i had the back button attachments on the ps4 controller and i was a little bummed when i couldn’t use them on the ps5 but this new controller is great i preordered it and it has so many worth it features especially the stick modules because essentially you can use this controller much much longer than others
Love the controller! The analog stick modules replacement feature makes a controller the best on the market. My only issue with the controller is it only having two paddles in the back, instead of four.
@@alanschroeder4286 To each their own. I personally use all 4 for FPS on the Elite Series 2 controller and all 6 extra buttons on my Razer Chroma v2. Once you get used to them you can't go back. My thumb literally never leaves the thumbstick with these setups.
Got my controller day before yesterday and I swear, this feels so nice with the paddles. All the UI features within the console is absolutely amazing. Playing Destiny and Call of Duty feels like a dream. Super easy to get used to! What an amazing purchase, well chuffed! Also super easy to setup as well.
@@BigNickTx it is extremely worth it. everyone keeps talking about the controller but nobody's talking about the software that's on the console that allows you to manipulate everything, and I mean everything which you can think of and what you can't think of. You now have complete control of your button layout. Input registration, disabling buttons, adapter trigger resistant positions & much much much.
Still analog at that price point & very poor battery life , will wait for a price drop or a different package option. Case & cord are not needed for an older gamer that plays from a recliner lol. Have PSVR2 on pre order for end of February, can’t wait to get my hands on that 👍.
This reviewer is not trustworthy. I’ve been burned before with something he recommended. Example see how he praised the sticks without even trying first when he said he didn’t like the Xbox ones. I won’t watch the whole thing but I assume he’s not going to mention battery. Of course not he gets free controller from Sony.
One of the best things is the customization this controller in PS5 system. The only controller that have that. Also the only that have analogs that you can replace easy.
It’s worth ima buy it. What really got me is those thumb stick modules. No more replacing a remote because the thumb sticks brake. People complaining about the battery is dum, plug it in recharge it and shut up
I'm so divided. I've been burned in the past with Xbox Elite controllers lack of quality control. And the price for the DS Edge is incredibly steep. But you can replace the sticks if they ever develop drift so it's life is extended a lot.
Never had a pro controller so the number of back buttons is no worry to me. Swapping stick modules grabs my attention to this controller. Adjusting the stick dead zones too. But I'll what until they come out with some more physical customization options. Sure they're in the works.
I was looking forward to your review. I got it yesterday and really enjoy it. Especially since my other three $80 ps5 controllers all have stick drift. The extra price up front is worth it to be able to use the software to adjust dead zone on the stick modules when they do get some drift, and if I do have to replace a stick it’ll only be $20. My only concerns at the moment are the battery life shoulder buttons. No easy way to replace those that I know of and both sides’ springs went on one of my regular ps5 controllers
@@leonprez231 what are you talking about? Steam recognizes it as a DS controller. You'll just have to wait for reWASD to get the software for programming the back buttons etc in a few weeks.
Would love a video on all the newest pro controllers with hair triggers i.e. Elite 2, Dual Sense Edge, Scuf Instinc Pro and Reflex Pro, Victrix Gambit and BGF, Hex Gaming Ultra X, etc if I missed any. A lot of controllers have trigger stoppers and not hair triggers so they don't count as a full trigger pull so maybe a guide on that would be nice too.
I know you rarely do unboxing, but it was quite enjoyable to watch, cheers man. Quick question, do you know if you'll have a squize at the PSVR2 next month? And if so are you excited for it? Thanks again you saucy rascal!
I pre-ordered the DualSense Edge back in November and received it yesterday morning. It is amazing. The trigger grips are simple but noticeably game-changing.
I got mine yesterday as well. Looks and feels great. The optional longer sticks make me feel like I don’t need my control freeks anymore. The dome shaped makes it feel larger than the oem sticks. I am looking forward to putting some time in with it this weekend.
@@BeHempy good thing I only ever use two back buttons, most of the time just the right one. I have the Scuf Reflex with 4 and haven't even touched the two on the inside. I have a PC controller with 4 buttons on the back and only use one or two. I don't play anything where I feel having 3 or 4 is necessary.
@@schizowallflower To each their own. I personally use all 4 for FPS on the Elite Series 2 controller and all 6 extra buttons on my Razer Chroma v2. Once you get used to them you can't go back. My thumb literally never leaves the thumbstick with these setups.
Didn't even go into the button customization on the PS5 which to me, is the coolest part. The switching between profiles and ability to change EVERY BUTTON is amazing.
Unfortunately the battery life isn’t even half of the stick controller. I get about 10 hrs on the stock with everything turned on and adaptive on strong. I’m getting 4hrs on the edge. Very disappointing. Sony said that it was a little less battery life not 6 hrs less that very miss leading. That’s less than half the battery life of the stock. I’m not going to compare it to my elite 2 because that wouldn’t be fair. I know the elite 2 gets about 40 hrs I have one but it has a lot less going on in the controller like 12 or more year old rumble and no adaptive triggers so of course it’s going to have more battery life. For $200 dollars a 4 hr battery life is inexcusable this is supposed to be a premium controller. Other than that I like the controller and it will be my daily driver o. The PS5.
I love this controller and I love that if there is stick drift all you have to do is buy replacements for the sticks instead of having to replace the controller.
Cant they make a unit that dont get stick drift so fast...I hope it s a better quality module . Regular ps5 controllers get stick drift fast. So instead of fixing now u can replace
I'm an Xbox guy so I've been using the Elite and Elite 2 controllers for the past few years. Crazy that the battery life on this is that bad on this I do love the modular joysticks because replacing them every few years would be amazing, literally that brand new feeling once you swap them out. Oh yeah, I've been curious to see how the adaptive triggers have been holding up for people going on 2 1/2 years of use.
I use both the Elite 2 and Ps5 standard controller, had since release and still using my PS5 original controllers up until today. Triggers and all vibrations still working fine. Got my duelsense edge today and it's definitely a premium product in the same ball park as the elite 2. Yes the battery is a bit disappointing but I usually play wired with 2 paddles anyway so in that respect it's on par with the elite 2.
@@erikalvarez4516 They have a patent out for a new Xbox controller with alcd screen on it... Kinda like what Dreamcast did, I can't wait. The patent is in my community post pics.
I thought u were going to be the first reviewer that let's gamers know if the paddles can be mapped on pc? Sadly not.. your review was the same as everybody else.. can u map the back buttons on pc?
Only 2 back buttons and worse battery life than the already appaling dualsense, is extremely dissapointing. The trigger stop zones also look like they have way too much give. Sony are taking L after L this generation. Oh how the roles have reversed since 2013....
what are you talking about, that’s why you can play while it’s plugged in. People will do anything to bash on Sony for features people have expected from a Pro Controller. Quit whining cause this controller gives everything that is called a pro controller. But no we gotta have people that will bash on the little things that can be solved so easily and then automatically it makes the controller an L😭💀
It's not good. It is 60 grams heavier. As if the original ps5 controller was not heavy enough. The only good things about it are the back buttons and the rounded out bottom of the controller because it was too hard for them to make a normal controller without rough edges on the original. And you can't even use a ps4 controller on ps5 games on the ps5. Don't know who is making these design decisions
Hey I noticed a black dot on your nail. Can you check if it’s blood or not? I don’t want to worry you but I know someone with nail melanoma & it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Shit thing is the remove thumbstick modules have the same shit joysticks inside then. I have a tear down video. I think gullikit is going to make the electromagnetic ones for it.
This thing is worth every single penny of the price it is the best "pro" controller that $ can buy right now. Scuf and battle beaver armt even close. I own all 3 and can confidently say the Sony controller is absolutely the best.
I love it its my only pro controller and I cant stop using it the features are just so great almost every game It feels more responsive especially fighting games its so worth it not to mention you can turn off the left analog stick which is nice for stick drift
Remember, it's the only pro controller with the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. It gives extra emersion, and is amazing to experience... So much so, that playing games that don't have them, you miss it instantly! Well thought out software aswell, it is an excellent piece of tech!
The removable joysticks should work like that on every pro controller going forward. I am tempted to get this but I don't think there's a way to get custom designs on it
I got over 5 1/2 hours last night, using all features. This was at full charge and I stopped playing, the controller didn't give me the low battery warning or power off. I quit, not the controller. So not sure where the 4 hour batter life is coming from
Since it’s early and you usually respond to comments, quick question, is the nova pro wireless worth it over the 7x for casual gaming and productivity due to the higher price tag
I would say yes if you have any inclination of using multiple devices seamlessly. I have my NPW hooked up to PC, Series X, PS5 and phone all at the same time and its awesome. Also being able to custom EQ on console with the dac is a game changer. Plus audio quality is better than the 7x (especially with EQ). If none of those features interest you just go with the 7x i guess...
3:15 - Plastic all day - obviously a PRO for this particular use (an analog stick.. ) An analog stick HAS TO be ULTRA LIGHT.. Heavy metal in this case is complete useless garbage.. Yes, it will resist wear better, but at the cost of usability. If a stick is heavy, then it WILL have REBOUND.. and that is the most annoying thing ever in an analog stick - this was the controller (Elite Series 2) where I've found out how bad "analog snapback" can be.. It was infuriatingly frustrating!. I've thought I'd get rid of this controller, yet I've kept it because of compatibility considerations.. :| 6:11 - Secondly.. Is any reviewer ever going to mention that the back paddles can be mounted two ways.. ??? (the mounting hinges are angled 45 degrees.. anybody.. ?.. No.. ???) so you can have "regular" Elite controller style back paddles or "Scuf DualShock 4" protruding from the bottom style.. ?? Or maybe nobody figured it out just yet.. 🙄😒?
Got my yesterday morning but I’m already packing it up to return. I have a PC, Xbox Series X and a PS5. I play 75% of my games, especially first person shooter games on PC. With that said, I am disappointed that this controller doesn’t have any native support for PC players. And why they wasted one or two buttons on the front for both to be Function buttons baffles me. They could’ve just made the assignable buttons to actually use. Besides from that being my main issue, here are some of the other reasons why it’s not worth $199.99 for me. And for the pricing range of $139.99 to $179.99, I think the Elite 2 offers more. Elite 2: • Removable charge dock out of the case • 4 back/paddle button options rather than 2 • Adjustable stick tension and magnetic adjustments • Swappable D-Pad for fighting games • Longer battery life • Native Xbox Accessories app and compatibility with PC Yes, the Elite 2 may have had issues for some but I’ve never had any issues. But with this DualSense Edge controller, I don’t see the value of it being $199.99. I think for what it offers, the sweet spot for pricing should have been $129.99-$149.99 max.
Love the ability to replace the sticks when they go bad, but is it worth the premium? Other downside too is the smaller battery due to new back buttons, its debatable. Personally i might buy one when my controller drifts again, having wasted so many controllers due to stick drift gets annoying, bumpers go bad too but stick drift is the most annoying issue. Hats off for sony for the idea.
Considering I’ve already spent over $210 over three controllers, with four total having stick drift (including the one that came with the ps5) I’d say it’s worth it for me. If you’re more relaxed and easy on the controller or don’t play often, I’d say probably not worth it. But the people who need this know who they are
I don’t understand why battery is An issue? This controller Is meant to be played in a pro scenario with a monitor. Even then it comes with a 9 foot braided usb cable with a module to lock the usb cable
Just take care of your controller you’ll never get drift. My controller lasts all generations. Keep it in a drawer when not in use. To anos dust getting inside the stock modules. Wash your hands every time you pick it up to play
man that’s horrible i had to go through that with a hyper x headset i believe they dropped it off at the wrong address and never saw them i really hate that when that happens companies really don’t care
@@Sowkrix that’s how it was with hyper x now it was through walmart and fedex though and both just kept saying it was the other companies fault i know playstion usually has better customer service so they might be able to figure something out
The Dualsense Edge is a really good controller but not for fast pace competitive shooters. It'll be ok if your just getting started with a pro controller. It's better for games like Doom type games and racing games. I own scuf, Hex, and Aim controllers there just way better. Hex is the absolute best in my opinion.
If anyone is looking for a good PC controller then get the 8BitDo controller for the Switch (the bluetooth/2.4Ghz version) Hall effect thumbsticks and costs a fraction of this. Comes with a charging cradle too.
Everyone slammed this controller before they could get their hands on it. Now is it the perfect pro controller…absolutely not. However I think it’s solid provided it’s Sony’s first ever pro controller. Glad I have a Sony option like I have with the Xbox in the Elite Series 2. I’ve been seeing variable hours on the battery life but like any controller that’s going to vary and based off the type of games you play. I don’t mind it since I hardly ever truly can get in game sessions of more than 4 hours or so. Do I wish it was similar in price point to the elite controller…YES but anybody that truly games understand that pro controllers are going to cost. Can’t wait to open mine tomorrow on my off day! I also have the Victrix pro BFG on the way and I think I’ll like both of these controllers for different reasons.
So I dont think its fair yo compare this to the elite 2 since its been out for what 3 years before the ds edge. Tbh sony dod some nice upgrades comparatively but with 3 years to study the game they should beat the elite 2. The elite 3 is gonna be more of a fair comparison
In red dead redemption 2 to trigger eagle eye you have to press two buttons at the same Time is it possible to map this to one of the back buttons on the edge ?
Anyone else going though growing pains with the controller? 😆 I'm really liking the build quality and responsiveness. But coz I'm so used the normal controller, I find it really weird the way I hold the edge.
Anything you want them too so you have it as a faster block or dodge button its great for fighting games and helps out in some games that require fast inputs or fast actions
