Instead of doing that, they release small quantities and sell out almost immediately. It's really an artificial scarcity, trying to drive up prices for the collector market. How they actually benefit isn't clear.

They have THE WORST customer service I've ever experienced. Took me more than a year to finally get my pocket. It got lost in shipping along the way, and it took 6 separate emails over the course of months to even get an automated response. Then I had to go to Twitter and their Reddit to get ANY attention, and I finally got an email because of it. Lucky they sent the product again, but it shouldn't have taken a year to get any response.
I had two go missing in the post twice within a 3 week period and I waited over 1 month for a refund 😢 I only got my refund because I had to contact my bank and file a dispute
I actually wanted an analogue at one point and ended up just modding my gameboy color instead. Not only was it cheaper to do so but it’s so awesome. I couldn’t be happier with it
Same here. I got a brand new shell/buttons and one of those nice funnyplaying screens with the option to enable a pixel grid visual (among others). It's great! My only complaint is how quiet the speaker on it is, but I've read that GBC had a pretty quiet speaker in general. I've also got a custom GBA, modded with a lower DSi screen (for that authentic pixel grid visual and less ghosting than an OG GBA screen--best of both worlds, imo). Modding the original consoles seems like the way to go, at least compared to this kind of anti-consumer nonsense.
@@teh_shaw4103it’s extremely common among companies who want their product to be “exclusive” and sell at ridiculous prices, like Hermes and their Birkin Bag or with Rolex watches, most products are typically easy to find and purchase if you have the money for it, and if stock is limited it’s usually because it’s made material that a hard to get or manufacture, it’s tied to a specific person, place or thing, or demand far outpaces supply which eventually resolves itself over time, in general, it’s really not that common
Most of those consoles were on Ebay even before the pre orders began. I had one in my cart today and after I saw that with tax and shipping I had to pay $70 more I backed out.
It’s actually insane how little they care about the consumer here. i think their products are actually really great but i can’t be asked to pay some scalper double or triple the price to keep acquiring Analogue.

I see tons of them for sale double the price on eBay. It is supposed to be limit to 2 per color, but I saw one person selling 4 of the same color. In reality, it should have been 1 per color. Not only that, but I had one in my cart at 8am, as soon as the store opened, and by the time I got to the checkout it was sold out...
It does really suck trying to get one. It happened to me last time for the Glow one. I clicked the process button and it wasn't letting me. But I got lucky getting one today. I aimed for the least fav color, which was the orange.
Last one to sell out was Red. Got right in and got a smoke version myself. Kept hitting refresh at 10:59. And boom. Win. Was my first attempt ever at it too lol
My instant question when i saw the post about these new systems was, "Why isn't this just sold as a shell replacement?" And im willing to bet, at some point some other group WILL make shell replacements and sell them for like 10-20 bucks.
I wouldn’t say they’re a scumbag company, but I get your anger. A true scumbag company does stuff like over promising, under delivering, or flat out cheating their consumers. These guys make a solid product so it’s more like a stupid backward part of their business model as opposed to the entire company being rotten. I managed to get a Pocket and I mostly like it, but my gosh you're right. My frustration with them goes back well before the release, when they announced it then went on radio silence. Honestly, the only reason I wanted it was so I can use the dock (not included) to play on a TV. Otherwise I'd just use a modded GBA with a backlit screen. And there's probably a better solution to that. Currently, I have no intention of buying from them again.
i didn't even bother getting the standard ones because that sold out quick too. Btw, i bet there options to customize the standard ones to have transparent shells and buttons already, if not, then in the future.
@@MonoDree pre-orders for the standard models went up at least 3 times this year. It was available if you were actually interested before the LEs were announced. They are coming back for Holiday season.
I had my alarm set up, added it to the cart, put in my information, and my card wasn't accepted 😢. A few seconds later, after retrying, it was completely sold out. Tried again for a color I didn't want, and it said the same thing. Was super disappointed. Just decided to get the RG405v. We'll see how that goes 🙃.
I really like the Anbernic products. I just wish they were made for man hands. I'm not 10. The RG35xx is actually really nice for the price. It's just too small. I use it all the time and was even able to install an mp3 player on it. Good luck and have fun!!
My biggest issue with them is their shipping charges. It shouldn’t cost close to $50 to ship one of their products in the US. They clearly use this tactic as a way to pretend that their products cost less than they really do. They have done an open pre-order for the analogy pocket but unless you got your order in very quickly you were stuck in the last delivery window that was like a year and a half out. But don’t worry they made sure to take the full price and exorbitant shipping fees up front. I enjoy my Mega SG and Super NT, but I’m probably done buying anything from them until they can find a way to produce enough product to meet demand, deliver in a reasonable amount of time, and be stop raking people over the coals with their shipping charges.
I bought an Analogue Pocket last Christmas and it’s great, definitely one of if not the best way to play GameBoy games. That being said, the sudden influx of limited edition models seriously makes me question their business model. Like, they can barely keep the normal Pocket in stock, how will limited editions work? Seriously hope they figure these issues out because the Pocket is great and doesn’t deserve to be painfully inconvenient to get.
Wife ordered me a white one in November....Of 2022. I still haven't received it. Super pumped to see them pumping these weird variants out instead of delivering the one we ordered nearly a year ago.
I had one in my cart but the stupid box wouldn’t register for the stuff it was telling me to capture. And what’s more insane the scalpers are putting the purple one at 450-500 on eBay out of all the colors and it’s the one I want now I’m debating on if I should spend an extra 150 for another color cause the one I want is way out of comfort for buying a system I’ve been trying to get one for like over a year

Thank you for the video bro, man there was so much true emotion here it felt like a weight was being lifted off of my own chest because these are exactly the things ive been wanting to say about Analogue. I wanted a pocket so bad I was so hyped, hyped to the max but eventually I just had to admit defeat its impossible to buy their products. It was worse with the first run of the pocket scalpers were reselling that thing for like $600 it was nuts.
I've been frustrated trying to get a pocket for awhile, I play retro games and I write music with nanoloop. Having nanoloop built in with high quality screen and audio in particular is a big deal for me. I just want the regular white or black one, can't seem to snag one at the regular price 😢
I dont think Ive ever commented on your channel, BUT: Best video you've ever done, IMO. Analogue make a sweet product, but its no secret there business model needs improvement. Im hoping someone else can fill their space and provide a better product and customer experience. The only other devise that is on par with this is the Mister. But, no handheld variant, yet. Emulation is ok, but not on par with FPGA, or real hardware and software. Ive had PI set-ups and have launchbox/bigbox. While theyre cool to have, its not the same as the real deal. Anyways, I wonder what next from Analogue; a sticker book edition.😀

I absolutely agree. I wanted the transparent red edition. But I ended up modding my PS Vita! If there is a second batch, I may want to try to net one, but I am not going to struggle bargaining with scalpers.
Sounds like somebody didn't get one. 😂 In all fairness though, I was lucky. I wanted the smoke coloured one but that sold out as I was in the queue. I then went for the clear one, sold out. I went for the purple one, sold out. I went for the blue one, sold out. I then went for the orange one and I got lucky. It wasn't the colour I was after but I'm happy with my purchase. I couldn't agree with you any more though. You'd think that if you have a killer product, you'd do all you can to get them out. And don't even get me started on the eBay scalpers. They're the worst. I'm not paying you an extra £150-£200 just to have it. I'll wait and try again if I needed to.
To be honest I do want a Pocket system. It’s mainly to play my physical games either on the go or even use their dock to play it on the TV. Granted it’s more for Game Gear and TurboGrafx 16 games than the GameBoy family thanks to our GameBoy Player. Still I am not interested in limited editions or glow in the dark. I just want the system and the basic black one to me was ideal. I thought I had time to get one until they stopped taking orders for them and putting this FOMO crap on. I am at a crossroads to what I want to do especially since I’m interested in a little more than the Pocket.
As you said emulation for those systems works very well. And there are some cheap handhelds are equipped with an oled screen and have a quality built. But this is the analogue model “highly limited”. Before they release glow in the dark those console where I stock for immediate shipping. This is the company model and it works well for them.

What if in this world, a company makes a 'limited' product, then they manage to be purchased by customers who just happen to work at said company, and then put them on sale on ebay to double the already over inflated profit of what is probably a 3d printed item.
I have a Super NT from Analogue and it was awesome. This was before all of the hoopla and craziness around them when they had casual stock pretty much most of the time. Now they just manufacture scarcity and take advantage of fomo and poor life choices. Thanks.
Absolutely agree with rgt on this. Analogue makes some fantastic products but their business practice of feeding off the hype and people's fomo just comes off as super pretentious and arrogant. The fact that they also had people waiting for months for their pocket preorders just to go and release multiple ltd ed variants within a few weeks of each other is also crazy to me. Much better off getting an rg35xx or game boy with an ips screen mod instead.
It's 8 in the morning. Not eleven. Where I live it was 5pm. And where other people live it is in the middle of the night. You would also complain about that when it was on a Saturday to Sunday.
Yeah, buying a pocket the first time around was so stressful I just didn't bother trying this time, even though I lusted after the transparent clear version.
I love my Pocket. I use it daily. I got it on eBay a year ago for $299. I thought it was worth it. Still do. I have a grey Game Boy, an SP with mods... and so on. But I play this.
That's a good deal actually. People cry about scalpers but honestly if you're an adult with a job that doesn't allow you to go online and you can afford one of these... you can afford another $100 to buy whenever you want, and if you CAN'T then you probably shouldn't be purchasing to begin with.
The shipping prices for Analogue are ridiculous. Not to mention if you buy the adapter set for the Analogue Pocket, it has to be a separate order by itself with a ridiculous shipping charge.
I hate scalpers with an undying passion. I wanted to get my son a Spider-Man PS5 cover and controller. I got the controller without a problem but the covers all sold out immediately and what up on eBay for four times the amount. I ended up buying him a nearly spot on one from AliExpress.
With the way Analogue is going, if it gets this bad, then I'd rather just pirate my games to my PC instead. At least I won't have to pay any scalpers then.
This is the real reason why I sold the majority of my collection. I really wanted an analogue pocket to play my retro GBA games but once I started seeing the resale prices and RGT’s emulation videos I sold the majority of what I had. Thanks Analogue for killing my love for collecting. 😊

I tried to get the blue LE but it went out of stock when I was in line, also I heard Retro-Bit back in 2017 had a similar version called Super Retro Boy when it was on display at ces 2017 I saw on RU-vid but has no sdcard slot though but forgot about it since there wasn't any updates about it so I guess it never became a retail product
I would have figured the video would have been about Arcade 1up. They started off great with really decent prices. Nowadays, a 150 CAD unit costs upwards of 500 CAD. I get there were some issues with getting components, but between mediocre quality and them releasing the same cabinets over and over again, its just messed up. It's almost cheaper to just learn how to build an arcade box yourself these days.

I waited 18 months for my pre-order white pocket. You would think in those 18 months they could have made quite a few glow in the darks and translucents to avoid this sellout. I understand The covid chip shortage argument but all they had to do was put a pre-order up months ago and they would be swimming in money.
They are trying to create the fomo. They are the ones really selling it on ebay under different identities. It's market manipulation. It's smoke and mirrors.
I sadly wasn't able to secure one. I was like up an hour early just sitting on the website and was ready right when the store opened and wasn't able to get the orange variant that I wanted.

Let’s just stop making that popular product and fart in the mouths of people late to the party! Wouldn’t that be sooo much fun?” These should be on shelves at Best Buy. In the masses. I understand doing limited runs on special edition items but their track record is obnoxious.
Modded GameBoys cost just as much or more. This thing also plays more than just one system as well. Modded GameBoys are cool, but if you're looking at cost and easy to get going, the Pocket makes more sense.

Was able to get a transparent purple. Excited to get it in person. Hopefully someone uploads an early look so I can take a look at the others. Was eyeballing the clear and smoke colorways too but went with purple reminiscent of my atomic purple back in the days
@@zacktaylor5891 i think that's a little backwards. atomic purple was always a pretty muted color. the n64 controller and the GBC that came in that color were barely purple. some people were/are hoping it looks as vibrant as the other colors because in the promotional material it was shown as matching in saturation, but in any straight-on shots it looked muted (which again is in line with the atomic purple GBC it's trying to replicate). they should have had more consistent rendering across their images for the purple. you will see a lot of pissed off people once they finally get theirs.
Nice Job RGT 85. I hate Pre-orders for anything Gaming n Tech Related, cuz the Supply is Low, the Demand is High and it's a Sclaper Market, gotta make sure it's Limited too 1 per Person plus have plenty of Stock at Launch. That is why I am hoping Nintendo's Next System is around Holiday 2024, not only too make sure there a good Launch Window Lineup of Games but there is a good amount of Stock Available and it's not Sold Out in Seconds.
The problem is the microchip shortage… Analogue business model is cautious and if they want to keep afloat their current strategy is their best bet. Unfortunately, the industry at the moment doesn’t supply enough in order to mass produce Analogue Pocket nilly willy and cheap, they can’t do much. It is more complicated than a Switch cartridge manufacturer which does a simpler job and therefore is inexcusable for limited run, but Analogue still has their medium sized business operation to care about .
Over the summer I had saved up for a TOTK Oled Switch and a 4K OLED TV to replace my old TV, the Analogue Pocket was next and i was going to be ordering one about now, instead I just preordered a Meta Quest 3 to have an entry into VR for the first time. Analogue made it difficult to purchase and i heard a lot of people having issues recieving units. I wanted the system, the dock, and all the adapters for Game Gear and such, i was ready to put down a pretty penny. But all those issues made it so that they don't get my money.
They are a great company. You;re just butt hurt. They dont care about your feelings. They are making good products and doing it themselves. I'd rather have them around than not.
product is amazing, and analogue is a company responsible for every retrogamer dream, i'm so glad they exist and product their products. the selling and shipping is bad, yes it is and should improve but the company itself is insane... i'm from brazil and bought bought super nt and pocket with major price increase and they are worth it.

Needless hate. It opened at 17.00h for me in Switzerland, right when my workshift ended. Perfect timing. Got in, preordered atomic purple, got out. Perfect experience.
IDK your absolutely right! and absolutely wrong at the same time. Honestly, if you wanted one and actually knew how to try and buy limited products you had plenty of time to get one. I was on at exactly 8am, added to cart, waited in queue, purchased my system and went back to the store page and could have bought another one. If most people missed it, they were not lined up at 8am, they did not pre fill their email/shipping info. Its like this with every company, Nike, Pokemon Center, Sports Card Releases, Video Game Special Editions - this isn't new. In this case with this many colors if you didn't get one than you were late, don't know how to use the web quickly, or lazy and now complaining about it. The orange and red colors were still able to be added to cart at 8:08am. If you hesitated than you missed, that's how all real limited releases are....for every company! No one has figured out how to stop the scalpers except flood the inventory which costs money that the company's don't have. At that point people complain that it really isn't a limited item lol (you can never make everyone happy lol)
