Having a Bluetooth device on your helmet totally changes what you think about riding, communicating with other riders, and 1000 other things. Sena recently put out their newest model, the 30k, which introduces mesh network technology to make communicating in large groups even better. After riding with it for a few weeks, here are my thoughts on the new Bluetooth device!

Thanks for taking the time check out our 30K Chase and make a great quality video as always. The 30K will fit on the 20S clamp, Chase is correct. Chase did a great job answering a lot. Some points in the comments: The 30K does have a more directional mic, however, so some may wish to use the new 30K clamp. The speakers are the same as the 20S. -The 30K allows you to connect 4 Bluetooth riders and a virtually unlimited numer of riders in the mesh intercom. The 30K can also bring Bluetooth users into the mesh. Mesh intercom will support audio multitasking. You can pair with 2 Bluetooth devices as well, such as a GPS and Phone. Much better voice commands, connect with one button in mesh, newer mic, stability, Bluetooth antenna, and Mesh antenna. Chase did a good job summarizing! Thanks, Chase -Alyssa

Sena did not revolutionize group chat with their meshwork. Scala Rider and it's packtalk has been doing it for well over a year. Scala has HAD dynamic mesh communication. Sena just Finally got on board. Not a bad product though!

I have the 20S, and haven't had any problems with it, connections or anything. I did upgrade the speakers, which made a huge difference.

TrigunVS I installed a pair of iASUS Xsound 3 speakers. They have a mini 3.5 mm jack but I soldered and wrapped them into the Sena harness to keep it cleaner.

lol, I know you are just kidding, but really, from experience, swearing in videos is not what gets them demonetised. I though it would a while ago but I still swear (can't help that at times:) and mine rarely get demonetised, when they do it's temporary. It's usually either the tags or description that cause issues, possibly the thumbnail too.

Have been using this for the past few months. For a single use (i.e. listen to music, nav, etc) its similar to 20s. In addition, I use sena for my motovlogging video (using the gopro adapter as well), same case happened. The sound is muter than 20s, i have to crank up the volume in my editing software. And, 30k tries harder to remove the unwanted noise, including the exhaust sound as well :( In the end, i keep switching back to 20s and 10s for my wife. Maybe if all of my 15 friends have 30k, I’ll switch back to 30k.

What this review doesn't do, it doesn't test the specifications of the unit. No distance test, no multiple headsets! We got taken by Sena and the 20s, it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to connect 3 other headsets to the 20s because of the "crackling" and "popcorn" sounds, the claimed distance on a wide open road lies too. Most of the people I know won't upgrade to the 30K because the 20s was never fixed, we don't have "group" intercom because all the noise Sena's make would drive us crazy. So grab your 30K and your buddy, a couple of 20's's link them then drive around, get out in the open with the two 30k's and give us an actual usable range. If you're going to review them, test them against their claims, we don't get free units, we have to pay for them!

!!!ATTENTION!!! Anyone looking to buy a Sena right now the 30K is currently $200 on Amazon (at the time of posting this in the USA) you can upgrade the firmware to Mesh 2.0, and Sena will be releasing the HD Speakers soon for $40. So for a total of $240 you can have the exact same quality as the Sena 50S. Mesh 2.0 and HD Speakers are all that has been upgraded on the Sena 50S.

I have the Sena 10c and have found that the speakers are crap. The audio quality from my Bluetooth iPod is woeful. Plus at 100 kph you can barely hear your music! Other than that. The unit works well with your phone and the video quality is pretty good!

with the 20s (and 30K) my wife says that she absolutely cannot tell I'm on the bike, even at interstate speed. I actually don't have the music turned all the way up now, compared to the 10s, where I had to crank the living crap out of it

My sena 10s has a headphone port. And I haven't played around a lot but as far as I know you can't output straight to a gopro because you can't hear your own voice unless you're connected with someone else

Is the audio quality better then the last iteration? Every now and then I encounter snowy audio when connected to the GP10 backpack. Have they made any improvements to that? How does the new app holds up? Excitement aside, I have so many questions.

Hey man. I have the 30K on mine and my wife's helmets. We've been riding with them for a few months. The Bluetooth connection seems a little more solid but the quality is not any better than the 20S. The mesh connection...I'm not sure if Chase and Bo were using Bluetooth or Mesh but I was pretty disappointed with our Mesh. It is easy to connect and stay connected, no doubt but the quality reminded me of a CB radio even in close proximity. I haven't tried it since but will again. So far, if I had known then what I do now, I'd have stuck with the 20S but if you ride in large groups, the connection process is much, much better.

ok so you cannot get the 30K mic to directly connect to a gopro. it will however still work with the GP10. the really cool thing is that the GP10 will record everyone connected in the mesh. same audio quality as before because the GP10 is based on the same internals as the 10 series sena units (SMH10, 10C, Prism.)

Even with one person using the 20s and 30k which I did. It's still pairs much faster with just one 30k syncing with a 20S in pairing mode vs two 20S/ 10S ect. Way way faster just I corperating just one 30k in the mix.

My buddy and I have the old sena10 and it never disconnects and works perfectly fine. We never have issues. The only thing is highway speeds it’s hard to hear each other. Do these newer models help with sound clarity? Better speakers Ect.

If you have a 30K, you can ONLY use Bluetooth to your phone if connected to other 30K's. If you connecting to other Senas that are 20 or 10 then it WILL NOT let you continue to listen to music off your phone. For that fact alone, Im passing. Either buying the 20S or Scala Rider

Chase it looks like the price is less than $100 difference so if I'm looking to get a Sena for the first time, and trying to get my fiancee into riding with me even getting her a bike one day, would you say I should just into the Sena 30k dual kit like the one you showed in the intro clip of this video?

Search "Scala Rider Packtalk" best bluetooth for motorcycles. Better than Sena and works better with a chain connection. Also can connect to other bluetooth devices that ain't the same brand. Auto 're connects if lose connection and if one person disconnects no one else will.

I want to like this...They still have not fixed audio multiplexing on bluetooth com (where the 20s does it), as far as I have read, and still not water proof, only resistant.

I found my mesh to be totally unusable. The sound and connection is so bad, you can't understand each other. Had to switch to Bluetooth. Trying to sort it out before I send them back. Should have got the packtalk.

30K Might be the best some time in the future. Present firmware 1.0.2 is not up to speed yet. Audio multitasking does not work during bluetooth intercom, only mesh mode. Mesh private mode does not work well enough to be usable- muffled audio, not even line of sight range. Power issue- yesterday mine ran out of battery in 2-1/2 hours after a full charge just listening to music- no mesh or bt intercom in use.

You know I keep looking at these Sena Comm units and others but I keep confusing myself on whether or not they need a phone to talk to each other or...if they're like walkie-talkies where they just connect to each other. So when I go to other countries (places outside the U.S.) to visit family I can just bring the units and keep my phone turned off so I don't use any data/minutes internationally.

Any Sena (20s, 20s EVO, and 30k) with audio multitasking technology will allow you to have an intercom conversation while listening to music or GPS.

Check out some of the affordable Chinese offerings on aliexpress. Lexin B4FM two channel or Fodsport T9s one channel (same design and factory). I have the Cardo Packtalk but my mate won't shell out the cash, so I got him a Fodsport V6 Interphone second hand and it works fine for our needs over about 500mtrs.

2DMNSERIOUS if you don’t have it. Don’t do it. I’ve had the 20s and 30K. Both are below average. I’m switching to cardo after doing some research. Nothing but rave reviews all over the place. Not to mention they’ve partnered with JBL. just ordered mine and can’t wait to try it out.

The 10S is waterproof, the 20S, Evo and 30k are only "resistant" - not that any of them would survive a real dive into the ocean or anything. If you're worried, put a small plastic baggie over it in the rain, held on with a single rubber band. Won't affect the functionality, rainproof, boom.
