I had an intresting pose idea. Basically you could use a stand to lift up this "ghost prime" as I like to call it and put it above a regular optimus prime being stabbed by megatron or something as if prime is dead and his ghost self is rising up.
This figure is the example of figure that you want to get only for collection, you don't want to touch it, play with it because you are scared that it would break.
Just wait until you find out about the “Ghost” versions of Starscream figures, and there’s so many of them all because a season 3 episode or two of G1 had him as a literal ghost. Not even third party companies like NewAge can resist making their own versions… (Although I’d imagine not nearly to the same fragile extent)
I had that clear Abominus set from Beast Hunters. They were honestly pretty durable! I was also young and played with them a lot so the breakages were my fault
I love the way it looks but knowing how I handle Transformers in general when transforming them, with or without clear plastic, if I ever managed to own this figure it would probably break if I even breath on it wrong.
I had this one for a little while but sold it, since the clear makes it impossible to paint or mod, and this mold needs some mods to be better, but the clear does look awesome in both modes. I just wish these alternate versions were cheaper cause then I'd still have this one and the dark one you have.
I actually like the vehicle mode more. It hides most of the opaque plastic they had to use, and he's not reliant on joints to keep himself up. If I got one, I'd probably display him in vehicle mode behind my opaque one, like he had just transformed.
got a bunch of ROTF figures ordered atm. Have a sealed copy of the super tuner showdown pack with Sideways and Blowpipe which is exciting. Then I ordered 5 figure bulk which includes Sideways (silver deco), DOTM Jolt, ROTF Dead End (Sideways mould), ROTF Sideswipe and TF4 Hotshot (don't care bout this thing). I'm unsure if i'll open the Sideways and Blowpipe yet but I really want to. We'll see I guess.
Honestly it may have actually been even worse if they had used evasion mode prime for this… sure a much better figure, but the way he transforms would ensure his arms would snap off almost immediately… man clear plastic can be a horror show and figures like this that are made purely out of the stuff will simply never last…
That transformation... I cringed throughout the entire thing. Though I've never had this mold myself and it looks like it'd be a ton of fun with one of the opaque fellas.
I've actually had him for a couple months and I've been a bit rough with him, the only part that's broken is the joint of the torso but I think that's how he came as I got him used
I would not worry if some parts, like the shoulders pieces, are loose. The lack of friction between the plastics or the pins might reduce the chances for that piece to break.
i thought he was so scared of this thing that he doesnt say anything, but nope, i accidentally had the tab on mute (i really have no idea how that happened)
Give Takara credit for making what’s basically a ghost Optimus Prime as well-made as this. But making the entire thing clear plastic is just a recipe for having nothing but shattered pieces all over the carpet.
I’ve messed with clear plastic Transformers like Energon Tidal Wave and the RID 2001 Autobot bros and thankfully never really had any problems. This Optimus looks like a ticking time bomb compared to those figures.
I'd only seen your Shorts before, I didn't know you did full reviews. Aside from keeping the figure in focus (first video I've seen, so it's possible it's just this one) it's really good. As a side note, I never actually saw reviews on this figure, I didn't know his transformation was so neat. Okay, maybe the molding process is different, but with all the translucent Gunpla I've owned (never owned any full translucent Transformers) the plastic isn't too bad. Is it just Transformers figures that are brittle or am I just lucky?
