Pierluigi Collina was unquestionably the best referee in football. No other referee came close to his standard. Football needs more referees like Collina.

Good luck with that. If you’ve seen how The Netherlands played in this EURO, you’d say that FIFA intentionally wanted them to win games. Against Romania, they’ve severely injured a player without getting a single card, and against Turkey, although they made a fault right in front of the goal and it should have been a penalty, the referee was “just blind”. I’m honestly disgusted by this EURO, mainly because of FIFA and its referees.

People feared him because he was so fair, never backing down, that when he was coming to get you it was like being rightfully scolded by your grandma in front of the world. Another thing: he was also loved, as much as respected and feared. Arguing with him meant antagonizing all the people who liked him (your comrades included).

I'm pretty sure this video is copied beat for beat from Daily Dose of Football's video on Collina. It has a very similar pacing, covers the same exact moments just shuffled here and there with only Totti's free kick added on. It's far too similar for it to be a coincidence honestly

However, Collina was not popular as a leader of referees within UEFA. There he used the "learning by fear" tactic and many football referees were/are terrified of him.

@@TPG128dude take his assignment like a freak of nature he would likely go beyond human amounts of history and bio on your teams just to formulate a accurate idea what spot you go what your players might do. whose the troublemaker and whose the one who does try to pick fights. collina is quite the beast of a ref. everybody knows you cant easily get away with intent fouls. you talk smack you get talk down by agent 47 does not get intimidated easily
