Its not technically better than fh5 but it was way better for its time. It added a lot of features to the forza series that people wanted and has the most diverse and interesting map
It's just good old nostalgia, like with nfs most wanted 20 years longing for a game people played when they were 12 yo, that feeling is never coming back because most of the people that complain are grown ass men, you don't see 10 or 12 years kids complaining about forza horizon 5, because for them is their most wanted, if that game came out when I was that age I would had spent days upon days on it
Removing the nostalgia glasses it is still objectively a good game for it's time. It has innovated in a lot of aspects whereas FH5 (and FH4) is just kind of the same game but with small additions and a different map. Even as a person who has no nostalgic connection to this game, I see it as a good game.
Forza Horizon 3 felt more cohesive as a game. I also liked ranked mode actually having some meaning, and wall-riding being less prevalent. Music in FH3 was great. The feel of the location was top-notch. Progression felt more impactful (not great, but somehow FH5 is worse).
I think the reason why people are starting to get bored of FH5 is the formula, it didn't changed much from the first game, and having the same formula for more than 10 years obviously is going to get boring.
Actually I think it's the opposite. The formula for the original game was basically what made it so great. It actually has been changing for every new release. In the original Forza Horizon, it was just a small festival in Colorado with wristbands and racing. But it felt real, and like a plausible event you could see happening in real life. I forgot what Forza Horizon 2 was like mostly, but as far as I remember it was a similar thing, but they just expanded the festival slightly, and you were a slightly bigger role in said festival. Like how in the beginning you helped deliver one of the cars to the festival, for example. But it was still very well-made as a game, though the 360 version was obviously "eh". Forza Horizon 3 was when they began pushing it when it came to the series. Not only was it expanded even more, but now suddenly you were the boss of the festival, with the festival having a significantly larger budget, and doing crazier things. It was like torn between realistic and fictional/impossible. Especially when the Hot Wheels expansion came out, although it was still a bit of fun. I don't even _know_ what Forza Horizon 4 was supposed to be by the time it came out. It just felt even more fictional and crazy. It was significantly more unrealistic, and people didn't like that. Forza Horizon 5 is the same way. Massive expansion, massive budget, I think you're still supposed to be the boss too. Crazy, wacky stunts, a giant floating Hot Wheels track in the sky, you name it. By this point the game felt more unreal than ever. But at the same time, they feel bland. Forza began to stray away from what made the original great. The original Horizon festival felt like a real thing, something that you could _believe_ in. It felt like a real concert that had like racing events on the side. And even Forza Horizon 2 tried to remain similar. So yeah, they did change the formula, I just think the reason why it feels the way it does is they've managed somehow to change it completely while not exactly bringing anything new to the table. Or at least anything new that people actually _wanted_ if that makes any sense? All the stuff they've been adding with each release is basically things people are _snoozing_ over. And that's why it feels so boring. People want more games that feel plausible. I mean look at The Crew 2. It's basically trying to mimic Forza Horizon with its style and gameplay. Some massive cross-country event where you can do anything you want. It's even unrealistic in the sense of weird things like vanities (electric tire smoke? really? lol) and unrealistic physics. You can also race on rooftops somehow and can change vehicles on the fly with no loading screens, so if you're flying a plane and suddenly want to skydive in a car, you press a button and you transform into your car. While it's still an okay game, I and many others still prefer the original game because it felt more real and grounded.
People have been dealing with these games that keep feeling more and more unreal, and that formula in particular is getting boring. It feels bland because their attention to all the extra stuff that people don't necessarily want, is attention they could've put towards the important parts of the game, and they didn't really do that. People want to go back to games that feel grounded and realistic. If you told someone your game had a flying hot wheels track, they'd think you were playing an arcade racer, not a "realistic" sim/simcade racer.
@@leomux2004 Yeah... there's just too many games that try to be unrealistic and weird in their own ways, and I want to go back to when games tried to be more grounded. I've never played DiRT 5 but from what I've seen, even that looks to be the same thing. Some big unrealistic event thing with vibrant colors and weird handling. But look how more believable games like DiRT 2 especially were. Then you had NFS Heat and Unbound which are both also unrealistic, though they've always had arcade handling as well, so I guess(?) it's fitting. The market is oversaturated with these wacky things. If we had a simcade or simulation open world racer that dropped all the weird aesthetics and tried to be significantly more realistic, I guarantee it'd sell like hot cakes. It's why people wanted Gran Turismo to have an open world game for so long, because they've always been somewhat better when it comes to that kind of style.
Personally, for me, fh3 had the best multiplayer out of all of the fh games which really made it a blast to play with friends for all the years i played it for. also the areas for playground games and meets/drift events were so plentiful which made a huge effect on meets and drift events with friends
Horizon 3 improved on more than 5 did, and it had more features removed in subsequent games. 1 and 2 are my favorite but 3 was the last that actually tried to be different. When it comes to 5, no matter what gets added, I simply don't find it fun to drive around. The map looks cool but the roads themselves are so incredibly boring in anything but X class
For me, i love the map and the general ambience of Horizon 3, not to mention the beautiful skies as well! But there are features that were improved upon in the later games (like photo mode, designs/liveries, menu layouts, etc). Only if it would run a little better in my PC!! 😫
FH1 has always been my favourite. They nailed the formula of a storyline, along with actual progression, and even having performance limits on races (rather than starting off with carte blanche immediately). Cannot wait for TDUSC!
God I remember just watching people play this on RU-vid for hours and hours back in the day 😢 back when I didn’t have a console this was the coolest game to me
The airports in the two later games are just crap, 5 with all the garbage laying around looks a complete mess. The airport in 3 was neat and tidy, and a place that feels good to be in.
Great video. Definitely a lot of features that are in Horizon 5 came originally from Horizon 3. I do miss custom championships though. Also, will you be trying out the Porsche Mission R in Horizon 5 soon?
@GH0STST4RSCR34M FH2 1000% worst than fh5 People crying over 1 Recycle car in season pass fh5 Fh2 4 recycle Season pass pays (Acura rsx type s, Ford mustang 2 Cobra, Ferrari maranello and bmw 850csi.) All car come for forza motorsport 4.
@@kevinmorales9795 the whole festival road trip experience is what made it fun and immersive. The game felt like it had depth. Simplistic doesn’t always equal boring. I personally find the tracks in FH2 more fun and challenging than FH3. FH3 has great rally tracks and better DLC but H2 + Storm Island brings back way more memories for me and my friends.
@@kevinmorales9795 because you're not given supercars from the get go and have to earn them. That's what I meant. In modern FH games, you can get whatever you want from the start. It kills the progression imo.
Don't have an access for first and second games but I've heard that progression in first Horizon was the best. Played 3, 4 and 5 entries and I'm gonna say from all of them I'd pick Horizon 4 for a very weird but simple reason. It has the best menu cutscene and soundtrack which is different from every other Hoizon game imo. It feels like a Journey when you're watching how Senna going through all seasons.
If you're playing on PC, the xenia emulator works well with horizon 1 If you're on Xbox and can get your hands on a disc, 1 and 2 should be backwards compatible
@@existentialselkath1264 Can confirm, started playing yesterday and was surprised how well it runs on my GTX 1060. The important part is to use xenia canary or at least on my system the main xenia version crashed every time i got in the VW in the introduction and had textures missing. And you have to edit a line in the config file or it will crash way more often. (change "mount_cache" to true)
I still think my favourite has got to be the og FH1, it may be outdated now, but it was so much fun and had a sense of drive to complete the main story line
I think that the forza developers should make forza 6 where you could actually be able to travel to other past maps, I think that would be a cool thing for their next game
1,2 and 3 always felt like there was more happening, likely down to players having a lot more interaction with you, like if you went to the car park in horizon 3, there would always be a few people either parked up or drifting
Bro I miss the nostalgia of grinding the festival just to be able to roll in style and drag race, all before the days of xbox cutting off old games so people can't buy them 😢
I'll be honest. At the time. Forza Horizon 3 was amazing. It was just a lot of fun honestly. I'd have to say the best Forza, might actually be Forza Motorsport 4. That game was amazing. Revolutionary as well. Just so good. So nostalgic. It holds up today. Just my opinion. Y'all have a good day.
It may not be objectively the best, but i Love it. It has the most dramatic visual style, an amazing photorealistic skybox, beautiful scapes, an amazing soundtrack and just good vibes overall. The garage is very stylish as well. It just feels good and interesting to be in.
One thing I'll hold that fh3 still remains the favorite to me is the way multi-player was separate and the clubs had a ranking with other clubs and other fellow club members. It felt more competitive and there was more of a feeling that you were in a club. Instead now multi-player is integrated and it's the club that feels separate from the game.
Fh3 is the best forza, it continued the fh1 story, the multiplayer, online racing, map is vibrant and alive. The clubs worked, online convoys and driver line-ups. Lets see, the airport is better, its modern, parking lots exist. Roleplays felt better. The Goliath is better than fh4 and fh5s. We had fun little glitches and no game breaking ones. The campaign for all the maps took about the games lifespan to complete. Blizzard Mountain and hotwheels both had extra challenges to do while in the race. It also improved on the bucket lists. Lets think what did 2 have? Repetitive championships and roadtrips. Sure it looked better and the cars sounded good but the online and gameplay was a snooze fest
For me the only thing forza horizon 5 has going for it is event labs and the camera mode. I don't care about the map... at all. There's no substance or life, driving around feels lifeless because there's no environment. Houses look like they were built by NPC's. Racing on roads feel kinda random. Idk, i hope forza make a horizon game with a better structure for environment. Make a city that feels alive? I also feel exactly the same about the crew. For some reason NFS has always had a good feel to me.
Hey theo, I'm recommending you to a mobile game ( well that's if already played it before😅) called real racing 3. It's not open world like forza and NFS but it's a good track racing game that I think you should check if your interested 💁🏾♂️ would also like to hear your review about it as well😁
Wish Horizon games went the route of Midnight Club with how openworld racing worked. I know it's more realistic in terms of how roads work in Horizon but it isn't as fun as a chaotic openworld racing game as Midnight club was.
I still think in terms of how the atmosphere is supposed to be surrounding the horizon series, that the first one was the best. Simple story, car list wasn't bloated with exotic hypercars, in my opinion a better radio sounding, and most importantly was the fact of no avatar. Sometimes the simpler the game the better.
If we are talking about nostalgia, i wish one day you would play the old Need For Speed games, like "Need for Speed High Stakes". It would be fun to watch your reaction.
Did the drone mode actually improve? I don't think it has changed at all since its introduction in FH3, and it's quite annoying. Why restrict the max height of a tool that can help content creators make awesome content! We need more cool camera stuff, like The Crew. FH4 is my fave of the series. Each to their own. Great video nonetheless, cheers from a Forza player from AUS. 🇦🇺 🍻
The map in 3 is a place I want to be, Australia looked awesome. FH4 was boring country roads and rain, with some very poor design choices, like a train cutting the crappy airport drag strip in half.5 is full of poverty and dumped garbage all over the place, the map looks terrible.
Im actually starting to give Horizon 4 the love it deserves. At first it was meh to me, but the more i play and cruising around, the more i love it. It looks better than Horizon 5 (in my opinion) and the map feels way more alive than mexico does.
4 is hated for no reason . It looks beautiful and seasons add character to it, sounds could've been better. The backdrop some may find it boring but i really like the roads. Ambleside - Glen Rannoch is just too good same can be said about the coastal road.
one of the reasons why i prefer horizon 3 over 5 is because of the singleplayer experience, the singleplayer in fh5 is terrible (and improving on features at the cost of the singleplayer does not make a game better)
Imo Horizon 4 had the best car list. There was so many more cars that were so cool like the Quadra Turbo from Cyberpunk, the Kia Stinger and so many other cool cars
make a video about who invented what in racing games, i know open world was nfs and radar was nfs, having a house and custom character was a test drive, drift area was forza?
Theres much more things i like about horizon 3 than i like in horizon 5. Like map, progression, expansions, music , generally the festival vibe.. Just because 5 has more car simply doesn't cut it. Its impressive at first wow 600,700 cars!!! But after a while i realize i rather have gameplay features rather than a car that im gonna unlock and then dump in the garage and not touch again
Maybe it's not the best Horizon game but it's my personal favorite... It was the first Horizon game I bought and the first to bring Forzavista, the first to bring Widebody kits, the first one to bring a map with different "ecosystems"... This Horizon is very special for me...
This game is not the best for the sole factor of PG messing up the Performance Index of the game. They fixed it with 4/5 greatly but I still think 1 and 2’s was more balanced and challenging
only been playing forza since fh3 and exclusively on PC. I've never bothered with the story in forza cuz I never played fh1 but I do a lot of online multiplayer, and I like the fh3 system where you can vote for the next round and tell you which track you will be racing instead of just random round in fh4 and fh5. But the addition of ghosting to prevent ramming in fh4 and fh5 is really good. Also it feels like the meta cars in fh4 and fh5 are more OP compared to fh3, I don't know if it's just me but in fh3 you can be competitive with broader types of cars instead of 1-2 cars dominating the field now. Overall there are plus and minus for each forza horizon games, can't really pick a favourite though cuz I enjoy every single one of them, but probably less so of fh4 because I was late to the party because I bought nfs heat at that time (massive L)
Time and time again we are seeing over the years best graphical games doesn't mean it's the best game. Also games with a lot of feature but have horrible physics it's not the best game also. Forza Horizon 5 is a really good game but it's a very boring game well to me.
although horizon 3 is the only one with a complete city, i do think that the previous game also had pretty well established urban areas with mutiple towns and cities dotted around that had actual hubs and festivals. Nice is also really nice looking, it almost feels complete entering thru the northern entrance into the city because of the houses and "suburban" areas, it isnt as big as horizon 3 but it had a lot of soul.
I'm still waiting for a Horizon game to add the option to have a "car appearance doesn't affect performance" toggle/option so that everyone can put whatever body parts to the car they want without having to sacrifice handling, speed, etc. 😔
3's map and a few Australian cars that didn't make it to 4. My perfect brew would be 3's map with 5's textures and 4's race format and drifting events.
Forza horizon 3 is the greatest Forza Horizon game and imo the greatest racing game of all time I get to drive my no.1 dream car the Porsche Carrera GT and loads of other fine rides and I get to drive in one of my favorite countries in the world aka Australia
Mate your favorite game of 2022 is Saints Row so you wouldn't know quality if it hit you in the face so I don't expect you to admit Horizon 3 is a better game. Jk, everyone can have their own taste and preferences but I had more fun with Horizon 3 and except the multiplayer, map/world & DLC Horizon 5 is the better game.I think people kinda got fed up with getting basically the same game since Horizon 3.Oh and I played both on PC and the performance of Horizon 3 was horrendous so that's another plus for Horizon 5.
I dont know if anyone else feels this way but for me every new Horizon game that appeared after FH1 was mainly a dissapointment. None of the 4 sequels came any close to being as good as the first one. This game felt complete and the things we get nawadays are just empty shells of what we once had. Only FH game that made me wanna play for longer than a week was FH4 cuz i loved the idea behind the seasons, but still it wasnt the same. Im not saying the games are bad or anything. I just dont feel like paying 70 euro for a new map skin.
The only way to get It due to End OF Life Is finding a xbox disc... Found one and I only need to hook up the xbox one s... Been to the gold coast area last year so this IS why I wanted It
