Also Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas/whatever you do around this time of the year :)
I didn't have anything really planned for a Christmas special since I was trying to do a bunch of other stuff in the mean time so I hope this will be ok!
First Android Flip Phone to be featured on the channel. Originally found at ewaste - I'd never heard of the brand "KISA" before. So here we are taking a look at this and while this is meant for the Elderly etc...let's push this thing to be like a normal Android device and see if it's usable!
I do feature some other Flip Phones running Android at the start of the video so if you want me to take a look at them feel free to let me know.
Anyways, grab a snack and a cool drink and please sit back as I unflip the world of the Kisa Flip 3 and see if it can flip my world upside down. Did that make sense. Probably not. I barely make sense 94% of the time.

*There's a LOT I have found thanks to some folks. This is running Oreo 100%. It also has Root Access which that's how I was able to dump the system files. There are actually wallpapers on the phone. It's actually a rebrand of a phone called the TTFone Titan TT950...yeah TT which in turn is made by a company called GWIN. It also has KaiOS like remnants on it. marshmallow land and desert case (the android kitkat easter egg, the one with all of the stuff like chocolates and candys) are even on android 12, 11,10,8,7. the reason why the ore easter egg might not open is probably because when they made the phone they probably screwed it up somehow

I had one, it's not that good for daily drive, mostly because current Android has poor support of keypad.

I would love to see Android flip phones reviewed on this channel. As a person who loves the aesthetic of modern Japanese flip phones I've always wanted a decent non $500 alternative to customize and use as like an mp3 player or even just as a side phone to take the pressure off my daily driver. Importing the ones from Japan that are in good shape and work is prohibitively expensive and they often have no English option in the software lol

7:35 I want to say that's a "HEARING ASSIST" button that works with some hearing aids, so might only work in phone mode. Edit: I mean it speaks directly to some hearing aids like via a private bt like network. So if the person can't hear it through the earpiece you press that and boom, beamed right to the hearing aid, not ear piece speaker.

17:30 ... in my experience yes, elderly people seem to have taken to WhatsApp as they can see/send pics to friends and relatives without paying extra for MMS messages which were a costly extra.

I use CPU System Info to find the "real" specs of the "import" phones, it seems to be the most accurate app and I've tried the same ones you use, but they have false readings as well, so I would suggest using CPU System Info and see what Android version that gives you. Thanks, you inspired me to do these videos for U.S. market and I have 2 phones coming in from Ali Express hopefully in the next couple of weeks. In the US 3G is shut down, so most of these don't work.

I have been here for quite a while. I think I was here around 50k subs, but I am not really sure. Keep ip the good work. If you go in depth with each one, it would take more than 2000 hours in total. If you maybe say 10 minutes for each, that would be 200 hours in total. I am not sure if Smorrez is going for in depth or just very brief. I guess we will have to wait and see. Stay safe out there!

This reminds me of a flip phone called the Coolpad Snap that has slightly less specs, no touch screen, and less functionality. I used this phone for about a year before I got a real phone. I actually managed to recently install a separate launcher and get some apps to run (stuff like firefox doesn't seem to want to install)

You should check the Sharp line of flip phones only released in Japan, those were actually in-sa-ne like the sharp SH906i. I was shocked learning about those phones. Other good lines are from Fujitsu and Panasonic.

you know for an old person is not that bad, some welcome devices were way worse than this. my cousin did almost the same thing with an old huawei put up a custom launcher and yeah my grandma can now use whatsapp lol! i will give it 7/10 since it has the good ol' 6580 (and this will remain in our hearts forever), and it works fine for what it is. (and i would like to see more flip phones as well)

You could try to make her more familiar with the harness over time. Put it on for 5 Minutes, then 10, then 15, and further. Would be an option if you think it will be worth for her and it doesn't hurt her. Cats can adept and learn, just takes a bit longer. My cat learned to give me a high five on command and to go for a walk with me in the night.

Over the Marshmallow thing, I believe it's bundled in from Android 6 to 11, I don't seem to be able to get the shortcut running on 12, so that isn't a sign that the phones running Android 6.

I noticed the gear icon in the notification pull-down, does that only open up the settings or does that give you the ability to modify the pull-down menu? I know in other Android phones, that gear does open the settings.

There's something weirdly exciting about being able to play GTA 3 on something like this, even if it may run a bit on the iffy side or awkward as hell to control, it's funny and cool and I'd love if 20 years from now we'll be able to play GTA 5 on a flip phone (if manufacturers will still make retro styled phone's in the future but with upgraded specs. It's also kinda cool how the game supports physical buttons on a phone like this to play the game. Sure, it looks more awkward to control than the screen itself but still cool that it does it nonetheless. 79hz display too that's actually amusing to me that a phone like this has a faster than standard refresh rate. Doesn't seem like a bad device at all honesty. It's not my thing but I'd still consider getting something like this in the future just as a novelty or to play around with just to see what kind of emulators and other niche uses I could get out of them. I reckon typing feels off because it's (by default at least) in T9 mode - so you press once on every key pertaining to the word you are trying to type in, and the phone suggests a bunch of words that fit those keys. For "hello", you'd press 4 3 5 5 6 and you should see "hello" on screen. En mode is the multitap mode most people are used to.

In the outro caption you wrote that you wish they made flagship grade Android flip phones. In China Samsung sells something they call the Galaxy W, which is exactly what you're looking for. It's basically your Galaxy Folder but with AMOLEDs and an 8 something Snapdragon depending on year. Speaking of year; I don't know if they still make them. I think 2019 was the last year; but, maybe not.

I wonder if that would work.... 17:30 yep they use it, sometimes too much(especially when they find filters and emojis on camera... and need to send images to EVERYONE) 22:30 I had that problem and I did what cats do: repeat that until it owner get used to it. In this case after week of randomly putting collar on my cat without any reason I managed to make her get used to it and after few more days I managed to take her out to garden 28:10 Recently I bought Samsung A52s 5G for my mother for around 320Euro.... So yeah.... Not to mention that there are free/cheap launchers with big buttons and nice customization/easy shortcuts for features and you dont need to send data to author to make them visible... you just select contacts to display... 41:50 hell yeah! :D

GTA III - I wonder if the keypad would have been more usable as a controller if the keypad was in your left hand, assuming the phone flipped the screen so that it wasn't upside down of course.

So, Im one of those flip phone guys- I have to have a phone that fits in my pocket and just does phone things- I have a laptop for laptop things. That being said, my favorite phones of all time were the Casio GZone phones- If the network would let me, i would still be using a GZone (you can't activate 3G phones in the states anymore). But now I am stuck using a Kyocera Dura XV which is one you might want to cover some day. Despite having a few more multimedia options and the ability to do your own ringtones without paying for them, the quality is defiantly not as good as the Casio phones.

so you can't do terribly much with that Telstra phone because it doesn't have wifi, but have you considered Bluetooth networks? you can enable bluetooth modem on any Android phone since like 2012 and connect to it with another Android phone, and your network will be shared

Phone archive: Samsung rugby sgh-a837. I was absolutely abusive to that phone and took 5-6yrs to kill it. And I bought a second before I bought my 1st smart phone. I still have it as a backup for my Samsung note 9.

Please do a review to galaxy foldable 2. Also do you know if it has android 7.1.1. everywhere it sais it has 6.0 but some sources said that it should have 7.1.1. after an software update also, the model counts. I would be interested in G1650. Please someone help me.
