$1300 is too much, but i can see why the price gone up so much with a lot of foreigners willing to pay it. At this rate, Vietnam will be expensive soon for vacation ☹️

😅😅 Daaamn the hate is real in the comments section aye.. I'm just a 44yr old Aussie Vietnamese living here for 13yrs... I've been through the trenches and back from 2011 till now here. Lived in all sorts of accommodations in that time and also in the countryside for the experience and seeing family over here.. I think I deserve an upgrade after some success and being here for 13yrs, no? 😂 Anyways, happy to share more in-depth info, stories and some of the assumed info out there about me for those interested. If not, that's ok also, I can only share what I've experienced that may or may not help you. The rest is up to you guys and your decision to take a chance on Vietnam and/or to do something for YOU. End of the day, it's your journey and your happiness goals. Find that energy vibration and roll with that. I promise you'll find it. 😊 But anyways, Thanks Peter for the hangs. Love your work brother and keep spreading the love and the assistance to our overseas Vietnamese out there looking to visit or take a chance here in Vietnam. Love and peace everyone 🩵

Thu Thiem area is for the "ballers" in Vietnam. This side of the HCMC area (District 1.2) is aspiring to be what modern Bangkok would be to the original Thonburi... shifting the already packed city eastwards. Fun fact.. Singapore actually has a big part to play in developing this part of Vietnam.

That's quite expensive. I've passed this area on the bridge many times and there's nothing around there. You have to go into D1 or take the long way into D2 to get anywhere interesting. I get the whole nice apartment building thing, but $1300 could get way better places in good locations.

Can you start asking your guests if they have gotten a Vietnamese passport or living in Vietnam by visa and if so what visa please? Trying to get my son a Vietnamese passport at the moment which all of you should be able to get i think. My first son already has dual but I want my 2nd son to have it as well. I think this would be good info for everyone to know the possibilities and if they had any struggles with it.

@devineone - a 2nd passport or dual citizenship is always useful. You don't know if your kids will want to live/ do business/ retire in VN, so it's good to give them options.
@DevineOne
@DevineOne Месяц назад
@@kitty_s23456 absolutely. It's good to have choices. My mistake was naming him an English name. Vietnamese law requires you to have a Vietnamese name to be a citizen. It could be a Vietnamese middle name at minimum. But I wasn't thinking at that time so it isn't on his birth certificate even though we gave him a Vietnamese name just not on paper. Trying to rectify that hurdle now.

Another question is - can Viet Kieu buy land in VN? Foreigners can't buy land (AFAIK) but they can buy condo units. I don't know if there's a special provision to allow VKs (who hold foreign passports) to buy land.
@jejudo3000
@jejudo3000 2 месяца назад
My bad, I should've added it doesn’t have to be a house. He could get a loan for an apartment or condo unit, since he is willing to pay over $1,000 usd per month anyway. Paying $1,000 usd plus on rent is just throwing money away in Nam
@kitty_s23456
@kitty_s23456 2 месяца назад
@@jejudo3000 I agree. Spending more than 1000 usd for rent in VN is too much, even if the view is good or the place has amenities. They could buy a condo unit and their monthly payments would probably be the same (and they'll eventually own the unit). Though they'll have to cough up a sizable amount for downpayment and have to work with a bank. Maybe they aren't keen on buying property yet. Their life, their choice.

@@jejudo3000 yeah it’s an extremely good price you obviously no nothing about Ho Chi Minh City real estate prices . That building is the high end Metropole condo and is walking distance to centre of the city . They cost 500,000 USD to buy . If the Landlord had taken their 500,000 dollars and put in the bank at 5% he would be making 2000 a month in interest. So the landlord is losing 700 USD a month on his investment his loss the renters gain . In the States a condo of that quality in the centre of a major city would cost 1300 a month in HOA fees and land tax never mind the cost of apartment. These condos are a bargain right now mainly because they over built the high end market and now people can’t sell for what they paid and have to rent at a loss . But eventually the prices will go up . Why don’t people know that Saigon real estate is more expensive than Thailand or Malaysia? If all you can afford is 800 a month don’t expect to be living the high life in Saigon
@sebastianniqvist3144
@sebastianniqvist3144 2 месяца назад
Nice place but definitely a bit pricey. You need to look hard and bargain hard. In less upscale areas you can spend 6-10 million VND 234-390 USD of course u won’t get all the amenities like a golf simulator but… do you need it? I would like a pool and a complete gym that’s about it. I wonder what local Vietnamese feel towards Viet Kieus having so much money to spend. Even the poorest Viet Kieu would be considered upper middle class and maybe even lower high class by Vietnamese standards. There are families of 4 or more surviving with 15 million VND per month. I also heard a kitchen assistant in a restaurant starts at 7 million VND per month. In local standards and for real local Vietnamese trust me Vietnam is no way cheap, fun and cool. These videos although informative just add to the resentment locals feel towards foreigners. In Thailand is worse, over there all locals would join a fight between a Thai and a Farang and beat the life out of the Farang.
@kitty_s23456
@kitty_s23456 2 месяца назад
Viet Kieu aren't really considered as foreigners (they're somewhere in between local & foreign, I guess) so there won't be much resentment towards them. But yes, having lots of VKs earning dollars (or euros, etc) would inflate housing prices & lead to gentrification. For many locals, life is still very hard. There's also the (hidden) discrimination (North vs South Vietnamese) in that ppl from the north (or their kids) have more scholarships, etc. (That's how it was 5-10 yrs ago, I dunno if it has changed.)

@@kitty_s23456 in my culture we also have the “American” version which are the kids of the people who migrated to the USA in search of a better life. To be honest we don’t consider them part of our culture and we see them more as foreigners.
@kitty_s23456
@kitty_s23456 2 месяца назад
@@sebastianniqvist3144 I agree. The VKs who are returning now to VN are usually children of immigrants or of the boat people. They grew up in the west and may/ may not speak Vietnamese fluently. Their connection to VN culture may also be due in part to the community they grew up in (if it was mostly white or Asian). Most of them are "bananas" (yellow outside, white inside). My Viet cousin (raised in Aus) called himself a banana. I used to watch the vids of Kyle Le, a former VK (if you haven't, watch them) but he's not very active on YT nowadays. Similarly, you have people from Europe (I guess that's where you're from?) who grew up in the US ("old world" to new world) who may or may not speak the language and barely know the culture of their ancestors. That's economics & migration, I guess. Nevertheless, it's nice to listen to the stories of VKs and hear the reasons why they returned to VN. Cheers & peace to you. ✌️👍🍻
