Somewhat of an obscure choice, but the riff that starts at 8:05 in Opeth's Deliverance is one of the heaviest moments because of the transition from the very quiet piano & vocal section into this absolutely massive doomy riff. I just wanna throw in a deep cut for fun; In Flames did a song with Drum and Bass band Pendulum called Self vs Self that goes absurdly hard. If you're looking for that angry energy it is pretty much guaranteed to make you want to run through a brick wall. There's just so much power and drive, the song is relentlessly heavy. A couple of honorable mentions that I think deserve some love as well: Puritania from Dimmu Borgir, and Manniska O'avskyvarda Manniska from Shining.

Into The Void by Black Sabbath, specifically the live version in Birmingham off The End album. It feels large and dense, or dare i say HEAVY. And as far as Alice In Chains heavy riffage, I'd have to say A Looking In View is absolutely massive.

It’s hard for me to really choose a song I think is the heaviest; my faves so far lately have been Heads Will Hang - Fit For an Autopsy or the chug in Hammer Smashed Face- Cannibal Corpse ( really any cannibal corpse) or the end of Davidian- Machine Head. And Happy Birthday Tyler! Really love the vids, I’ve learned a lot and when I get into a rut, watching your vids really help motivate me and I will recommend Guitar Super System to anyone who wants to learn guitar :)

If you only know them from their self-titled album onward (Basically when they started gaining traction internationally), you might be more familiar with their power pop and dance-rock fusion, but if you go a little further back in Finger Eleven's discograpy, you get to gear their post-grunge nu-metal roots. My submission is Drag You Down, from their album Grayest of Blue Skies.

@itsalwayssomething7490
@itsalwayssomething7490 Год назад
Yes. It's the first riff I thought of, because I remember Jason talking about this being the heaviest riff. It's the dynamic in the song. Sad But True starts at a level of heaviness and stays there for the whole song. So, while it starts really heavy, your brain gets used to it, it becomes less heavy as the melody in the song takes over. The Thing that should not be starts off very subtle and by the time it gets heavy, its so heavy. And because it dynamically gets quieter throughout the song, when the heavy riff comes back, it's just as heavy as the first time. That, and the riff is more off kilter than Sad But True. It has a dissonance and sounds dark, and filled with despair. Yes, Sad But True is more of a crowd fist pumping song, The Thing That Should Not Be is just heavier.

Honourable mentions to Ace Of Spades, My Name Is Mud and (maybe controversial) Polly.
