I have this amp in my party bus. Pushing 10 - 6.5’s and 2 -12’s. And it gets pushed to the absolute max. Runs wide open hours on hours at at time. Still running strong 2 years later.
Had issues with the VAD series Could not stop turn off pop. My alpine amp didn’t do it before in the same set up. Went buy a kicker and it went away. NVX was strong and always gave me power and sq I wanted just had turn off issues
Installed this amp a couple days ago, along with the NVX XSP 6.5 components and a couple Alpine coax that were already in the rear deck. 5th channel pushing the rest to a 12 inch sub in 2 ohm config. Sounds great so far. Nice and clear. Better than my previous pioneer 5 channel. The XSPs are nice but they're a bit big, especially the tweeter.
The angle screw's on the terminals make it to where the screw does not press down on the wire evenly. I have seen many issues where the wires don't fasten down properly.
I've been looking for the ideal 5 channel amp for my setup and i'm glad i found this video! Never heard of NVX but comments online are great so i'll give it a go. Thanks for the technical tests!
@@HifiVega Thanks for the code as well ! Just saved 22 bucks which in my local currency will let me eat for two days in a row. I'm very excited to see how this amp will perform with a 10" Infinity Kappa Sub and 6.5" Infinity Primus Components i'll be shopping in about a moment.
@HifiVega I ended up with an NDA501. I love the stealth looks of this amp, and it certainly can push the Kappa Sub and the Primus Components beyond their limits. I'm dealing with a slight ground loop issue but besides that, awesome amp!
Just installed this amp in my Can Am X3, its powering four Polk Audio 6.5's and a Skar VD 8" sub (very compact space, only had room for a single 8 under the passenger seat). So far it sounds fantastic and other than the obvious bass limitations of a single 8" subwoofer in a fairly small enclosure, I'm totally happy with it. Seems to make plenty of power cuz its EARSPLITTING loud, and the little sub flexes like crazy. So lets hope it lasts because it will get bumped/banged/vibrated/splashed/dirty on every outing.
Congrats James R!!! I'm jealous bro!! Great tvid as usual Rob. Seems like NVX, D4S, CT Sounds, Soundqubed are all doing what they claim and releasing some decent quality gear for pretty reasonable prices!
I am running the NVX VAD11005 on my boat and it has went the whole extreme hot Texas boating season so im impressed. My question is the NVX amps Clean power? Does your dyno tell you that information?
You can tell that with the DD-1, but honestly if I can’t hear the difference by ear (distortion wise) I don’t even bother and this one sounded just like every other 5 channel I’ve used recently as I stated in the video Kenwood, Alpine etc
Hey y’all! Im looking for a an amp that can perform in a HOT climate. Im in texas and fried the cheap Taramps amp in 1 day. What’s the best “clear” amp for under 500 ish? 4 channel, high level input, auto remote on …with maybe a fan in it. I don’t need too much power and care more about clarity.
I started out with 2 of the prior NVX JAD 900.5's. I ran one on the left and one on the right. The sub channels to 4 NVX 8'S. Bridged 2 channels to the 8's in my doors and channels 3 & 4 to the mids and tweeters. Back then i had a Dayton DSP 408 and it was a pretty damn good start to learn about DSP tuning and an active front stage. Those older ones you could turn off the on board crossovers, i am not sure you can do that with the newer ones. Great video buddy.
Recently bought an NVX VCW 15…well I should say tried to. It’s been two and half weeks and still don’t have it. Bought from NVX website. It’s been a terrible experience. I know it has nothing to do with you. I’m just venting.
NVX put out a good amp back in the day it was the XPLD3K they don't sell it any more, but it was a nice Amplifier wish it was still part of their lineup.
Question... If you have only a pair of RCAs but you want to used all 5 channels you can choose 2 channel input and still get output on all channels ? I hope you can answer my question, thank you
This amp does play great and is solid. But im still not a fan of digital amps for mids and highs. Class d is great for bass but for those with an ear tuned to class a/b for decades now, youll hear the difference when a class d is running the mids. Having said that, most people will not hear a difference and it's still a very good amp! The kenwood excelon 5 channel is a 4 channel a/b with a class d for 5th channel all on 1 chassis and is a small foorprint.
The result of the 2ohm subwoofer channel of 777 Watts output and 86amp is this the peak current draw from the battery? Do you record the voltage output and the amperage output to the subwoofer? I see videos with 12 and 14 gauge subwoofer wires, and want to understand the appropriate wire gauge for the subwoofer based on the output.
The 86 amp draw will be a draw on your total system. Alt, battery etc… There are ampacity and wattage charts you can search for online for speaker and power wire.
@@HifiVega NVX support states for the 5 channel Sub out. voltage output at 2 ohms will be 48.9 AC. The amperage will 12.26 amps and will require 14 AWG with a length of 6 feet.
I used a db55 all year before I switched it out for an Audio Legion AL1200.1 and an AL110.4. The db55 was an awesome amp. I had zero issues with it during the time I used it. NVX makes great amps too! I'm so happy to see all these companies really bringing it!
@@HifiVega really?! I can run the front doors and rear door speakers at 4 ohms and the rated power and the sub channel at 2 ohm power rating?! This would be perfect. Also the power rating your showing are rms power and the peak is double that amount?
Purchased this amp to replace my Rockford PM1000x5 that got water damaged by my fault. Got this unit because the stats and price looked right. For starts, the speakers terminals are cheap and the screw head is very soft and will easily get worn. The sound quality is far inferior to the PM1000x5, not sure if it is just the fact of being a class D, but there is a lack of mid bass on the speakers, has to fiddle with the EQ to get some adjustments, but nowhere near what I had with the RF. It is a budget buy, but I would much prefer the sound quality of the prior system on the same speakers.
@@HifiVega agree, have always been a RF fan, but have been a fan of your channel and Big D and wanted to try some of the new amps. Nothing wrong with this amp, just my hears prefer the RF, that is why for my new boat build I went all out RF and used the T-10004AD to run my mids and highs and a M5-1000x1 for the subs.
@@HifiVega i have two walmart gothic 12"s as subs.. and currently am using the rzr 2500.1 amp at a not rated 1 ohm.. not sure what it makes at 1 ohm.. but at 2 ohm uts about 700 watts... Subs are supposedly 2500 oeak 1200rms... Would it hurt to run both of these underpowered at 2 ohm on the nvx?
