I had the opportunity to work and live in so many African countries, but my experience in Sudan was so far different especially as you said how is the media giving negative image about Sudan which i discovered later on it was totally not true. Sudan is one of the safest African countries i lived in, Sudanese people are very smart educated even with less limited resources of education but still people there are full of ambitions to achieve and peruse them dreams , i never met so friendly people and kind as Sudanese in my life who always wanna help you with zero expectation in return and especially if you are foreigner, its so amazing to learn so many good things in last place you will ever think you will but that what happened and am glad i did.. Thank you for the great video about Sudan... please pardon me if my english not perfect..All the love From France

Apparently, most North Sudanese have no idea about Sudan ( in terms of its vastness, diversity and rich history). And no wonder most of them couldn't get it when we (South) opposed the definition of Sudan as "Islamic and Arabic" (coz... there are obviously billions of parameters to measure Sudan - not just Arabism and Islam). I'm from South... never been to North but I can almost tell you everything you need to know about whatever part of Sudan. I'm a typical Dinka...Tall, slim and Sudani dark but I still do find myself having to proof to some North Sudanese that I'm not Ugandan or Kenyan and have no relationship whatsoever with them. Dinka is indigenous and Endemic to Sudan...you can't find us elsewhere!
@abiribrahim
@abiribrahim 5 лет назад
Manelson 211 I agree with your comment. I would even go as far as to say it’s not just north sudanese but most east Africans have very little knowledge about their neighboring countries. I have lived and traveled to nearly all EA countries and I was amazed by how little others know about Sudan and I constantly have to prove that I am not Ethiopian or Zanzibari or Indian or whatever. This identity is further convoluted among Africans living in the diaspora. We as Sudanese (North & South) must do better to promote our diverse, rich and unique cultures and traditions to educate and eliminate misconceptions. 🌹
@manelson2118
@manelson2118 5 лет назад
ABIR ... Haha. You are right about that ( The fact that the rest of East Africa is ignorant about Sudan). A regular Kenyan or Ugandan don't know about a typical North Sudanese. To them, a Sudanese is defined by a tall and dark looking person (someone looking like me basically- which is gross really) because that's what they see in their neighborhood every time. This is partly because North Sudanese don't integrate with the rest of East Africa and vice versa. And btw, there are some parts of Sudan where u will have to convince them that you are actually Sudaniya... haha ... Anyways.... I love how this new generation Sudanese musicians and RU-vidrs like you, are creating awareness about the unexplored Diversity of Sudan. If you watch Late Dr. John Garang speeches, you'll start to understand and see Sudan in a different perspective. You'll relate to most of the issues and concerns that he used to raise. Lastly, there's a myth that we hate North. This is not true...but we obviously don't like all the successive regimes since 1956. We opted for "Two Sudans" bcoz the conditions for "New Sudan" were rejected (by the regime- not the citizens)...and not because we hate Northerners. Trust me, if you come down to Juba you won't feel any different...the culture, food and general attitude is relatively the same. The only difference is that our Arabic is slightly unique 😂😂😂😂....and maybe you'll need a visa for the sake of formalities at the immigration....😂😂 otherwise u won't feel like a foreigner at all!

If you go to southern part of africa, you will find mulato(mixed race people between black and white) or white people in south africa namibia and zimbawean or just like skin all over Africa sometime with green , blues eyes. What's make me sad , they racism among Africa between each other. I CAMEROONIAN AND FRENCH BLACK PERSON, AND HERE IN EUROPE PEOPLE FROM ALGERIA OR MOROCCO DO 'T EVEN FEEL AFRICANS. THEY FEEL AFRICANS WHEN WE SPEAK BAD ABOUT AFRICA OR WHEN WE HAVR AFRICAN CUP. IN EUROPE HERE IN FRANCE IF YOU ARE FROM NORTH AFRICA OR SUB SAHARIAN AFRICAN YOU RE CONSIDERED AS AN FOREIGNER. SO LET'S BUILT BRIDGES BETWEEN OURS CULTURES AND OUR CONTINENT.

Thanks Abir for the beautiful video. Been reading on Sudan for awhile. :) I learned a lot about the different cultures and traditions. What's the name of the festival by the way? I was interested in looking it up and is it every year? Is it possible for visitors out of the country to see it as well on a visit to Sudan?

A lot of diversity and there's a bit of confusion going on since there's been newer waves of peoples/migrations (last 200 years) but a beautiful country overall. Shout out to Beja and other ancient groups. Fun fact, Sudan has almost twice as many pyramids than Egypt.

Keep it up Abir ! As you said there are many positive aspects in Sudan that need to be highlighted, I am amazed by the peaceful coexistence between all these ethnic groups . People in Sudan have a great level of tolerance , however, political elites have not make use of this point but encouraged tribalism !

What a wonderful vlog abir ! Thank you for sharing all these adventures with us. I didn't know all of that about Sudan ( the medias don't show this unfortunately ) , it's just so mixed, so rich ! You definitely provoked in me the will to pay a visit to this country. The mango and guava episode made me so nostalgic about my childhood, walking around my grandparents' yard and trying to get some fruits (especially mangoes and guavas 😁) . Keep up the good work !

Yes, you're right! I was misinformed in the beginning then it was further explained to me on the video that Nuba are from the Nuba mountains in South Kordofan (not West or North Sudan) 7:03 😊

Hi Abir, Nuba Mountains in South Kordofan are in West Sudan. West Sudan is made up of two states Kordofan & Darfur.

Nuba are in West Sudan, Nubians are in North Sudan. It is a mystery to historians why the two have the same name. There is a few theories but I'll spare you the history lesson. Lol.

Majority of Sudanese tribes have Arab origin, Bani abbas, bani rashid, bani amir, al habab,Al hamdan, jalians....etc have Arab origin. Central and eastern Sudan is where haplogroug J is concentrated which proves their Arabic origin.
