After sharing what the garden looks like, I also wanted to give you a quick tour of the farmhouse that we bought. This tour shows you the highlights of the house with the kitchen, dining room, entry, bedrooms and bathrooms.

Originally from the Netherlands, I moved to China in 2010, where I lived until the summer of 2024. Most of my time in China was spend in Beijing, the capital. Since July 2024, I am living in central Portugal with my husband and our two cats, Sporty & Ethel.

In the kitchen, that's not an ice box , it's a salt box. Everybody had some sort of salt box at home to preserve meat back in the day. Cheers.

Really? Didn't know that. We had someone tell us it was an ice box. There are little faucets at the ends, how would those be used?

@@GoYvon if it is indeed an ice box the faucets do make sense. It's very unusual to have an ice box, but the house was clearly built by a family with above average income for sure.

Haha, dat zou mijn vader ook gezegd hebben! Yes, two channel. 😀 This one will focus on gardening / plants and the day to day kinda stuff. Roots & Restorations will only be about the projects in the house and some of the homesteadnig.

That's how we feel; a lot of work, but we see the potential. I'd love to keep some of the lights, I especially like the orange one in the hallway. It gives such a '70 vibe!

Sim, that's what we're thinking. Although it did have a bed in it when we arrived. We'll probably change it to the living room again.

it was originally built before 1951 for sure...so it won´t need habitational license...less bureaucracy...

True, it's over a 100 years old. All the buildings have a habitation license though, which is a good thing.

Hi! From what I've heard it isn't easy to find work here. Most jobs require you to speak Portugese. As for migrating here, it depends on where you are from.
