Didn't catch the price, but looks nice for beginners. Hopefully, it is less than $500. I see so many things on there that I would want to change. Drivetrain to a 1x, new air fork, hydraulic brakes..... But then again, you could go for a Marlin 6 in that case. If I am going to upgrade that much, a Schwinn Axum DP is better equipped.
Great bike i just got it.....but yeah the saddle hurts. I need advice on a new saddle.....is my only issue withthis wonderful bike. Wow this goes faster than my Schwinn 29 also i timed myself 10 min faster w trek Love it. Saw a Cannondale next to it and Shoot for this One. Tnk. Great and True presentation
Why buy this bike and then change everything on it? Just spend more $$ and get the right bike to begin with! Maybe a Marlin 6? $749 right now and all the bike you need.
@@JamesthebikeguyI bought my 6 two years ago and it was 200 less than this year. What's up with that? There's a glut on the market. Everyone has more than they can sell and prices are not coming down 🤔. Still love my 6. Thank you for sharing this with us. Good review.
@Harry Grimley Bike dealers don't make $200 on this bike so they can't sell it for that much less. Bike companies are in for bikes at pandemic pricing, it takes nearly a year from when they place orders to when they see the bikes, and once they pay the factory they can't cut orders. Labor & warehousing are all more expensive now. It's unlikely we will see "cheaper" prices in the long term. Certainly some shops and brands will discount huge but these prices are part of how it will likely be for the foreseeable future.
This would fit the bill or a polygon,at least 500 to 1600 should get you a great mountain bike. But paying 7000 is a complete rip off, another chinese carbon frame ,these johnny come lately bike manufacturers charging 5000 to 1400 for a chinese carbon frame mountain bike is INSANE.😊
You can buy/BUILD better components, better suspension, better GS, better frame geometry at that PRICE POINT. There are a lot of secondhand bikes on the market that you can buy at that price!!
The geometry of the Marlin is so bad and old school that I couldn't recommend this bike to anyone. This bike doesn't even have modern XC geo. Any novice is would have a terrible time riding this bike offrode.
this bike is about $300 too much. This video is practically an advertisement, not a review. If you are a beginner, you can find something used for the same price that is WAYY better than this
No doubt used is a better option If you have time to search for a deal, and know what you're doing. With that, you do pay for it in other ways, but a couple year old used bike when you're at the least expensive side of the spectrum plus a good tune-up will usually net you a better deal. Keep in mind though the vast majority of people that are just getting into biking and are looking at a bike in this price point may not have the capacity or capability to find a good used bike. So the reason somebody would buy a new bike when used can be a better deal is the ease of purchase and the warranty that comes with it.
@Jamesthebikeguy I do agree with everything you said here, but I still do not think this is a very good value for this bike. And I don't think you did a good enough job of showing the downsides in the video. I think you should have shown other bikes that might be better bang for the buck because this bike is simply not a $700 bike.
I didn't realize a new bike video required a search on craigslist to find something that you would recommend somebody to buy instead. This video is simply a review of what the bike comes with and who/ what the bike is for. At no point in the video do I give any purchasing advice. I Believe people are smart enough to make their own decisions and don't need a person like myself telling them what to do . Last time I watched a video on a car. I've never heard them say go buy a used car instead, clearly that's your opinion which is perfectly valid, but not what this video was addressing.
@@Jamesthebikeguy Yes, I agree with that. But the description of your video said "does this bike offer a good value for a beginner" and you didn't really answer the question. You just showed all the features of the bike. And im not trying to disrespect you here, I think your videos are high quality, but I think you should try and tell the whole truth when you make videos like these. This video was like watching a Trek commercial
