Thank you Big D for the review of the cosmos audio 2000.5 I have been running mine in my truck almost 2 years and have been blown away by its power and clarity. It pushes my for Cosmo's eights and my mids and highs front-rear without a problem. Can't wait to see more videos on your channel.
Wow this is a massively impressive 5-channel. Actually has enough power on channel 5 to push some serious volume. And the fact that it has bandpass on the 1-4 channels built in so you can potentially avoid needing a DSP.
Yep I came across this video after seeing the company demo car with the 32" sub and full Cosmos Audio setup on it. I went to their site to check out their product line and I liked what I saw. There are a couple of interesting subs and I also immediately noticed the Bandpass ability being present when I was checking it the 100.4 and 200.4 four channel amps. Just wondering now if they are CEA2006/2031 compliant or if all their amps actually do rated or better. They don't see like a company that does the Boss/,Pyramid ratings.
@@jrockaz548 yep for less than 800 bucks I can get a well known quality brand 4 channel and a separate monoblock that makes around thay power. They are a new company, they should be starting out with amps and stuff under the $400 or even $300 price point and then let word of mouth advertising do it's job once they build a reputation and customer base, they can go into the bigger and more powerful amps and command steeper prices because they will have established trust that the person will be getting a quality product for their money.
This amp draws 360amps at its peak, you would need at least a secondary battery and preferably a high output alternator too. For someone trying to save space by using a 5 channel amp, it's requiring a lot more space overall. The amps footprint is way too big for the guts inside. I'd b concerned with longevity (especially with that whine at the end of the video), 1/0 gauge wire is bare minimum for such a power hungry amplifier. I'm not ripping on 5 channel amps (I have a JL 900.5), I'm just concerned about how long will all that power continue. I'd like to see a 2 year look back on how much power the amp still puts out (after 2 full years of full time usage). I've had my 900.5 installed for well over 4 years, and it still bumps hard. It's quality, built like a tank, small, and doesn't suck too much power which is great if going sleeper under the hood or in the cargo area.
@@JS-wc4xs this is a high quality product. It's warranty matches that of Jl Audio. And the components are just as impressive if not in my opinion better. But this is not a Cosmos vs JL. It's just Cosmos is what it is. A quality product 👌
I was just looking at these at a dealer in Virginia. Never seen this brand anywhere else. I will add that they make Cosmo branded wire too. It’s what I’m using to drive my setup. Pretty good stuff!
I enjoy watching your videos. I know a little about what goes in to the construction of these amps and that one may put down some power but at $800.00 don't expect it to last very long. Its way over priced. Keep up the great work.
Overpriced for an unknown company and looks super lack luster inside. I was like where's the beef? When he opened the back cover. I don't see no 800 bucks. Didn't even have high end caps etc that I noticed. Starting out like this with those prices I'd be surprised if the company lasts. Start off making less expensive price point stuff, build good quality stuff for the money and let work of mouth get around and then the company can venture into the 800 and 1000$ slots. I'd sooner give my 800 bucks to a much more well known company, even if I ended up with less power. Although for 800 I can buy a 4 channel and a monoblock and have about the same power and likely better quality and sound. Not many people be buying $3500 subs that cost $3200. Niche market for that kind of stuff and putting R and D money time and effort into those types of products when a company is in its relative infancy is how they end up not lasting long. Hope I'm wrong and they make it but I don't know many people that would drop 800 bucks on an unknown brand. 🤔
I’ve been using cosmos audio amps for years and it’s crazy to me how very few people seem to know of them or run their equipment. I have three vehicles and in two of them I run a cosmos audio 2 channel for my components and a cosmos audio mono for my sub and then in my other car I run a 5 channel but mine is much smaller than this one. Anytime someone asks me to recommend them an amplifier, I always suggest Cosmos Audio. I’ve yet to find one of their amps that doesn’t easily reach its RMS power and much more. I guess living only 20 minutes from a Cosmos Audio store has made me like them even more lol.
the sound is the transformer windings for the power supply section. some glue will fix it or mess with those leads coming off them till it quits. carefully
I've been buying all my Tom Brady n Tampa gear lately n just picked up my cab 22 now this year I'm gettin serious with my builds and I'm fixing to start supporting my favorite channels n buying their merch n Big D is at the top of the list!
I'm going to go out on a limb and say this quite honestly has got to be one of THE if not THE most powerful 5ch I've ever seen, especially at that price point.
Thats why my second time around I said %$/= it and bought the Rf t2500. Does over 2500 at 2ohm and over 3k at 1ohm, ya it costs a bunch buy was sick of second guessing my gear.....
Great video would love to see more 5 ch amp dyno and reviews , would love to see you do either the Rockville, Polk, jbl, or alpines . Big D is the man and always watching this channel ! 🔈🔉🔊
Someone needs to get Big D some royalty free bass music. The selection is getting a little old in all the recent videos. I do love how well produced your videos are though! Keep up the great content!
I only know of one amplifier that has the same exact output would be the DD audio 1500.5. I'm not too sure if this is identical to that but either way it's bad ass!
Big D Wiz call in Sam from Barevids. He gotta tell us why the amp guts aren't that impressive but delivers in performance. Synergy just you wait has a 5 channel to release.
You would think with the lack of components inside the price would be much lower as compared to the AudioControl, it also makes me wonder if there is all that need for the extra components if this amp can do the same job without using them.
Wow what a beast! Seems like it might be a Brazilian high voltage design considering the lack of guts eh?? A body will definitely need a couple batteries and caps to keep that thing going with that puny on board power supply. Thanks for the test big D!!
Cosmos is in my home town and I’ve had a system from them for about two years now and I love how much it surprises people. Like you said kind of an unknown brand but my one 12 would hit harder the 15’s and dual 12’s all the time there amps and speakers hit harder then my drunk step dad.
From my experience as an engineer, it's possible that the switching frequency from one of the switching systems are using frequencies or producing harmonics within the audible range of humans
With the noises, and bass knob, I think that's just a vision of what's to come down the road with this amp. If I was a company, I would thoroughly test this amp and all its accessories before I sent it to big d! Thats for sure!
All jokes aside, this is a really powerful and well built 5 channel amp. I'm not exactly a connoisseur of 5 channel amps, but this amp is really an impressive all around amp for 4 channel power while still powering your sub as well. If you're looking for an all around useful amp that can do it all, this is it!
Seems like they could have made a compact very powerful 5 channel amp with the wasted board space, but opted for the size factor. The would not appeal to someone trying to build a powerful system where space is at a premium.
It would overheat I think. An amp with this kind of current going through it is gonna pump some heat out. Bigger board makes more distance between heat sensitive components also makes for a bigger housing bigger heat sink.
The sound is the fan they make that noise when it has the ability to speed up on demand or temp of the amp. It will also make that noise some times when the fan bearings are going out. Unplug it and you will know for sure ✌️👌👍💯
Derek: Ya boi! Me: For $800 base price this thing better make it's rated power and then some. I bought an Orion HCCA SPLX 3k watt amp for the same price. This isn't exactly like buying a Maxxsonics amp...lmao Thanks for reviewing this amp BigD!
D, for a more real world test, when you test the 4 channels at 4 ohms, a most will run then at that but on the sub channel you should run it at either 2 ohm or its 1 ohm limit which is how most people will run it. Then we can see the real world output of those 4chs @ 4 ohms. I'm shocked at what's not inside it! My Audison LRx5.1k is roughly the same size and it is cram packed. We need to get either one of the Audison 5.1k amps for you to test. If I wasn't using mine I'd send it to you.
Something about this amp is giving me hesitation. Long before you opened it and it lost power with a higher load (Lower Ohm) I raised an eyebrow. This amp seems to be living on the edge with the power supply side. I've never had good luck or results with amps that nosedive with higher current demands. When you opened it up, my suspicion was confirmed. Big D I know you are trying to give this amp the benefit of the doubt and be fair as possible and I can appreciate that...but I think you know what I'm talking about here as well.
Nice! I love a good 5 channel amp and this one didn't disappoint. Have you ever tested one of the old school Memphis Belle 5 channel amps? I loved those amps but couldn't afford one back in the day.
Very nice amplifier to run your entire system off of, I'm impressed. Thank.god for those 0 awg inputs and props to them!! Wonder what Sam thinks about the design, very underwhelming imo. Great content Big D!
Other than the lack of guts inside, that was a damn good test! Great power all around! Price does seem high, but to be able to run the whole system, awesome! Now the question I have Big D, with you testing the audio control 5 channel, how do they compare? Great video!
Wow I was expecting way more guts but It done plus some so hey what's that say about them crowded amps that struggle to do rated ...... this was an amazing amp and vid
People are saying the amp is priced high but if you price the average Korean 2000watt amp and 4 channel amplifier you are gonna spend the same, but the difference here is you are getting better than most and this amo is in the class of the top 5, AND I REST MY CASE.
Yup I have had two different amps that were fine then suddenly started squeeking exactly like that; pooped out days later. There may be some serious quality issues here. No bueno at that price point
Coil whine w/ PC power supplies and GPUs is quite common. Doesn’t always mean it’s on its way out. I’ve gotten rid of multiple GPUs due to coil whine. I don’t find it acceptable.
I hear two different high-pitch squeaky tones plus the fan noise coming out of the amp. At 16:27 the lower pitched squeaky noise stops, but not the higher one. You won't notice it with all the power the amp is putting out.
Impressive numbers on the 5th channel, just wish it had better numbers on the 4 channel side. I like having at least a 1:2 power ratio on my mids/highs to subs. I guess I’m being picky, but if this amp could do at least 150x4 @ 4ohms then I might could overlook the high price tag.
After the squeaky (90's modem sound) there is a very high pitched whine around 16Khz+ that never goes away and it's not the fan. I can actually hear above that and slightly above 20K and it hurts sometimes. As a child back in the 80's I could not go into certain stores because they used machines that gave off that high pitched noise and it hurt to the point of making me nauseous. That ability never really went away.
Not bad for a 5in1 amp with just one power supply, also shows good speaker controll. How about testing the Filters on the Amp, using somthing like REW. Huge Coil Whine, better put some "Ethyl 2 cyanoacrylate" in there to fix that.
Rather damn impressive. Those commenting on not a lot of guts, sometimes less is more. I would wonder about dependability. As fore the squealing noise that's strange, also putting the fan on the bottom is very odd. As this blocks air flow in most normal installations.
Have u ever heard of a dabser amp I'm looking at a mono 1500watt but I can't find anything on the web and ur the only one who would know more than Google about it
Kind of amazing it made that much power when my 75x4 has four 10,000 microfarad caps and four 2200s on the input filters. That means all 3 of my amps making the same power have a dozen 10,000uF and 21 2200uF filters and seven coils! That amp really seems to be making the most out of what it has! Wonder what the THD is and if it really is 85 or better S/N?
I do agree it's decently impressive however the clip light not working makes me wonder of its even really functional or just there to look cool or possibly justify the high price.... imo it's too high for a relatively unknown brand, regardless of power output. For $800USD there's alot of amps I could buy that are much more well known. May not find a more well known 5 channel with a very powerful sub channel, however for that money I could easily buy a 4 channel and a monoblock to cover sub duty. Also, for $800 I would expect it to look a little beefier and more robust inside. It looks kinda cheap with the cover off, although I appreciate the fact it's a Korean board design.
I drive past this place everyday and even though it put the power down, I’ll stick with traditional brands I know and trust (JL, Rockford, Kicker). The cosmos stuff came out with pricing really low and then quickly shot up, to the point of this amp costing as much as audiocontrol or another brand that might be a bit less power but has the history to backup its quality. This looked like a $90 amp inside. Nothing to justify the price.
I guess you just cant beat a dedicated sub and mids/highs amp combo. Still sticking to the Rockford T600/4 and T1500/1 BDcp combo! The 600/4 is class A/B too. This looks like a great amp if you don’t want to deal with two installs, don’t have the room or don’t have the cash.
Kind of sounds like the switch mode supplies trying to charge up the caps and having inductor whine. Bit crazy long time to charge the caps, so IDK. Either way sounds like coil whine.
In the future if you can turn off the sub channel would you be so kind as to run the 4 channels with the sub channel off so we can see the difference in the outcome? I'd imagine it'll do the same as the 1k test but that's with the crossovers cutting off the sub channel n could produce more power w/o. Just a thought, not batching or whining one bit I for one am grateful for what you do homie, take care and stay healthy
Did very good with the numbers and very flexible but is it efficient or will it go into protect every 10 minutes? If not it's worth the money for someone who wants one Amp for a pickup truck application with plenty power or bump as you say....
pretty good video! I've been looking for an old school Jensen from the mid 90's that had a light on top that would flash with the bass beat. You able to find one and test it? I think it was around 250 watts. Thanks.
