I'm not ok with Zoe and Kevin not being together it breaks my heart. I love Interracial couples I'm in a Interracial relationship I could not picture my life without her. Poor Kevin 😢

Love them together, but would it really be so bad if they split??? He'd be able to pursue his passion, and she would, too. Their girls wouldn't have to deal w/the tension, yet they'd still have 2 GREAT parents.Honestly, I don't want them to stay together, bc that'd mean one would have to forgo or undercut their own calling. It's inevitable in marriage, but still a very valid concern. Thoughts? Experiences? Let's talk!

I honestly believe that there is always room for compromise which eventually Beth did . A good relationship does not come easy and throwing one away without a good fight would be foolish to do. Not to mention divorce would not really solve their issues.

I agree. It's better to split and do your own thing and still be able to coparent. You get one life. Why does one person have to sacrifice their dreams because you have to stay married. Why so much importance to a marriage? As a woman, I can't even think of banking on a man for money. You lose so much power if you do. When a divorce happens, people act like you're robbing someone of their money. Also, to give up my ambitions seems like a nightmare to me. Maybe it's time we begin to move away from this model of marriage of staying together. People have careers and it should not be shameful to choose it.

Cynthia but yet it’s that same couple who manage to work it out (sorry for the spoiler) and yet other couples in the show of different skin colours have broken up. I understand the entertainment industry still haven’t found the right balance in representing all of us but people in relationships (all of skin colours) have fights, have ups and downs and moments where they can’t see the door, so it would be unrealistic to show them as perfect and completely in love the entire run of the show. I think this show has approached every hard time it’s touched upon so well and I don’t think there’s an argument for saying this is us is leaning a little bit on the racist side for who it writes to go through issues.

Cynthia hi! Well, in this show several couples have had issues before now. Jack and Rebecca had a couple of ups and downs, Kevin and his first wife got back together and then broke up, Miguel and his wife too although we didn’t see much of it because they are not “main” characters, and Kevin and Zoe have had issues too. I think what they are trying to show is that even when you have a great marriage, you encounter some problems along the way and you cannot always resolve them as easily and even if you love each other it can be hard. I haven’t seen the last few episodes but I am definitely rooting for Beth and Randall, I think they are great!

Part of adequate representation is presenting black couples as fully fleshed out human beings a which means they don't have perfect lives and they experience the same ups and down all human beings experience.
