Join me to discover everything there is to know about the all new BMW X5, both the xDrive 30d and M50d with all their new tech including the Reversing Assistant, plus driving the SUV both on and off-road!
Hey have just been reading up about this article 13 threat that’s coming to RU-vid and the internet! Have you any concerns or thoughts what you’ll do when it’s passed in January? Looks like it will be! How it’ll affect views and potentially eliminate all European views you get? From what a read featuring any product or property that wasn’t designed or owned by you for instance BMW your video would be blocked immediately by RU-vid! It’s all pretty scary!
@Dave Graham To be precise: "Travel & Comfort System With two USB connections in the backrests of the front seats, passengers in the second row never run out of power. The Travel & Comfort System also includes the preparation for two multi-functional brackets in the rear of the vehicle. Tablets, clothes hangers or folding tables, for example, can be attached to them."
I recently sat in one of these fully equipped at BMW-Welt in Munich and i have to say, it is near perfect in my opinion, so comfy and spacious with lots of technology and aggressive looks.
The all new X5 is certainly much more sharper and sleeker and does look up to date. With added technology and updates to the off road capabilities and better driving dynamics. BMW have certainly a winner on their hands.Cannot wait for the X5 M after seeing this. Great review Shmee. SHQUAD!!!
timonxDlol The Mercedes interior is nice but also gimmicky. I have an E Klasse with the wide screen and the vanity’s gone. It’s still nice, but the simplicity of my Audi interior and new BMW interiors relative to Merc’s is actually really nice.
Shmee this is what you do better than anyone else, a good old fashioned(in a good way) but very comprehensive and thorough car review, excellent. Thanks for sharing this. cheers.
Tim I'm still (in lockdown in UK) working my way through your back catalogue of videos I may have missed when I was travelling between New Zealand, Australia and Blighty. Getting your viewing figures up! Enjoyed this video and Joes. Fantastic package the BMW X5 I'm thinking of getting the M50 variant.
As a 42 year old doing the school run the new GLE interior seems a really interesting place to be. I dislike the fake exhaust tips but nearly every manufacturer are doing that now.
IS A GREAT CAR BUT GLE BEING MERC HAS A COMPARATIVE ADVANTAGE OVER IT, BMW IS TRYING VERY VERY HARD BUT MERC STILL EDGE THEM WITH SOMETHING VERY HARD TO EXPLAIN, IS JUST SIMPLY BETTER THAN BMW...
For those old enough to remember 'Tomorrows World' (the whizzy techno inovation TV show from the UK)..Can you imagine what they'd mke of this back in what 1985 or so..like memory parking and the whiole lot. This car would be a Tomorrows World wet dream.
The X5 M50D would be my family car/all year all weather go to vehicle. Great video Tim, been waiting for this one. BTW the M50D has 400hp, not 381, that's the outgoing model.
@35:33 that left cover bit is a tablet mount slot. I love the fact they've added usb c instead of going with the old port. Now only apple needs to get with the times and update there mobile devices.
I think you should consider an X5 with a petrol engine as your next daily! If not an X5 an X6 which switches over to the coupe style I believe? You asked about a M850i recently as a daily driver Why not try one of the X's? Great review, great sounding car as well!
Gorgeous car but I would steer away from the M50D, with the quad turbo chargers, you're asking for trouble. That was very stupid on BMW's part but of course they don't care, it's the consumer who will have to replace them or fix them when they go out or something else for that matter. I'm VERY impressed with the Xdrive though, I remember watching an episode of Top Gear a few years ago and the X5 with Xdrive couldn't even go up a grass hill. This is a HUGE improvement! Def looking forward to seeing the X5 AWD reviewed on TFL Truck on the Gauntlet.
Not a big fan of those rear headlights. It’s like looking the back of older models of normal Ford. But yeah, BMW is climbing bits by bits ever since that M5 F90 was born and am happy for it. Keep it up Bimmers.
I love it! The only thing about gesture control... As you're driving along, you start waving your hand around... May this attract some odd looks from other motorists?
Get the 850i! But you should consider the 992. It’s amazing. Love the new rear. Not a fan of the Mercedes Amg GT 4 Door and the new M8 and M3 haven’t been announced yet.
Only 36mm longer? Really? It looks much longer. Saw one in person last week, and I would have guessed more like 360mm. Personally, I'm not a fan of the new look, but then, I'm not shopping for one anyway. Great video, as always, Tim. Cheers!
THIS should be your future daily driver. The SUV market grows around the world, nearly every car maker has one or more in their line. But don't take a Diesel, or you leave it in Britain. In Frankfurt it isn't aloud except for Euro 6d temp!
I have an x-line 3.0d x-drive - or something like that! arriving in July. Arctic Grey, Ivory leather. I can't seem to find out if it has the manually-adjustable suspension that moves up or down 40mm? According to the brochure, the 50d and the x-line have the same suspension options. Can you enlighten me? And does the towbar prevent the foot-waving comfort access to the boot?
Two complaints with the new design language: 1) the engorged front grill, obviously; and 2) this is really minor, but why re-position the badges below the tail lights on the back? Just doesn't look right to my eye.
Quite an amazing car. I have one question though. Is it possible to change the dashboard readings to metric (mph to kph, yards to metres) ? Thank you. Great content👌
glad to join you all today #Shquad, bless up one and all from BC eh as Tim I humbly offer you to come out here to do a little 4x4'ing we'll put that X5 through its paces out here in a big way! as always we give thanks for the gift of the day, may good fortune find one and all when most needed, appreciate the content Tim, everyone enjoy their weekend eh 8^)
@@Shmee150 we have some friends from Dorchester here in the Chilcotin, they are on a 2 year visa looking to immigrate out here, they love the expansive wilderness that makes up BC, thanks for the reply Tim, enjoy each day as I know you do. 8^)
Yo that looks sick wish I could own one of those. Will I be getting one shmee. Also this is once again a awsome video done by shmee definitely being a subscriber for live
It is the sensor which tracks whether you are paying attention to the road or are falling asleep. If so it will warn you and suggest a stop. You will not see the flashing when you are in the car. This you only see because of the camera (very much as you film LED headlights)
Comprehensive review. I have the current gen X5 but I am also tempted by the new Mercedes GLE, and Q8 for something a bit more interesting as the school bus.
