Do I give value to your reviews? I value it as much as I would from anyone else I don't know. (I don't mean that to sound hateful.) What I do is listen to your review, compare it to others and then see if it lines up with my needs. I get the most value from watching what products you use on a daily basis (the products show up regularly in your videos). If I see you using product xxx in multiple videos then I know you have found value for your needs. Fully realizing that not every product gets used everyday. I guess my point is that I use your reviews along with others to help me make an informed decision. I don't take any one review from anyone as gospel.

I have the 50 hour service on my 2515H happening tomorrow. I love this tractor. And like you brock, I am not an expert. Heck, this is my first tractor. But I looked and looked and talked to people for 6 months before making the purchase. And for my use case I could not justify the other brands. My back field is only 2 acres. But I didn't just want to mow it. Eventually I want to plant in it. So just a mower wouldn't do. I also have about 1.5 acres of lawn space. For that I got a Hustler Fasttrack. Is that over kill for my yard? Yes. But since "my" property is actually my mother in laws and I am just the one maintaining it, I wanted to make sure that the mower would outlast her and it would be the last one she ever had to buy. The reasons I made these purchases worked for my needs and my situation. Each person has to examine their own needs and find what works best for them. I did look at that Cub Cadet you are running. It looked like a fine machine. But for me there was one deal breaker. It is not fat man friendly. Keep on doing what you are doing. Love the content and even the debate!

And you make good content the majority of the time. Do I like all of it , NO. But that doesn't stop me from watching. But moral to the story is sometimes you me and the rest of the world should just listen and take the information for what it's worth.

Brock........... Just stay the way you are and say how it is and how you think.. Don't change a thing. In the old days pre 1960-70's electric motors had grease fittings since the beginning of electric motors............. Now they are sealed bearings and run for thousands of hrs go figure that.
@frederickburns1739
@frederickburns1739 2 месяца назад
Been around the AG world for a number of years and there has always been a debate about sealed/unsealed bearings!?!? There are three types hard seal ( metal shield) ,soft seal (plastic/abs shield) and no shield. I have used them all with various results depending on application. Depending on the type of grease gun used some are capable of 5,000PSI which in the case of metal shield will collapse the metal shield and cause premature failure of the bearing; ABS/plastic is more resilient/better tolerated and then non-sealed????? In industrial and agriculture the general rule is grease at the beginning and end of use and that is still in use today. Sealed bearings became popular out of cost factor; in the past most equipment had a assigned oiler whose job was to grease and oil the moving parts (morning/noon/evening)$$$ ,I believe that oiler position doesn't exist today! I have a thirty year old lawn tractor with a fifty inch deck with three spindles and have only replaced one of the spindles; the originals were non-greasable. I just retired that lawn tractor due to deck failure after thirty years. So if your new Cub Cadet can last half that long; then you can brag!!!

Brock, I actually weight your opinion a little heavier then most people on you tube. I have said it many times....you are a normal every day guy doing normal guy things and seem to be very honest. I have read tons of comments from people across several channels regarding lawn mowers. A lot of people aggressively defend what they purchased even to the point of overlooking, or dismissing, one or two things that need improvement on the model/make they purchased. With lawn mowers you have the added knowledge of having actually used many styles of mowers from many manufacturers. I researched mowers for about five years. I looked at Walker, John Deere, Cub Cadet, Scagg, Hustler, Gravely, Toro and many more. I ended up with a J.D. x730. Is it the absolute best mower in every single category? Hell no. I discovered there is no perfect mower. The x730 checked my must have list and a few of my nice to have things. I wanted one machine for lawn care and snow removal. I had to have easy deck removal/maintenance, option for a heated cab and simple change over from summer to winter without having to lay on the ground. I am 57 and my father is 74. I see him struggle with many things and am trying to avoid this as much as possible. The x730 has an auto connect drive over deck and all of the quick tach & click-n-go brackets can be put on from an upright position. To change to snow blowing you have to lie down to attach a drive shaft (easy) and that's it. It works for me and I love my selection. Other people will obviously have other terrain requirements, attachment requirements and personal must have's. I don't begrudge other people for buying something else that suits their needs and wants. Long winded I know but I for one value your opinion and place it in the useful box for information in my decision matrix. Have a great day.

Great videos of shoot from the hip. I had a 23 hp 54" cub cadet zero turn for 12 years. Replaced the spindle to the blades twice because the cast aluminum on one of the 4 ears broke off and the blade cut uneven. Not because of the sealed bearing ceasing. I gave the mower to family after purchasing Kubota diesel zero turn last year.

I value others opinions and hear in my head, "It's the best they have used" because I know it's pretty much impossible for any one person to try every single brand from around our big world. Not to mention technology is always advancing and it's only a matter of time before the next big thing comes along. Any persons opinion is one point of view only. My grandfather was responsible for working on and over seeing many different buildings and hotels up and down the east coast of US and Bahamas and he told me he always listened to every persons opinion that worked under him because no one person could possibly know everything....but in the end, it was up to him to make the final decision and make sure the job got done and done right. Keep being you Brock because in the end, it's your channel and you get the final say on what content comes out and you definitely have the right to your own opinions.

Are the zero turns like the one Brock has considered Commercial? To me it seems as though it might be, although my Cub Cadet XT1 42" 18HP Lawn tractor also had a 3 year unlimited hour warranty when I got it 6 years ago....never needed anything serviced, other than I changed the oil/filter once a year regardless of hours, and cleaned or changed the air filter as needed, swapped the OEM blades for Gator G5 blades, and had to replace the deck belt on it last year for the first time. My uncle is using it now as his Husqvarna broke down one too many times and he hauled it to the scrap yard LOL....that Cub Cadet seems like it'll be around for a while, compared to the Craftsman YT4000 I had previously that the engine grenaded itself at the beginning of its 7th mowing season, and honestly wasn't upset when it did that thing was a piece of crap from day 1, seemed like they over guessed on its horsepower rating, sure didn't act like a 24HP twin cylinder engine, that Cub Cadet has a 18HP single cylinder Kohler which seemed to have more power and torque than the 24HP twin on that Craftsman had....I guess Briggs and Stratton ain't what they used to be. I'm still trying to decide if I want another lawn tractor or a zero turn, I don't care to mow at 12+mph LOL, and I have a little garden trailer I used all the time with my lawn tractor, and have been told that a zero turn doesn't handle towing stuff very well, or at all. So I may go with another lawn tractor for next season.

Tell me why Brooke doesn’t know what he’s talking about, why are you more qualified, what in their opinion is the better mower? Them cub cadets are trash. A cub cadet commercial is roughly equal to other brands residential grade mowers. cub cadet residential mowers are scrap metal. MTD now owned by Stanley has been making poor quality machines for years under names like cub cadet ,yard machine Troy built ,John Deere in box stores . Go Get a scag ,a Ferris ,a Kubota, a bad boy anything other than A MTD cub cadet and you will be much happier. They have recently purchased excel industrys / hustler as well. That’s what MTD does buy a company for its name and reputation then run that company’s reputation into the ground.

You are super transparent, Brock. Someone who is new might not understand but those of us who have been here know you and trust you. We also know how much to trust you because we know what you do, what you've done. You aren't an expert but you have a lot more expertise than me on things and so I listen. I don't know why trucks don't have grease zercs anymore. I've wondered if it's because grease is bad or if people aren't going to grease them reliably. I know I'm not going to be good about greasing so I prefer sealed stuff. Also anyone who isn't an idiot understands that "best mower" is subjective. I know it's the best that you have tried for your needs. Anyone arguing with you is an idiot or they have tried something you haven't had for a different need and aren't arguing the same thing. For me the best mower is my Ryobi ZTR because I wanted electric, and it was the one that had the right tech at the moment I was willing to buy. And I will die on that hill based on the things I needed but not unrelated things. It won't mow all my acres in one go, but neither can I 😅 It won't cut the thickest stuff in one go. But all electric has a trade off.

There’s a lot I can say on the topic but I think I’ll add something others maybe won’t: Nearly every salesperson is a habitual liar. A lot aren’t intentionally untruthful and are pretty good to work with, but a surprising amount are intentional liars to make a sale. It happens a bit less with higher value items and items with specification sheets, but boy oh boy does it transcend industries and cultures. Out of 200+ sales people I have worked with in my life I would consider maybe one or two to be genuinely truthful. That’s on projects/purchases from $500k down to an aquarium fish. All of this sounds cynical but I assure you it isn’t a pissed off rant. I’ve worked corporate desk jobs and hands on jobs, seen it everywhere. Once you shift your methods to be that you always come into the situation knowing as much or more about the product then the sales person does, its night and day apparent how often they lie to make a sale.
@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c 3 месяца назад
When I bought my 2008 Toyota Tundra new, I was telling the salesman all the features, specs, etc. of the truck, I knew more about them than he did...why? I was researching the hell out of them before I bought one LOL....still didn't help, but at the time most didn't know about the future issues they'd have with bearings for a couple of years that caused front differential issues and rear axle bearing failures...both of which my truck suffered from, multiple times....course looking back now, that I know about those issues, I know which years to avoid, but at that time the trucks were in the 2nd year of production and too new to know those issues existed....so researching the best of something when its new isn't exactly going to tell you its the best for sure, but that zero turn with a steering wheel from what I've found came out about 7 years ago, so it isn't new either, so people that are running them probably could give some great feedback on issues they've had (whether it be from manufacturing defects, or from themselves), but we all know how that works in reality....its always the manufacturer's fault regardless of the problem.

They came into this commercial line of Equiptment recently and I truly think they make good stuff, I was actually telling a buddy he should get their 54” stander a couple weeks ago and we stopped by the dealer, the damn cub cadet was more expensive then a brand new Skag with the same Equiptment? Like come on, Skag is prolly the best cutting mower out there, I’m not a fan personally but even a complete blind idiot could mow a lawn on a skag with the velocity deck and make it look amazing, so to try and charge more than a brand new skag is just a joke if you ask me

Your a good guy putting out the effort to argue with the really double thick hard heads. But your correct. I love a sealed bearing. Grease does not stop a bearing from wearing out. A sealed bearing is going to wear out. It will get a better life though. I don't like grease zerts. I love a sealed bearing. Grease zerts are for pins and bushings, that also wear out. Give me a sealed bearing where ever possible. I'm impressed with your mower.

We live in a 10 second world today! What you say is your opinion, and I am glad for that. As an engineer, you don't make decisions based on one opinion. Listen to other people and distill what they say to what is pertinent to you and then make your decision! About your bearing question "what is best?' Bushings take large loads, but are inexpensive and require attention more frequently. Bearings not sealed will give better performance and require careful maintenance, but will not handle abuse. A sealed bearing will provide good performance if sized correctly, and requires no maintenance. So what is best? Depends on the user! Vote with your pocketbook! Thanks!
@wildbill23c
@wildbill23c 3 месяца назад
A lot of people never maintain their equipment, so bushings, sealed or not sealed bearings won't make any difference to them LOL. The Cub Cadet XT1 lawn tractor I had up until I gave it to my uncle as his lawn tractor broke down one too many times and got scrapped....has the bushings in the front wheels, and you can buy bearings and replace the bushings, which I was going to do when the bushings wore out, which probably is going to be soon, but in 6 years I haven't had a single issue with that lawn tractor, I change the oil/filter once a year regardless of hours, clean or replace the air filter as needed, changed the oil in the hydrostatic transaxle every couple years (yep it can be changed regardless what the owner's manual says...gotta read the actual Tuff Torque service manual instead), I replaced the OEM blades with Gator G5 blades, and replaced the mower deck belt last year for the first time. I also ran a 42" three stage snow blower on it a few times. Its mostly in how you take care of the equipment which most people don't, and they wonder why whatever they buy is junk.

With 40 + years in the Lawn Maintenance business. I replaced more greasable bearings back in the day than I ever replaced on sealed bearings. A salesman once pointed out that along with keeping the grease in...the seal keeps the dust & dirt out. I'm a believer.

Did your rep tell you cub cadet gives a veteran a 10% discount?? But they also give the national latino landscaping assoc gets a 20% discount. I now have exmark mowers. . When trying to boost sales is ok but not when a veteran is not as important as a certain group,

I own a cub a lot of the units built at the age my mower is that was before MTD bought the brand are out of service for one reason or other. Or it just seems that way. And i used to be a machinists The idea you can pump too much grease in is tottaly foolish Most your sealed bearings can be repacked just take the plastic dust cover off and put it back on. What causes a zert type bearing to fail, using a different type of lube in it they mix and one type can break down the other. So the guy who pumps s different type in can cause his new lube job to fail the part. Its better to clean out the old and use a new type, the cub dealers going to use the same thing but you'll use something tottaly different. Now i washed my deck one year after the season was over it sat off the tractor in the garage because i put the snow blower on for the winter, ill do this after fall clean up. Well the next spring i took the snow blower off put the mower deck back on and every sealed bearing was squealing all the pullies i thought i had trashed them. And you can't change the bearings You have to buy a new pullies parts wise that was over 100 bucks. Instead i took all of them off removed both dust caps and packed all of them with fresh grease full and worked them then did it one more time put the dust caps back on and put them back on the mower yes they made a tiny bit of noise for a few seconds but stopped that was 5 years ago and they are quite still. But what i noticed is most of the bearings never had much grease in them to start with not enough to repelling water anyway or they would not have rusted to start with. The bearings should be full and not just a dab of lube. The idea its too full is when you pump the dust cap off you put in so much. Spindles you can pump all day and not fill one it won't even make it to the bearings take one apart you'll see. Thats almost any brand. Would you put dry bearings on your cars wheels? No you pack them with fresh lube after you clean out the old because it gets hard over time.

A big concern on the bearings, I'd ask the rep for pictures of the bearings and grading of then. The mower looks great on your review, every person has ideas, those with little knowledge its rougher on them. Continue on your reviews we all learn together

If grease can get out of a bearing dirt can get in,do not wipe the grease it will act as a seal.never wipe old grease you’ll push dirt into the bearing. I have over fifty years industrial experience believe what you want. I have a thirty year old truck with 400,000 miles on it and the original sealed ball joints were replaced this year .

I would much rather have a good Japanese sealed bearing. Than a cheap greaseable bearing. When they go bad just replace them. Easy easy easy.

Also at manufacturer's what if one puts a sealed bearing into a place where the bearings need greased but the bearings has the seales on them and not a open bearing where it can be greased, next whats the sealed bearing greased with from the makers of bearings used. I prefer a carburetor over efi because of mantinance control on my part.

I have no problem with you saying you are impressed with a particular mower. However, that does not make it the best. It may be the best in some areas but to say just say” it’s the best” is over the top.

I've been thinking about this review all day, well the one before this. I think the front wheels pulling, and a true zero turn is really something else. I mow about 10 acres a week, semi-commercially. I have a gravely, and used to have a scag. If either one of those made a mower with the features of the Cub you have, I'd sell my current one and buy it. I do a lot of hill work, and obstacle avoidance, those features would be phenomenal. What works for someone, doesn't work for everyone, and lawn mower bro's are worse than truck guys with chevy/ford/gmc. That said, I wouldn't buy a cub, because no one deals them around me, outside of HD and I want a service guy who knows everything and has all the parts on hand.

Well, Club Cadet may be a good mower but it certainly isn't the end all. No mower is the answer for every one simply because we all have different needs from residential, to rural. For me, I only run diesel powered ZTs. Have you noticed, most of the out door themed channels are up-talking Club Cadet, wonder why :)
