve been wanting a pizza oven forever. I made wood fire pizza on my Weber. Best pizza ever. Got that Weber over 900 degrees! I understand wanting it almost everyday. It’s that good!

The rain was always too cold for playing in it to be fun -- even in August when it was super hot. But there was an old roadbed near my childhood home. It had the best ditch for building dams, making waterfalls, and catching tadpoles.

When I lived in NC there was a pizza place that did apple pie pizzas they were amazing. I tried to replicate in an oven was always off but I bet that pizza oven could pull it off.

I pre made pizza crust for last Thanksgiving, I precook the crust enough to hold its shape and I made 40 8 inch crusts. I provided the sauce, cheese , sausage, pepperoni, olives, mushrooms, bacon, and lots of cheese. I gave people the crust and had a pour container for the sauce and lots of bowls of toppings. I made sure to write people's name on the plate because we had people making their pizza. We made pizza for two days every body loved the pizza event. Just sharing my pizza experience feeding lots of people pizza.

Didn’t lay on wet concrete driveway, but there was a ditch in front our childhood home, it had a culvert that went under the street. Didn’t take long to go from play in the ditch to floating under the street in the culvert. Crazy kid fun, I’m sure my parents had no idea what we were doing.

Not weird. I grew up in rural Michigan, our dirt driveway had a dip that would fill everytime it rained we would 'swim' in it as well.

You need to use your milking station as dog washing station. Or build one like it for dogs. Makes it much easier.

I had to laugh when you talked about Whit cement driveway and laying in the on the cement when it was raining, we used to do the same thing. Also we lived nearby an irrigation ditch and in the summer when it was really hot since we didn't have a swimming pool we'd go swim in the irrigation ditch LOL! The things you remember on certain days of your your life LOL

We had a side yard and it would get this huge puddle in it and we would run through the puddle splash play then hose ourselves off and I don’t think you were weird we did the same thing it was a lot of fun young people may think it’s weird but I don’t I love your channel! My memory of 'after a rain' play, was all of us kids playing in a puddle that was huge to us and reminded us of a lake or sea. We would sail our leaf boats and build twig houses on the banks. Childhood is magical sometimes.

We didn't have any concrete but we definitely dug "pools" in the backyard and when we got older we went "swimming" in the ditch along the front of our house. Those are good memories and I haven't thought about times like that in a very long time ❤😂

Save yourself some time, just set the bottom of pipe height at the beginning of run and at the end of the run, lay pipe in, then fill/dig as needed between the two. Easy peazie.

Ah memories. I remember summer in WV/OH w my cousins n u just described some of my most favorite things. How about walking back barefoot from the community pool n making sounds into the box fan while drying off before going inside for lunch?
