I spent 60 days in India in 2022 and had great food. But this boat food by the private chef has been on the top of my list and was just delicious. I would go again on this tour just to taste the food again!

I have been on this boat. Kerala is superb. Jackfruits,cashew nuts, pineapples,fish, prawns, so many exotic food. The scenery is fantastic. The trip is enjoyed more if you are with friends. Singing laughing. Kerala is stunningly lovely. These type of boats only in Kerala

One specialty of this place is that the water level in the river is higher than the surrounding land, the water needs to be pumped out continuously for cultivation, Now mechanized pumps do it, in olden times this was done manually by a rotary wooden blades. the other place where they cultivate under sea level is Holland. if you see the videos of these places during cultivation, we can see paddy fields are below the water level and separated by wide mud bunds. in this video also if we observe carefully, we can see the other places are below sea level

15 years ago I went on a 24 hour kattuvellam, house boat ride. The experience was so overwhelming and the beauty so intense that I'll never forget it. We saw lots of birds, kingfishers were the prettiest, most colourful ones. But out breakfast got snatched by a bird next morning😁

We can’t expect a waiter in any restaurant in any country to sit with you and eat. I don’t think they think you are superior than them or any other person. Absolutely, no other country like India. We Indians should explore, understand and appreciate each culture and state in this beautiful country. I recently did a solo motorcycle trip from Mumbai to Kanyakumari and then to Mahabalipuram, all along the coast, and it was such a beautiful experience. Please don't purchase fish during travel on Boat House. They are cheating you. Price is very high. Fraud people. Listen everybody, the boat crew are getting commission from fish merchants for each business. Touristers from other states particularly from foreign countries are cheating by these fruad people.

It's not a "problem of this 3rd world country" and Its not because they feel they are lesser than you that they're not joining you for lunch... I don't think in a first world country the server or chef will sit with you and eat if you ask them to. It's just respect and space they're giving you as a customer. You can't keep insisting that they join you, their English is very little and it's hard for them to explain clearly why they can't. Your intentions are good nevertheless.

You visited only Alleppey in Kerala?... We have a lot of things to show you... I wish to take you around all places in Kerala for free, when you come back next time. I think no restrictions in the boat for the staff to have food with you, if they want they can eat with you... but may be the food may not be so good or they want to have some liquor or already had or they may be shy because they don't know how to speak with you in English well.. Normally they show respect towards guests. Kerala loves football than any states in India.

OMG this brings back memories. Spent one night on one of those boats in 2013. The food was incredible, I especially LOVED the pineapple dish. Super friendly people, Kerala is called God's own country. Sitting in the lounge area in the evening, this bat kept flying through, attracted by the fruits on the table. I think its because of the cast system Sir Davud that until now its existed that way of living in mostly part of India which is too bad.all human are the same we was born naked and die together but feel so bad with other Countries that they stuck in an old tradition which prohibits them to make progress in their life.

That fish is "Pearlspot" knwon as "Karimeen" in local malayalam language. Its special fish from backwaters of Kerala

Too special that now Kerala imports it from Andhra. Now if you give real river grown Karimeen to people they don’t like the taste as they are so used to the Andhra Karimeen 😂
