You ain’t lying about good cables . I got my first VCO synth after decades of VST or NCO / DCO “digital” synths . Anyone I just put some plain instrument cables temporarily. Then a few days later switched to my preferred Mogami Gold. It was incredible the difference. Not just some change in quality, but attenuation (which surprised me) I kid you know we’re talking about 10-20db difference.
Balanced vs unbalanced makes an incredible difference. Cheap XLR/TRS is still gonna smash really nice TS cables in terms of noise floor/dynamics. Take it from a guitarist who has over 1k in unbalanced cables/patch cables. Use balanced whenever you have the chance, if you dont believe me take take it to a music shop or borrow some to A/B.
I have the Matriarch and Grandmother. Both are absolutely amazing synths and nothing else compares. You dont even have to patch them, just adjusting the knobs alone gives so many different sounds. Hope youre well.
@@jayall00 oh man its really hard to choose. Paraphony is a plus for sure, but theres so many cool things you can do with the grandmother. I honestly love them both. Matriarch has a better mod section in my opinion and its stereo delay is just so cool and ethereal.
@@jayall00 The Grandmother is more a straight up Moogy monosynth, and the spring reverb is great for the overall price. The Matriarch is a lot more complicated, being it has a stereo filter so it can be unnecessarily more difficult to program standard synth patches - Grandmother is far more what you see if what you get, intuitive and instant imo.

You probably got the Moog Matriarch Dark edition in all black. The original edition has a multi-colored front panel like you see in the video. The good news is that the one you bought is now discontinued for priduction and is limited / will likely grow a bit more valuable with time!
With that moostach, you deserve that beautiful gift. Your wife must love you. All you need now is a SubH a DFAM and a Mother 32... ho yes and a Mavis. And your good to go.... sorry I'm a fanboy for Moog. 😏
