The ultimate Bond theme has got to be "A View To A Kill". The way John Taylor spoke about the arrangement on his "Stone Love Bass Odyssey" lockdown videos makes perfect cinematic sense.

I’ve always had an affection for Sheena Easton’s “For Your Eyes Only” bond theme (1981). My father took me to see the film when it was released in theaters when I was merely 13 years of age. At 13, her voice and that song melted my heart. Till this day it is my favorite of the Bond themes.

Oh please, oh please, oh please, Justin, record a version of Nobody Does It Better!!! It's perfect for your voice!!!

The best Bond theme is surely Macca's 'Live and Let Die'. Just epic and thrill-inducing on all levels.

I think Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name" comes closest to the central theme of what Bond is, and why. I also think it's amongst the most clever of the themes, in terms of the use of the central Bond motif, switching it into the chord structure as it does. Adele's "Skyfall" is also excellent. So moody and atmospheric. I actually am very fond of many of the Bond Themes. "The World Is Not Enough" by Garbage, "Nobody Does It Better," "Live and Let Die," "For Your Eyes Only," are all excellent.

I love James Bond movies & songs. They are all sooo great. To all the great composers thank you for your songs.

My favorite Bond tunes, in no particular order: Live and Let Die- McCartney & Wings Nobody does it better-Carly Simon View to a Kill- Duran Duran Living Daylights-AHA Skyfall-Adele Spectre-Radiohead (unused, but may have been the greatest if it had been included)

Carly Simon's "That's The Way I've Always Heard It Should Be" is still heart-wrenching.

Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name" takes it for me (even if the film is a bit disappointing). But chacun à son goût. Let's just enjoy the holiday season then ramp up for 2023. 😁

Duran Duran's 'A View To A Kill' is a banger!

When I was a little kid, we used to go skiing at Bretton Woods in New Hampshire, they used to have music playing up at the chairlift station at the top of the mountain. I remember standing up there getting ready to race slalom and hearing this song, looking out over Mount Washington and the Mount Washington Hotel with the snow falling. It was one of the most perfect combinations of song, scenery and situation that have ever synched up in my life.

Who else would like to see an episode of Justin's top 10 air drumming songs?! Love when he mentions the cymbals behind his head. 😂

Bloody hard to pick one fave Bond theme but this one is up there. Being old though votes go to "Diamonds are forever" "Goldfinger" "For your eyes only" "View to a kill" "Live and let die". Dang, they are all good!!

IMHO Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name" is the best James Bond theme song ever. The way the suspense builds throughout the song and Chris' incredible singing.

The World is Not Enough by Garbage must be the most criminally underrated bond song ever. Its amazing! Doesn't get the love it deserves.

My favourite one is View to a Kill - it's the music and singing, not so much the lethal meaning behind the lyrics which could be interpreted in another sense too. Although they could have done more to the music production as well. It's so 80s synth rock. My favourite songs by Carly Simon are Coming Around Again and of course You're So Vain.

The Living Daylights by a-ha is the darkest and most dramatic Bond theme

That was the hit of nostalgia that I needed. Brings me back to my childhood and my parents listening to this in the car.

My Uncle Robert had a crush on Carly Simon, too. I now realize he had a thing for female vocalists. I don't blame him. I have a thing for male vocalists. Giggles. Seriously anyone that was an Animals & Dave Clark Five fan like me...well, I'm trying to say he was a special uncle, actually my big brother & I miss him. May you rest in peace Uncle Robert. He looked like Scottish hero.

I didn't really get into The Darkness when I was growing up but I've been thoroughly enjoying your channel these past few months. Your mindset, ways with words and your understanding of music from all genre's has really made me gain alot of respect for you and its made me give The Darkness another chance from the perspective of an adult and I definitely preferred it to when I was younger and only wanted to listen to aggressive Metal music! 😆

Beautiful song! Never been a huge Bond fan, but I think some Bond themes speak for themselves and this has got to be one of, if not the best of them. That orchestral arrangement when it really kicks in is sublime. Love it when songs start simple and melodic then come in strong, seemingly out of nowhere and you get that rush of endorphins that make you want to jump up and dance, air-guitar/drum or sing at the top of your lungs! Hey Justin , you know that Em chord on the intro …we used to call it the neighbours chord , as they would do that chord ( or something similar ) at the end of the show when they dropped the cliff hanger ….somert like …toady …ya mums just died .. To this day when I see an older Esprit, it brings me back to the day when I was 8 years old. Then I saw Star Wars hahahaha. Loved the Bond melody mixed into your outro theme.

The chords in the ‘I wasn’t looking but somehow you found me’ are more interesting and involved than the Creep/Hollies chord progression. It’s E, E7 over G# (a gospel move - less stuffy than just a G# major chord). Then the next bar substitutes the A major to A minor with a G9 and F#9… it’s such incredibly clever writing.

Whenever I find myself noodling on the guitar I feel compelled to play this. What an absolute banger.

There was another episode, 5 months ago titled “Sad News for James Bond Fans” where Justin sang this song and SOOOO Beautifully. It was one of my Most Favorite episodes Ever! Carly Simon’s voice is so very pretty but your version of this song Justin, was the best version I have EVERRR heard.

Marvin Hamlisch was an outrageous talent, both as a songwriter/composer and as a pianist. There's a lot of great Bond songs, but this one is right up there as one of the best. The film was Moore's best as well.

Love the album too. Have it on original vinyl from back in the day. Awesome! Bond ‘77 kicks ass; up there with Barry’s instrumental for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Music was (is) so evocative back then.

Hamlisch was one helluva musician. Good to hear his name come up again. I share your opinion on this song. I love how it sets the scene, picks up pace then delivers the “baby your the best”. The contrary motion(?) vocals at the end are majestic.. A truly crafted song..then there’s Carly.

Uncle Robert...God I miss him. We were close. He had those big eyes like Joe Cocker. We were practically raised together. BAV

Nice. Actually just re-watched Skyfall a couple of days ago and I really enjoy that film's theme. That Adele... she's going places. I'd say all of the themes from Daniel Craig's run as Bond were pretty rad. They've just got a bit more swagger, drama, and muscle appropriate for a grittier take on the character, which I personally love. Carly's is fine on its own, but I don't know that it has much of the DNA of a Bond theme as say Live and Let Die had from the same era. Just has a bit more of a lounge tune feel for me, but in that way it does stand on its own. Does that work as a theme? Perhaps subjective, but it's just one man's humble take. Love the videos, man! Darkness forever!
