Wow Ian your music was a great wonderful suprise at the end of this reaction. Totally did not expect that! Not that I want to admit this esp on youtube but I'm very selective in the artist and music I like so my plan was to listen for a sec then x out, than I was intrigued bc of all the different sounds, well guess what I couldn't stop listening to both songs. You are so great it's cool how you mix the different styles together. I'm so going to have to have to go down an Ian Taylor rabbit hole! Thanks for sharing your music. One question why only dudes, boys and g's? Im guessing G's is your ladies. You got a great start with that alluring smile and sound maybe sometime G might get an addition? I mean you got Bros and dudes. Than G's come on where's the love for all the great ladies? Jk but also not! Great channel, great work! ❤ from ND
I don’t think he actually sang it at the funeral, but he did sing it for Joes Parents, and gave them a cheque from the money made from the sales of the song and album.
@@DJQUAZER he did sing Freckled Angels at Joe’s f……but not this updated version. This is called For Joe! Freckled Angels is the last third of this song. Either way, he is genius ☺
I never thought at 53 I'd cry along with the whole world, well at least the world luckly enough to discover Ren. Ren has REN-EWED my heart and soul, for in this weary world he's a beacon of hope!
As a suicide survivor and someone who still struggles with those thoughts, ren's music has became a staple for me. A reminder that I'm not alone and how tough it would be for the people around me. A permanent solution to a temporary problem, one I won't give in to
As Ren said in Hi Ren, "when I learned to soften, the dance got easier" I think of that every day, not always easy but it gives me something to focus on and to work with. I breathe deeply and let go on the exhale, I'm literally learning to soften No you're not alone and it makes me happy to read you're not giving in
Great reaction Ian! First part is the ending of Suicide. The middle portion was a brand new verse and the end was from his song Freckled Angels, the first song written about Joe over a decade ago. Was really beautiful to end the song that way. I’m sure when most people heard the piano being played in the tune of Freckled Angels at the end there it will have taken them right back to the time they heard that song and that’s what made the ending of this so special. I’ve seen comments of people saying the middle was from his track “dominoes.” The first line “another domino it falls” is a call back to the chorus of dominoes, but the rest of the verse is brand new.
He also ends the middle verse with "that's just how the story goes" which is also a callback to Dominoes. So it is bookended with references but the verse itself is all new.
@@SarahLev29 I think that's what tricked folk into thinking it was all from Dominoes! Such a clever way to demonstrate what he's said about Joe being part of all his music.
This song exemplifies the five stages of grief, and adds the 'acceptance' stage to "Suicide". This is why this ends uplifting as opposed to his last song. He ends the song with quoting "Freckled Angles", which he played at Joe's funeral. This song and everything surrounding it (like showing this video to Joe's mom and receiving a sobbing hug from her at the end), brings closure to everyone involved. Ren is currently the greatest artist alive and his artistry expands music and reaches realms that are usually reserved for the spiritual.
Ren is special. There never really seem to be enough or the right words to adequately describe him. Though he often inspire us to write beautiful things about him anyway and together maybe all those thoughtful comments about Ren get close. There is certainly no mistaking that this man has touched a lot of people’s hearts and the world needs him. The RENegades make the Ren rabbit hole such a wholesome place as we all try to follow and support the man in changing the world for the better ❤
I love seeing my city here. This is filmed on Scotsman’s Hill overlooking the Calgary Saddledome. I have watched fireworks from there many times. What a beautiful tribute to his friend ❤️🩹
Lovely genuine and introspective reaction. Ren's line about his wings missing feather, in my opinion is because he has been spreading them out to everyone in his life and all those who have crossed his path in their own journeys of creativity. He inspires and uplifts with his music and his messages. For this beautiful song and amazing tribute to Joe its a mash up of S, middle verse is new, ending with Freckled Angels which was written for Joe several months after he passed. The bottle on the keyboard/piano could also be Ren's way of showing Joe's light or energy is with him always. ❤ Much love and respect.
Hi Ian… always a great reaction.. thanks for sharing your song it’s very good! Stay strong too.. we all need to hold each other up in the darkest times..💜☮️💜
Love the characterization of Ren and his voice to be such a "conduit of emotion". "Utilize negative space" also a new, clarifying viewpoint for me as well. Thanks for your analysis and viewpoint.
Freckled Angel is one of his earlier songs and the name of one of his cd's. So this is kind of a mashup of pieces and thoughts from multiple releases with some new lyrics as well. Its exquisite truly.
In my opinion, this artist is criminally underrated. He puts on a master class in writing lyrics, and his delivery is really unique, and chops on guitar are insane. I highly recommend Benjamin Haycock . The first song I ever heard from him was Restlessness. I think it's a perfect starter song. Keep being awesome, brudah!
I loved Ren's tribute song for Joe RIP and I want to extend my sympathy to everyone who has lost someone dear to them! I feel this song has a healing vibe and is a stepping stone for Ren to turn another page in his life! It is sad but uplifting and im excited to see Ren's journey now that he's made peace with that part of his life! Love your reaction and your enthusiasm ❤
Ren's "heart on his sleeve" music is a much needed remedy for all of us in this time of confusion and chaos. I believe Ren is changing more lives than he knows. He is a special talented young man. ❤️ You are as well Ian. I listened to the 2 tracks at the end of the reaction. They have left me wanting to hear more. You too have a poetic soul. ❤
Man.... How do i get to minute 16 before even realising im that far in! Your take on everything he is doing from writing to production, to the emotions is just on point man! Many other reactions i have seen where its very surface level or fully about how it relates to them but you managed to go much further and have me hooked to what you are saying! This song was again pure art genius that that takes you on a journey. He could have left us with a sad song about his friend but turns it into this beacon of light that inspires hope . He said that in Hi Ren and he was not over-comitting when he did. I feel he very much could be the voice you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope. Big love Ren. Big love Ian and fellow fans!
Freckeld Angels was a album of his and the title of the first son he wrote about Joe. Love the reaction and what a beautiful song you made love it instant added to my play list.
Ren's come back to the Uk for a bit now, and visited his home in Wales, the island of Anglesey where he handed over a cheque to the Royal National Lifeboat Association as thanks for the work they did that fateful night. He visited with Joe's parents and played them this release and I think perhaps, he's healing now at last :)
I enjoy your reactions and breaking down both the music and lyrics through your musician eyes and ears. Your own music is beautiful, while being so personal and touching... Stay strong. Music can be great therapy
Massive hug for you #Ian, it needs to come with tissues this does. Nothing like #Ren for singing from the very depths of his soul, laying it all out there to bring comfort and hope to those who need it. This song shows perfectly the effect you leave, if anyone loves or cares for you, and you give up. Hang in there. Reach out. So many people would lift you up if knew you needed it.
Great reaction! I also absolutely love your songs on here. It makes so much sense why you appreciate Wren so much. I am a subscriber and look forward to listening to more of your music. Thanks!
I am so glad that you´re putting your songs at the end of your videos coz I´m that kind of lazy asshole who never checks any songs on my own unless my algorithm throws it at me. And I love your songs so much and I probably wouldn´t know your music If you wouldn´t promote yourself like that. Good job, keep putting yourself out there for ´´us lazy assholes´´ because you deserve to be known more!
Great reaction as always Ian. Truly believe Ren is the greatest artist to break genres and draw pure emotion across any generation. Loved your song too. Stay well. Peace.
Based on how complementary your music finished off this vid, if Ren were to make a movie-sized piece, I’d like to think you would write the credit-roll music for it.
Always love your insights & reactions to Rens stuff 🤍🪽 thank you for sharing your music too X I hope you get to collab with Ren one day, you seem to be on a similar vibe !
Thanks for your analysis of For Joe by Ren. It seems to me or my observation is that everything turns to peace. And Peace, Hope and Love never end. With your own tracks at the end I can see why other reactioners, give you so much kudos. Two wonderful songs I relate to sky's very much in my past. That's why I say many times, Keep dancing in the sunshine cuz you are the blessing of my sunset. Take care and know that you are loved. Peace out 🎉🎉🎉
For some context: Freckled angels was about nineth month after the accident first time singed live, on Joe's funeral too... Then Dominoes (between) and Last one is Suicide. He just got in time to past... Past gone, not forgotten. It's punch in the gut, that the most uplifting song was first, I guess that he needed just that, and not just himself. Family of Joe, friends, everyone. This is his way to process all this.
I have never cryed so much over music as I have over Ren´s. Starting with Hi Ren. And it´s ok. He taught the whole world that it is ok to show deep emotions. It´s also ok to have fun, as we did during your live streaming sunday. And I am NOT a hater 🤣🇩🇰. But I admit that rap is i little difficult to me. I love guitar, bas and drums. And don´t listen much to lyrics. And rap is mostly too fast for me to understand, since most rap is in english. I need the lyrics, or a Knox Hill to explain before I get the deeper meaning. Yesterday, after our almost 6 hours live-group-hug, I googled the lyrics to your record breaker. I also saw the video once more. And I find it´s an amazing piece of music, I am sorry I didn´t pay more attention to it during the live stream. You must have had a tough childhood, being in the middle of domestic violence as a kid, leave scars on your soul. You are a strong young man, and you can be proud of your self and what you are doing with your life. Feel loved by LE-NE 🥰🥰🥰😂. Lene61/🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰
Just want to let you know how much you are appreciated... you have depth, intelligence and compassion, alongside the creativity and humor... you are doing such a great job with these reactions :-) And Sky, excellent work
Great reaction. You and Ren had me crying. I can’t cope with men showing emotion (I always encourage it) but it makes me cry every single time it doesn’t matter who it is. But to see Ren show emotion and you broke me. And then your songs at the end were really good, I already follow you on IG but have just followed you on FB and Spotify too! Loved those two songs so will definitely check out more. 🖤🫶
It feels like a song about grief and acceptance and hope. I loved Oceans and Sailboat. I’m looking forwards to your new video, I hope you managed to find the perfect place to film it
Hi Ian. I just listened to your two songs. So damned good! I fell in love with Ren a couple months ago, but I have room for another love. I’m an old guy finding such amazing new music and artists. Great job, brother!
You are right- I think thats why this song exists- he wanted to end these songs about this topic with some positive elements - in this case, how it made him the strong person he is etc. And he didnt want to honor Joe ONLY with dark and depressing motiffs.
