I think when the enemies stutter you have the chance to kill them when they stand still before they get knocked back . So if you have high curse and knockback keeping them in stutter mode is likely better.
Random events will occasionally spawn a Candybox you can pick up so long as you are alive, so Endless gets weird after an hour, thanks to having 15 weapons or something. XD
This game has a performance problem when there are too many objects on the screen and it gets worse when the area of effect of the weapons grows too large, it is not that it kills less towards the end but rather that the game does not load as many enemies. In addition to normal objects, Dex shows the damage done which generates many more objects to show. FPS and the loading of enemies lowers a lot.
