We bought a Pro Z 100 steering wheel Cub Cadet in 2018. It has been a great mower and we would buy another one without any hesitation. Outdoors with the Morgans recently did a video with the cub cadet zero turn steering wheel mower also. I would bet after the release of your video and their’s that more people will probably purchase this type of mower.

I own the Pro Z 970 (dual wheel for hills). It is a fantastic machine. The steering wheel was initially to accommodate my wife who does not like the traditional zero turn handles. I have come to love it as well. Absolutely fantastic machine at a crazy price but I wanted to buy a machine for the next 10 years and have the additional stability of the 4 back wheels. Good video.

I have the mini homeowner grade ZTS1 version. No fancy suspension on the front, in fact, the frame is so rigid i can lift a wheel over a foot in the air with no flex whatsoever. It has multiple grease zerks, mostly in the steering linkage bushings on the front. I got it for one specific reason: Hills. My property is on the side of a mountain, So I have a 200 plus foot long hill right down the middle that varies between 17 and 25 degrees. I can mow sideways along most of it. A regular Zero turn would just lawn dart down the hill, and a lawn tractor, or any tractor would flip over. That's where these mowers shine is on hills and in and amongst trees, They are a lot more precise than a regular zero turn cleaning up the woodlands that are my front lawn. With a heat index of 107 today, the grass can grow, though.

I have had a cub cadet 0 turn since 2015 and mine has greaseless blade pulley hubs I have not had one issue with them, I cut about 2.5 acres weekly in Wisconsin, It needed plugs, air filter and oil changes. I will buy another one when this one junks out.

I am happy with my toro zero turn “with a steering wheel”! I purchased it new on end of season clearance for $1700. About 1/10 th of the price of these. It is 5 years old and still going strong. :)

I mentioned in the video that you can get the same mower that I am showing in a residential model for $3000-$4000 I’m sure the Toro mower is good. It was a patent infringement and they were only able to sell them for a short period of time.

Hi Brock - I have this exact same mower. Had it for one season and put 50 hours on it. The best mower hands down I have ever had, and I have owned almost every type of mower you can imagine. This thing is a tank! If you see it in person, you will notice how thick the steel is everywhere on this machine. As you mentioned - no grease fittings! You explained the steering perfectly and it is precise. I load mine on a trailer with less than a 1/2-inch clearance on either side. People see me get ready to load and they say - you will never get that thing on that trailer without a fight, and with a standard ZT that would be correct, with this one it is never an issue, the steering is so precise. It is also very fun to drive, like a go-cart, and it will go as fast you want, I never use it with the pedal to the floor, even moving from one part of the property to the other - too fast. CUB has been around a long time, and they really hit a homerun with this machine - it's impressive in every way. You explained the complexity of this whole machine perfectly - good job and keep up the great work on the videos!!

I have a Ryobi electric zero turn with a joystick. I like that design because it allows me to just sit back and flick my wrist toncontrol everything. I have to put a little more effort into left turns than right turns because of my resting arm location. Electric is not for everyone but it works well for me to maintain a few acres near the house and I brush hog the rest. To answer the expected reply, I use tractor mowing strategy where I mow the perimeter and then keep that path shrinking the mowed area. Going clockwise to mulch grass more than once. I just like the nonstop mowing that I don't get with doing 180s.

You bought a SCAG, LOL, you obviously didn't have any issues with paying a bunch of $$$ for that so, no really the $15k for a zero turn with a 4 wheel steer capability is pretty reasonable. SCAG has some damn good stuff for sure, but they want ridiculous prices to go with them too. Even the old belt drive walk behinds are $6K+ anymore.

Now their all gone and using a brush Hog on my JD 970 or my T474 TYM Cab is impossible in many places, just too steep even with the loaded tires....so Ive been looking at bigger riding mowers. The top of the line Cub Cadet with the 4 tires on the back would due the job I think......but the price is very high... 27k I think....yikes....

The way that mower works is pretty cool. I have casually looked at them but not thoroughly. I think it is a similar concept as the Country Clipper with a joystick. If I remember right that mower uses cables/rods at the bottom of the joystick so when you move the joystick right it simultaneously slows down the right hydro while speeding up the left. If you move it dramatically it will reverse one hydro while speeding up the other in the forward direction. You can do this with cables-rods-brackets or electrically with servos-rods-cables-brackets. Either way it's pretty cool because it takes the impossible guess work out of how much to slow or reverse one hydro while speeding up the other at the same time. Cub Cadets version is really cool because everyone is familiar with a steering wheel as it really is the most simple thing to learn. The joystick has a little bit more of a learning curve.

My favorite thing about this mower is not the huge engine that comes on the premium model. It’s the steering system. You can get this steering system on a mower that cost $3000-$5000 which is still a lot of money but in the lawnmower world it’s pretty standard. When the companies have me demonstrate one, they usually have me show the biggest version of it, but that doesn’t mean I would necessarily buy the biggest one either

I just bought a john deere z760r 60 cut with bagger system and mowed today and tried to cat the grass taller and I just put new blades on this morning and it would not cut grass at 2.5 inches. It looked like complete $hit and and had to lower it back to 2in and re mow. I'm ready to trade it off. It made me so freaking mad. I want my old kubota mower back. I've got just under 25hrs on this thing. The deck on it seems to be lighter than my old kubota mower and bounces more. I had a cub ztr a long time ago and had a kawasaki engine 54 cut. Was a really good residential mower. That's what led me to only buy mowers with kawasaki engines was because of it. If anyone know how to improve the cut quality on this JD z760r 60 cut I'm all ears.

When going around a curve, a tree or maybe a flower bed, does the back wheel cut across? Or can you closely mow all the way around a tree without the back wheel hitting the tree? IMO to have true 4 wheel steering, the machine needs to articulate.

Interesting we mow 150 yards a week with two grasshopper 729bt with 52" decks. We put over 300 hours a year on each mower. We trade every three years. Also they offer a three year warranty. The steering wheel on this 0:35 just a gimmick that's going to break for a commercial guy. I quit watching when the mower bogged down mowing his yard. And he was side discharging to boot.

Nice mower, however all that steering mechanism looks like something else to break and wear out. I have pulled small (25 footers) fallen trees with my ZTR (61" Husqvarna commercial mower) BTW it's 22 years old..

The steering wheel allows it to hold a hill wonderfully. These things are a billygoat

I was ready to write a check, but no grease zerks (nipples) - nope, I am out. This shows the manufacturer wants to own maintenance rather than selling a good product to be maintained by the customer. I don't want the best mower because of patents, I just want a good mower that I can service and will still work long after I paid it off.
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 7 дней назад
Putting grease zerks on a low RPM part is a way to build it cheaper and put the liability on you to make a cheap part last Now you are investing your time and energy and you’re buying grease when they could just put a higher quality sealed bearing in

You wont even consider that a slope mower if you saw a ventrac with dual wheel kit. The thing is so wide and low you can almost mow a 45* angle.
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 4 дня назад
Yeah, Ventrac is probably about the only mower out there that handles the slope better than this, but I consider the intact to be more of a tractor than a mower

Would Brock, spend $ 15000 on this mower?
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 7 дней назад
I would spend my money on a cub cadet zero turn mower with the steering wheel I would probably get a smaller mower with this same design to save a little money. That part of it depends on your budget and where you are at in life. I mentioned that the Mower I showed is available from lower end homeowner zero turns up to the massive commercial zero turn mowers. I wasn’t so much focused on the exact model as I am the steering system I bought a used mower a few months ago for $5000. For around that price range, you could get one with this design.

My neighbor has had one for years now its not the monster you have there. I think its smaller than my troy bilt its cool to watch her spin it around.But im not paying almost as much for a mower as I gave for my house and 1 acre yard. Now if they sent me one to use like they did you I would definitely put it through its paces and see how long it would last,I say that because my troy bilt is my all in one brushhog mower.

At the end of the day Cub Cadet is still a MTD product. MTD is at the bottom of the food chain compared to all other brands
@leechburglights
@leechburglights 2 дня назад
My MTD riding mower has lasted for 25 years. Only blades, oil change, and maintenance. Not sure what you're talking about here? Also, just picked up a new Cub Cadet Ultima ZT1 50 inch. Good to know that if I keep up with it, that it will be the last mower I ever buy. Taking the old MTD rider down to the shop to use there.
@alanruechel2240
@alanruechel2240 День назад
@leechburglights 25 years ago cub cadet was an independent company making quality products that lasted generations. At some point they filed for bankruptcy and MTD bought them up . Hope the best with you and the mower, but unfortunately you bought an MTD product that has been using the cub cadet name and has cheapened the product considerably to make millions. MTD has bought many companies for the name and the end result products are all the same much lower quality than they once were

@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 7 дней назад
I think there are a lot of premium mowers and the differences between them is one percent and it’s what you prioritize. If you prioritize really tough hills, I don’t think anything will beat this machine short of a ventrac
@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c 7 дней назад
Nothing any different than pushing the accelerator in your car for hours on end.
@Dundertaker1
@Dundertaker1 7 дней назад
My neighbor has the same mower. The accelerator is nothing like a car, it's awkward and if you mow more than a small yard it is a total PIA. Its obviously a Preference…and my opinion...im sure some will love it. I prefer sticks to steer all day. I considered a Ventrac, but then I looked at the price. 👌😉😉 I mow 6+ acres of hills and rough yard. The suspension was also the deciding factor. #justoneviewersopinion

There is not a chance in the world that cub cadet makes the best mower in any price range or any configuration. They make consumer grade stuff.
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT 3 дня назад
What are you basing this on? Have you used commercial or prograde late model cub cadet zero turn. They re-engineered these from the ground up and build everything in house. Did you watch my explanation in the video? I think it’s a superior product. This thing is crazy good
@gkenn99

@RockhillfarmYT I have used a lot of cub cadet stuff. Their stuff doesn't compare to Ferris, Exmark, etc... have you tried a Ferris with independent suspension? No comparison.

The point of a zero turn is to mow around trees and other objects not to whip around at the end of the row.
