Yeah, same thought. That was the part that stood out in this video. It’s a promo at the end of the day. AEW taught these guys to make it gritty and make it “real,” and Punk himself has said that he values that about the company. I could legitimately see Adam trying to do that and unknowingly crossing the line with his words.
@@blablablaa14 the yankees line only works towards ppl from Boston though as EVERY boston sports fans HATE the new york teams. Punks from Chicago so you would have to do a rival of Chicago sports teams
Tony all of a sudden paying attention is gold ... Like "Crap... There goes the neighborhood. We just did this in WCW, & TNA, & now AEW ... why can't I just have a nice home?"
Back in the day, Tony Schiavone did a great promo in the Ring, as a Heel for NWA-TNA (Impact Wrestling). He had worn a beige/cream colored Aloha/Hawaiian shirt. I think that Mike Tenay ("the Professor") was in the ring too.
"Mick Foley, who we had here as Cactus Jack, will be their (the WWF/WWE) champion. Yeah, that will put some Butts in the Seats. Heh !" - Tony Schiavone (or was it Eric Bischoff, that had said this line) for a WCW Monday Nitro episode (which was also shown on the same TV network, as AEW's flagship show (straight from Daily's Place), Dynamite).
@@thejedimaster5057 The interview Page did was simply saying he was hard-headed and didn't always listen. Punk literally ignored avice from the Undertaker.... the UNDERTAKER! no they're not since most guys on the roster don't know how to cut promos including Page, only when they're shoots like this that will ruin the company...Page had to resort to shooting in order to make his promo become interesting but clearly we knew with how Punk is burying talent he would not respond well to this backstage
@@SuperChaos002 I'm not trolling I'm dead serious...when you get random guys claiming that you're trolling sometimes I think it may be you who actually is...ya know?
First off I just want to say from a fan point of view Hangman I would have loved you to have KO'd Punk right there. If that wasn't enough messing with Jon, Mox/ Ambrose was absolutely the wrong move. Punk is not the man he use to be, anybody can go watch you tube matches. He's not that man. Punk was givin more power than he deserved to start. Hangman was spot on. Punk is doing the same behind the scene antics that made his exit from WWE. Hunter knows and saw it before. Punk needs to retire and stay there.
@@codesm96 I could care less about cm punk, but you're right. Its the same worked shoot b.s promo these guys keep trying to cut. "This is my home", "I busted my ass to get here", "you're a problem in the lockeroom", "I'm here because of you guys", "We were never allowed to make it" , "I was never supposed to make it because I'm not big enough". And guess who helped popularize it by cutting only these kind of promos? The same guy that's getting it here lmao 😂
This was a 1 year kickstarter to AEW and Tony Kahn choosing to support immature infants to run their company and CM Punk having one of the most shocking returns ever to the WWE. Thank you Adams page!!!!!
At the time I only took it as CM Punk being a former WWE guy coming in and Hangman wanting to stick up for the AEW originals. Didn't know it was all because of Colt Cabana. 😂
Wild thing is I don't think Punk even cared where Colt went ... I think the others made shit up about Punk that then became believable and people didn't/don't want to hear him out
Now CM Punk in WWE shows up towards the end on Survivor Series 2023 . He’s not working with children anymore. H tried to help AEW get the ratings up bring back quality wrestling. Now he had to put a child in his place back stage in Wembley before his match. Now we will wait and see the night after on RAW , I hope he goes off on the where he’s been. And I hope he comes with the title X out the he never lost .
This was not just directed at CM punk, but also Tony Kahn which is why he hasn’t been on TV in a couple months. Originals like Page feel that Khan is trying to turn AEW into WWE 2.0.
It's hilarious that he's not on TV but the guy could barely stay backstage during commercial breaks at the recent Minneapolis show. He had to have come out with a live mic at least 5 or 6 times. Tony can barely keep the shine off himself.

95% of fans didn’t even connect the worker’s rights line to Cabana, and Punk’s reaction was to make a mountain out of a mole hill and air grievances that most people weren’t even aware of. And the fact that this promo stayed in Punk’s head for as long as it did speaks volumes of Punk. Like Mox said “fragile mind, fragile ego, fragile body.”

This wannabe cowboy and all the other whiny little nerds in his cliché are nobody’s they don’t even have the star power NWO had to take over a company. How are you gonna go off script without punk even knowing how is he now supposed to trust you in a match when you could dump him on his head intentionally when your supposed to actually protect the person you work with. And idk actually make money? Not do shit just for yourself?
I don’t get how wrestlers can get mad about promos regardless of if they get personal. The whole point of not having scripts is to make it more realistic and entertaining, if you get butt hurt and cause scenes backstage because of it then it defeats the whole purpose of not having scripted shit.
What nonsense. This is precisely why bookers and producers you need some element of control over promos. Not saying you script it all, but making it clear where the boundaries lie. All this backstage drama has taken its toll on AEW. Just look at ticket sales and crowds. It's diminishing because fans can't be bothered with this crap anymore.
The writing was on the wall that Punk was going to win way before hand. No hype. Page's promo actually made it interesting. "Maybe they're going a different way with this. Maybe Page might win." Hindsight, Punk was mad because Page was right.
Dudes like a jilted ex.....you once took a drink for a carton that was empty anyways and Punk will pretend it makes you the worst person ever and go to tell every female you know that youre the worst person theyve ever dated.
What, you mean being accused of something you didn't do, because the Klik 2.0 decided to pull a smear campaign *for months* with their little friends who pretend to be wrestling "journalists"? Because newsflash: Punk didn't get Cabana fired - that mooching jobber was a background extra in his last few months at AEW. The Dork Order aren't over, so why keep more dead weight around?
They were firing warning shots (Page, Kingston) for everyone to see about Punk. All the backstage drama came out in promos and everyone missed the signs (everyone remembers MJF's promo) but this was the beginning of the All Out CM Punk temper tantrum debacle. This a walking/talking Darkside of the Ring happening in front of our eyes.

Funny cause Kingston said basically the same stuff in the lead up to his match with Punk and he didn’t have a problem with the “No one wants you here” stuff
That’s because CM punk knew it was coming it was all worked into the storyline that they were talking about. However the Hangman promo was not talked about prior nor sign off on.

As far as I’m concerned, THIS is where Hangman Page turned Heel. It just took the company 3 years , their biggest star leaving, and opening their eyes to another young wrestler with more upside in Swerve Strickland, for them to finally realize it.
Schoavone is great at selling ‘oh sh*t this is real’. His face here and don’t forget he was on the announce desk the night Scott Hall showed up on WCW Monday Nitro and he was great at that too.
It was unprofessional for Hangman to go into business for himself and bringing backstage politics into it. But with that said no one even remembered this promo until Punk threw a fit about it lol.
Literally everyone forgot about this until Punk called Hangman on Dynamite MONTHS after this promo aired. There is absolutely no reason why Punk couldn’t have just let this go. Punk has reason to be mad at the EVPs if it turns out that they actually did leak the story about Colt to the press (keep in mind this has not been confirmed yet). However, in my mind, Hangman didn’t really do anything wrong, and Punk is being a child for the grudge he is holding against him.
