I needed this video cause I’m also one that lives in Portland and is high Scoot and I swear with the people around me I’m the only one actually praising Scoot for his improvements he’s been making in the past month
@@Moffo-fp1kd They all couldn’t get Miller cuz y’all poverty franchise got him first. An’ I seen he done got like 35 t’other day but then Scoot, he just had him some 30. So y’all go better get busy catchin’ y’all some possum fer supper, son
I thought as an nba community it would already be know that it takes point guards a longer time than other positions to adjust to the NBA. Glad to see scoot flashing the star potential that was evident on his g leauge inite tape more often recently. If he can have a similar shooting development to deaaron fox he’s going to become a really scary player
Excited to see scoot and miller improve and compete to see who’s better. Cuz of where they were drafted, they are gonna be compared just like Luka/trae.
They’re rebuilding but they also have Ant Simons who’s only 24 and also needs the ball in his hands. I expect that one of them will be traded in the next two seasons
@@gregbors8364 I hope it's Ant that gets traded because he's not a point guard. When he plays point the offense stagnates and most of his assists come from passing out when he's doubled. Similar to CJ. But when Scoot plays point the offense looks a lot more active. Now that his shooting is improving, I'm not worried about any of the other things so astutely pointed out in this video because he is improving so rapidly. I remember how bad Dame's finishing was in his first year. Now look at him.
@@gregbors8364 Cronin has shown he won't be pressured into making a rushed decision, so you may be right. With the new CBA kicking in next year, good players who are not on max contracts such as Ant will probably be desirable because three max players (as on the Suns) will not be possible anymore.
I was so high on scoot when he got drafted. He started out rough but I’m so glad he is playing better and is having resurgance. Can’t wait to see were he is at in a few years.
Totally unrelated to the breakdown but I just really feel the need to say how satisfying this man’s voice and delivery is. Like whenever he ends a sentence with “Jumper” I lowkey get a shiver down my spine its just so good
I think people were just kinda used to this type of thing because most of the top rated point guards recently did have immediately insane results: Cade,Lamelo,Luka,Trae,Ja
Good journalism. No Hot Take BS like most. As a Blazer Fan since 79 I wouldn't Trade Scoot for Any Player in the NBA. I've been watching Forever and know Greatness when I sew it. So many of these Hot Take are gonna Eat there Words. They'll be on his jock soon.
I'm a Pistons fan and want to remind everyone Cade Cunningham was a abysmal the first month or so of his career too. Due to him missing all of last season due to injury this is essentially his 2nd season. Right now he's at 22, 7 and 4 on 45/34/85 shooting splits. All development isn't linear. Some of these guys just take some time. I mean look at Scoot's coach. After being given up on by multiple teams in his first 5 years or so Chauncey Billups eventually developed into arguably the best player on our 2004 title team. It's jarring because Scoot came in with so much fanfare, but just be patient.
the launching before there is an actual finishing opportunity is what Ja does so well and its what makes him so difficult to stop. Scoot doesn't have the hangtime or at least he hasn't figured out how to use it.
Thanks for making this. People are still hating on Scoot which is crazy. He's still pretty inconsistent but the improvements are obvious. If he can continue to develop he will become a very good player
His athleticism (especially) for a 19 year old was hella impressive but I didn't really like his vibes when coming to the league - cocky, attention-seeking, immature. However I feel like that changed and he was humbled by his rough start. Hopefully he learned from that for his own good and will excel in the future!
I thought calling him a bust a month into his first season was very premature. It takes most point guards several years before figuring out the NBA game. Good to see he’s improving
Scoot is dope, he’s an absolute nightmare. With some pieces to the team added, this team will be exciting to watch, he’s coming and people best be ready that’s for sure 😤👍
I like seeing young guys get better or learn game to game. Mathurin is another guy who still needs to work on consistency, but he shows flashes of being an elite scorer.
Just saw him play in Denver, bro shot like 1-11 going into the third, he passed well and played good defense but he was just not hitting shots, could’ve won them the game.
I truly think we made the right decision getting scoot! didnt look so good in the beginning but hes starting to prove the doubters wrong! scoot will be one of the best guards in the league by next year!
Trae and Luka has kind of skewed how guards are supposed to develop. Both of them were anomalies and now everyone thinks that guards must be like them or theyre bust but in reality, guards take the longest to fully adjust to the league.
People expect a fully developed all-star right out of the box. That will happen occasionally, but less and less in this era of guys entering the league after no college or just 1 year of it.
Everybody should know that small guards take longer to develop, and don’t forget that Jamal Murray also averaged 10 points and 2 rebounds per game and now he’s a superstar, there’s a reason scoot was 3rd overall pick because he was also a generational talent, once he gets his groove he’s gonna be a superstar trust me on that!
They don't like him cuz he looks like a 20 years old Shaft. Credit him and B-B-B-Billups for his development this year. I think coming off the bench is helping him get his confidence. I just saw him get 33 in his last game as a teenager vs the World Champions. 🏀 Catchy first name is a blessing and a curse. 🏀✌🇺🇸🇵🇸🇺🇦
Brandon Miller clears. He was the right pick at 2 and that’s why the conversations have been what they were cuz everyone wrote off BM and calling him a bust the moment he was drafted and that Scoot was the better player and had “star” potential from day 1. Looks like it’s the other way around. I wish Scoot Henderson all the best though.
Hope scoot peeped this. Just so he can see himself through someone else’s eyes. Maybe you peeped something he hasn’t about himself. Would also be nice for him to know we rockin w him.
He reminds me of young Westbrook. Both super athlethic rim runners. He just gotta take his time and work on his game in off-season. Considering he already improved mid-season I say he can become better than most people expect him to be. I mean look at how much defensive attention he gets. Last time rookie to get that much attention from defenses was when Luka was a rookie.
the media is the worst thing to happen to sports besides betting people that have never played sit and talk into a mic about something they have never experienced the criticism is absurd hes a rookie judging him based off 9 games is the problem with todays game
Last weekend Blazers had two road games in a row in Denver. (Weird ¿Right?) Scoot was easily the second most impactful scorer they had behind Anfernee Simons. That whole team plays good D, but they lack severely in size inside the paint. Simons may be in danger of stealing Porter Jr's middle nickname and being known as Anfernee "Never swings the Rock" Simons. IMO ✌🏀🇺🇸🇵🇸🇺🇦
The problem is we live in this microwave era where ya expect everyone to be nice out the womb. Back in the days , players would barely play there first 2 seasons
That's old news though. And people went too far to say that he was a bust because he isn't nba-ready. Blazers don't even need him to be NBA ready when they're tanking. He still has potential to make consecutive All-Star appearances in the future. Maybe with luck the next Damian Lillard
40% at the rim is stellar for a slasher type PG/facilitator for sure. Can’t wait for him to develop into 32 year old John Wall in a few years. He is playing just like anyone who actually watched his games outside of the Wendy showdown expected. People gotta get off this “pg with a 40 inch wert” meme that’s been going on the past 5 years or so. Actually watch their game and you will be able to tell the difference in a Ja vs Scoot every time. His basketball IQ is super subpar for a pg.
I don't think you use the word stellar properly. Isn't it supposed to mean Amazing or something like that? That said why would he develop into a 32 year old John wall(the version of Wall that doesn't have any athleticism whatsoever) and not a prime John Wall? (Wall being another Slasher type PG with questionable Basketball IQ and efficiency Issues)
Yeah folks are too into the instant gratification short sighted twitter likes based attention span and forget not he’s a rookie at one of the hardest positions to adjust to the nba in. Only casuals were calling him a bust so early on.
