I feel you, I just got mine a day before Thanksgiving. Been procrastinating in getting one. Til I got the case of the AK fever. As to weight wise I got an LWRC M6A2 piston AR. And yes it is heavy. So I have no complaints about my Zastava being on the heavy side.
Great video! Last 2 years I’ve had no issues with background check time. It’s literally has to be where you are. GA/AL longest I’ve waited is 15min. I feel in love with the AK on deployment to Iraq in 05 and now have 5. This is the BEST model I have! Magpul mags are definitely the best for the AK and once you get use to reloading magazines it gets easier. I don’t want to see a change to the magazine because it’s what makes a AK. Might as well get a 7.62AR. Great video
Yeah I've been working on rock and lock practice, this Zastava is my main home rifle since the pistol brace bullshit made me put my Daniel Defense away. And I scored a box of Zastava mags for 5 bucks a piece, I'm real happy with aside from the magpul

Owned mine for two years. I Run a primary arms 1-8 LPVO. After a long day of shooting that rail is not optimal for weight and balance. Pros for the rail is it dissipates heat well and does look cool. I changed out the rail for an SLR rifle works 13.5” ION rail for the M70 and switched out the zukhov stock for a Midwest industries alpha stock, it’s now a lighter and veery well balanced rifle.
Mine got FAB Defense furniture (shock absorber stock) the rail works well for the bipod I got so it's a good fit 👌 I can see how it would be a bit heavy for some folks tho
@vikingoutlaw9 you say correct! 🤔 I fully agree 👍 I made a video not long ago explaining why people should train with a heavier gun to develop those "shooting muscles" Most people also forget that a light gun carries better...but a heavy gun shoots better. IMO, heavier guns are better for civilian home defense 💪 you only need to carry it through the living room 🤣 Most people tho, want to build a 6 pound AR that they will never carry anywhere.
Just make sure your side mount is centered over bore, or get a Midwest industry mount, or AK mastermount. They both let you adjust your scope or red dot left or right over bore. That was the closest to a shortcoming as I could find with this rifle after thousands of rounds. As far as a dot goes. On the bottom end of price point you can go with Monstrum red dots for around 100 you even get shake awake features. I suggest the "RUCKUS" If you want hardcore without breaking the bank Meprolight makes a new red dot (with 3 different reticle options you can change) I have this on my HK match pistol and I think it will be my default red dot going forward 😉 fir under 300 it's also a fully closed emitter...other brands less established want 550 for the same thing.
I love that rifle! The last AK I had was a Chinese AK. Sold it for about $400. It was a polytech. I found out recently that they're selling used now for 3k-4k on the used market. Zastava is a true collectible eastern bloc AK.
Yeah some of the old ones are such an awesome value now. I'm a fan of the modern version tho, soooo nice to scope and laser the AK IMO.. and yes I'm very happy with Zastava...well over 1400 rounds and not even 1 malfunction yet!

Mine has a couple thousand rounds already. I've done sub-zero testing, corrosion testing...shes solid AF! Mine has never had a malfunction the entire time I've had this rifle. Welcome to the channel. It's good to have ya! I'll definitely have more Zastava vids up
She has been AMAZING for a few thousand rounds now..no malfunctions! I'll drop a video to show how this AK turned out. And yes you can suppressor an AK, I haven't got into all that yet. I have a suppressor on the way for my 308 rifle.. I doubt it will fit on my AK tho .. you know I'll check tho 😆 🤣 😂
Have you had a chance to check out PSA’s GF5 AK’s? One I saw has a up to date rail, CHF, MPI, HPT Chrome lined FN barrel and an ALG trigger. Appears to be a solid rifle, but it won’t have value as a collectible like the Zastava and other eastern bloc AK variants.
You are absolutely correct. They look like solid rifles, especially with the FN barrel. The Jakyl they make in 7.62x39 also looks solid. 👌 I would prioritize the FN barrel on any of the psa stuff. Just IMO
I bought the wood stock version 2yrs ago because this one wasn't available but I converted all the parts to this version it is heavy but it helps with recoil overall a badass looking ak47
We think alike! 🤔 I like how heavy this build is. No muzzle rize, and my sons like to shoot this AK out of all my guns the most. She also runs like a sewing machine
It's not a bad trigger, or I would look into a new one. I know they had an issue with Rise-A triggers Zastava uses a softer steel for longevity and vibration resistance, I've heard some trigger makers have issues with Zastava hardness tolerance 🤔
Have ran one in m92 for a while no problem yet mushrooming the tang yet but I am aware of it and will be watching. Polished gets rid of the grit and helps the alg destroyed my ddi Ak but it was not forged
I feel what you’re saying about the mlok and the pic rail and what not,,,but their is something truly special about an old birch wood laminate it just feels right,,,it gives me those Cold War nostalgia vibes…and btw the WBP Jack is just as good and probably my next firearm,,I have a M70 Zpap I love it.. it’s heavy duty man you feel Iike you can drag it through the gates of hell,, only thing that sucks they don’t come with a bayonet lug on the gas block.. but whatever…
I agree old school AKs are beautiful, I would probably hang a nice one on the wall. IMO tho, shock absorber stocks, and Mloc rails go a long way, and help people build a better performing rifle to modern standards. I had to go the functionality route with this AK...I got it to replace my braced AR for home defense when the whole brace fiasco was happening. This Zastava has over 3k rounds now...and has never had a malfunction
Ar mag well no . This is just a issue training and muscle memory but the zastava platform is nice but a wbp is just a little nicer every where but my my m92 and m85 are better for suppressor use so they are go too but that looks perfect for some one to throw a dot and light on it etc easily and you good to go . @@mobilegamersunite I just recently bought the battle worn Cerakote finished version and it’s amazing how it is a nature camo color. I have a photo of it standing by a tree and it has the same colors as the tree bark and the wood is the same color as the leaves. I live in a rural wooded area and it matches perfectly. I’m planning to put an RS Regulate Mlok lower handguard on it. Not sure with the stock yet, maybe a stock like on yours. It’s great these guns have so many options now where back in the 1980-90’s when I bought my first AK there were no options! Love your gun and I believe Zastava M70’s are the absolute best for the money!

And the shock absorber stock from FAB has been awesome 👌 I'm doing subzero testing on this AK now and it's doing great so far. I've been thinking about camouflage options as well. @TheKlamminator yeah this one got the upgrade furniture already, she earned it IMO. FAB shock-absorber stock 👍 and the fast deploy foregrip/bipod. Surprisingly a vitatu light & laser sight has been working well...even did good in subzero testing 👌

Define more stable plz. This rifle shoots amazing with the extra weight. I'm constantly told that this is the best shooting AK that people at my range get to sample. It's lighter than my 308 rifles anyway.
Sure. Stable as in more points of contact with the barrel. The extended zastava is perfectly serviceable, and please always use your preferences; I'm just saying the cam system for the ultimak handguard ensures a secure point of tension in the receiver slot, and the forward lugs have 4 screws, 2 directly over the barrel, and 2 over the barrel and into the handguard; whereas the zastava has no cam system into the receiver, and two screws clamping a tension shell over the barrel and 3 or 4 bits that rest directly on the barrel (with no attachment). And with a forward grip and mlok picatinny points, you're looking at 4-8oz heavier. I'm just an old army guy that soured on the M4 system in Iraq, and yes, the far forward grip is more stable in some shooting positions, but I'm also a guy that knows that an extra half pound on a 12 mile march is agony no matter how much you hit the gym. Enjoy the rifle, I love mine.

I have the same rifle the bore is .314 that’s 4 thousands over even euro specs. They also run a euro chamber there has been reports for the past 3 years of bad QC. Zastava will not back there product by the way so if you buy one private purchase don’t expect any help from Zastava. Also don’t put any aftermarket trigger in it because that will also void your warranty.
Yeah I've heard about the trigger, it's a metallurgy issue with the surface hardness of the materials. My rifle has a little lover 3000 rounds now and feels great...yeah the trigger could be better, but it's a great training rifle IMO. And mine has had zero malfunctions in the past 3000 or so rounds. At the end of the day I'm still happy AF with mine. The handrail Zastava made is awesome 👌
@@mobilegamersunite don’t get me wrong the rifle it’s self is very good looking imo. The rail mount isn’t worth a darn it’s cheap aluminum and when I put my Holosun 507 on it. It was WAY off of being able to zeroed. But If I didn’t like the design I wouldn’t have made the purchase. However the more I started getting involved in my rifle. The more I started noticing things off about it. My last straw was when I needed to do a chamber casting for powder coated lead. Gotta remember 7.62x39 runs at about 2400 2500 fps. That’s right in likely with powder coated lead and my decision to try lead was because I couldn’t get anything to group out of the gun. And I tryed all kinds of ammo none of it would group worth a darn. Now I’m left to finding a mold that casts a projectile .316 at the minimum because the common practice is to run .2 thousands over bore diameter. Idk I think Zastava has paid the right influencers to say that these rifles are good. But in all seriousness all Zastava is doing is getting paid on there reject rifles that were supposed to go to their military contracts.
@@Johnny-jr2lq I agree about the mount for sure, I think UTG makes them for Zastava for cheep. I'll be upgrading mine myself. Mine shoots good, tho and I've never ran into any r3al issue so far. And Zastava never paid me for anything
@@mobilegamersunite yes I Emailed them about it and they said I would be responsible for all costs to repair it. Because the rifle was a “used” firearm it’s not used it was a private purchase. I could understand if the rifle was completely ragged out or heck even if it was slightly ragged on. It’s not it 99% I personally know the original owner he was a older guy. He bought it on a impulse he actually had 2 of them I bought both of them but I traded one in for a Bergara HMR B14. And decided to keep the one with the tactical hand guard. But apparently my experience with them isn’t uncommon. People who have had their own issues have had the same issues with Zastava doing whatever they can to get out of doing any repairs or replacements. I might make my own video on my dealings with them. The whole situation was really bad but everyone keeps saying that there rifles are 100%. But that’s simply not the case

@somebb yeah I figured it dep3nds on the FFL. Everything is so strict now...I dont really blame them at this point. @mobilegamersunite I agree. A r rifles are the lowest i've ever seen. But AK rifles are the opposite now. I used to buy them for $400 all day, now the minimum is roughly $650.
@somebb yeah except full modern AK came down in price. OCCAMS was about 3400 to get what Zastava is selling for 1400 right now. But yes the average AK went up in price, everything with wood for sure I strongly agree.
I agree, ive watched plenty of AK vids and I agree this is the best $1000 AK. I can’t believe AKs cost this much, but then again Biden is president and inflation is nuts
This is what the AK could have been if Russia had NATO money. lol, it's also more accurate and faster follow-up shots. The Russians spent a fortune to figure out that adding another MAG as a foregrip made the AK more accurate in full auto. This modern rail let's you add weight with useful accessories instead of welding another MAG holder to the front of the AK. I'm very happy with this rifle to this day after 3000 rounds on it.

It's great! Blew away any AK expected balistics right out of the box. I'll do another review after 2k rounds or so....I only have about 500 rounds through her right now just to cook the bluing on the barrel. Also waiting on a couple accessories for the next video . I would buy this gun again tho in a heartbeat
