I think a dummy battery that comes with the camera, Bluetooth connectivity so you could remotely change settings or shoot photos/start taking videos without having to touch the camera itself. I find the Bluetooth to be needed because I have taken Astro photos, and the slightest bump would ruin the picture. Especially with long exposer times.

@@teccz Why not going with a 250D then? 4k 30 or 1080 60 - Except if you want 4k 60 then yeah its a compromise but other than that the normal 250d kit can also be used for streaming with dummy battery etc.

Pretty much what was mentioned, in addition to it being simple to use, configure and not weigh so much that it won't fit onto the boom arm that my GoPro 3+ is mounted to. I am not a professional photographer/videographer, but that shouldn't stop me from getting into it with my first budget mirrorless.

With multiple cameras (more than 2) I highly recommend a video switcher or something like a decklink. Multiple capture devices can easily tax a computer. I've had 4 connected via those cheap can't links and it works as long as your not trying to play a game on the same machine.
@JGJMIV

As someone who owns an M50, the one thing I would really want out of a budget camera (in addition to the points made) is for it to use the same lens mount as the better bodies so I can actually upgrade easily or not have to purchase adapters. Going back I probably would've gone Sony A5100 instead of Canon at the entry level so that I could have E-mount lenses.
@WolfsHaven
@WolfsHaven 2 года назад
I mentioned in another post that I went with Canon's SL3 it's not mirrorless but it does use EF lenses. Some really decent lenses for a fair price in the line. Some really good really expensive ones too. You can get a speed booster that will allow you to use EF lenses on the m mount cameras. Unfortunately you could get another lense for the price and most add chromatic aboration and other flaws to the image.

I got a Sony a5100 because you recommended it and I thought they'd be pretty common. Found out black was sold out so I got a white one, but there were only a couple left in stock. I think I might've gotten one of the last brand new ones and that was March 2021. It was a no-brainer upgrade from the Logitech c920 but now all the available options look so expensive, not sure what is a good recommendation if going beyond a webcam.

I recently got a Black Magic 6k pro. love everything about it other than the auto focus is very limited. I knew this going in and am ok with it. just difficult to be in front of the camera and deal with focus. worth every penny. i plan on buying several more for my company. i do need something nice to be in front of with great auto focus. but it comes at a premium. 450$ camera? i am past this point i think. I have no issue saving for a nicer one. each camera i buy for application it will be used for. the real consideration you kind of talked about is lenses. date the camera body. marry the lens.

What kills the budget options for me right now is the autofocus. Give us the a7IV autofocus features in a budget body. Another big win would be the advanced hotshoe so that you can buy the handle to add xlr later ala the fx3. Moving the camera from my streaming setup to my vod setup is my biggest inconvenience right now. Anything that helps manage cables etc would be a big win. Bonus personal request: screen that doesn't just flip out, but can be detached completely. Then you could mount on a handle, separate it completely etc.

I know you guys mentioned that new content creators don't need a camera like a Sony A7siii but I went straight to that camera right off the bat because I wanted to only buy once and I had the money for it. Also, as a new creator I wanted to upload in 4k60 to trigger the VP9 codec right off the bat so I can get the best image quality on RU-vid. For beginner, I would consider a DJI Action 2 camera. For about $520 you can get a touch screen that can go forward or backward, it can act like a web cam, still cam, stabilized cam, and does 4k/120fps in a small package. For pro -- I've seen so many reviews about the new DJI Ronin, and I would definitely consider that if I had the money. I watched an episode of Corridor Crew where Niko described it as his perfect camera and went into detail as to why.

I currently use the A6000 for streaming and have an M50 for creation, but just nabbed an X-T200 for creation as well (Multiple Camera shots while recording). With that said... Budget Camera: - 1080p60, 4K30 - Good AF - Power and use over USB, even if USB Type C - Unlimited Runtime for streaming - 6 Hour Record limit sounds reasonable for many use-cases - Set accessories for different use cases such as longer life batteries, mic input options Professional 'Next Step Up' Camera: - 8K, 4K120, 1080p240 - Better AF - Power and usable over any USB - Unlimited Runtime and Recording - Image stabilization (have the sensor be able to pivot and hold location when camera is jostled) - Accessories for varied use cases (long life batteries, incorporated power connector either via USB or a power plug)

For the battery issue, could you connect a power bank to the camera (itself or the tripod) and charge as you are using it? I think I read that you could on the A7 series. For vloging on the go, if you have to use a mirrorless, would you need a flip out screen or just a small screen on the front to show you framing and possibly levels? A 360 or just an action cam with a front facing screen for lining up shots would be great for vlogging. almost no weight. Another option is the DJI pocket 2. Tiny, light, great vid and pics. One thing I would like is for the video files to be longer than 15mins. A6500 does not have the 30min limit. Battery and Storage are the only limitations. Well, that and overheating.

I bought a brand new $500 Sony RX0 II that can take 4K 30fps. It has a flip screen even it is small, and I use it more than my ZV-1. It has only a fixed F4.0 aperture, only manual and fixed auto focus, and I use a battery attached and could take longer videos without overheating than my ZV-1. I’ve since bought a 5.5” monitor to check my focus and settings. It doesn’t do bokeh much but I appreciate the clarity of the videos and pictures it can take. It even has a microphone jack. Yeah, I can use it for live stream or video call via its micro USB art 720p, and full 1080p or 4K via micro HDMI with my Elgato 4K Link video capture.

Honestly, I feel as though big camera companies could step into the webcam market and make a designated webcam for streamers for around $120 EASY. They could dethrone the Logitech C922 with ease for around $120. Not everyone needs or wants to have a $400-$500 product for 'outside of stream' content. So why not invest in just a webcam that can stay in place and just capture a really nice image of a streaming space?

I disagree with the 4K 30fps. The vast amount of creators & consumers don’t have monitors above 1080p nor computers capable of editing 4K video. Cap the camera at 1080p will keep it much cheaper, more accessible and user friendly to everyone.

@@WinglessValkyrie you vastly overestimate the requirements of 4k30, i edited & rendered at 4k60 @ 100mb/s at my last workplace on an nvidia 1660 ti with no issues whatsoever. youtube compression also gives higher bitrates to higher resolution video, so even if you record footage at 1080p60, you should be rendering at 4k60. 1080p also leaves little to no room for improvement or adjustments in post, 8bit 4:2:0 1080p especially so.

Maybe a choice for the stock lens, where they kinda do the homework for us: choose lens option A for primarily pictures (Instagram), lens option B for primarily film (RU-vid), lens option C for streaming (Twitch). Then as add-ons you can choose multiple lenses - or if you want to do your own homework and get higher-end lenses a body-only option.

While not a mirrorless, I picked up a gopro hero 9 for $399 for the 4k30 5k24 like a year ago, and after several iterations of their webcam software and several firmware updates, the 1080p60 over usb works well, now has the ability to be used by nvidia broadcast, and can stream on its own to most live platforms with a phone to use as a medium. However, the camera is slow in its UI and often feels like windows 10 running on a 10 year old pc kind of experience. If running on battery, it overheats quickly, and while running as a webcam it often freezes within about 2 hours of use. I don't know if their hero 10 is any better, but I'm not about to drop another $400 on one to find out, because the image quality of the 9 just wasn't there even when it was working. Ideally if I could get the experience of the hero 9 with a modicum of stability and a bit better image result on recording, i'd be set.

budget camera specifically for streaming and online content creation: 4k60 4:2:2 aps-c sensor, a decent kit lens, integrated 4k60 capture hardware so you can plug the thing into a computer via usb and both POWER and capture video at the maximum capabilities of the camera at low latency, clean. UNLIMITED recording time in the camera, a mic jack with a decent preamp and adc, a headphone jack for monitoring, and it MUST have a flip-out screen (idk what's up with these otherwise fantastic sony (and other) cameras that don't flip around so you can see yourself when you're on camera). having a pretty high capacity battery would be a plus, but I've put battery cheaters that go to usb on all of my cameras already and I love being able to simply plug my camera into a high capacity usb battery bank. I put velcro on my battery bank and tripod so I can just stick it there, or if i'm carrying my camera, I just put the usb battery in my pocket, so I'm fine with that. given this hypothetical camera already has quality usb video capture and powers over that usb c port, I should just be able to plug a battery into that same port to charge and/or power it directly from the battery OR plug it into a normal usb c charger for charging in camera. AS WELL as having an external battery charger that also charges over usb c (usb is simply the best way to do battery charging). - for compatibility sake, it should also have a micro hdmi onboard in case you need to use it with an external video recorder or hardware video mixer or something. and it needs to have EXCELLENT auto focus, in body image stabilization, AND lens OIS that work together (my Panasonic cameras do this and everything is always buttery smooth). There should also be an open protocol for remote controlling your camera's settings with your phone including but not limited to focus, preferably zoom, setting focus points, focus racking, optional ptz functionality (with an external motorized thing), all the normal photographic controls (iso, shutter angle, shutter speed, aperture control, etc.), the ability to grab a raw photo while shooting video without interrupting the video, photography aids like focus peaking, zebras, false color, integrated level, face tracking, internal color profile support, maybe an integrated wireless microphone receiver so you don't need an external one that uses an open protocol that other manufacturers can support where you can just buy wireless battery powered XLR devices that serve phantom power and transmit captured audio to the camera, perhaps a lav box that can do the same (both powered and charged over usb c with swappable rechargeable batteries so you aren't stuck with an integrated battery that you can't swap when you run out of power (lookin' at you rode))... you know... now that i'm giving this some thought, I really should make a youtube video about this myself because there's a lot to talk about here.

I know! Not having to use an elgato 4k that has connection issues all of the time because the data bandwidth needed from these cameras is absurd for our usb busses. Having a mirror less QUALITY camera the can record for hours on end with enough cards without it being connected would be fantastic for video creators, but also performing just as well connected without relying on other brands that just don't perform enough of the time.

maybe have two tiers of model like the elgato wave mics, where one could be slightly cheaper, and then one more expensive which might have better picture quality and feature set

SO far i love the Canon EOS 80D with the EFS 18 -135mm lenses i use it for streaming as well as recording...however.. i'm stilling wondering what would be a good or budget 4k camera thats mirrorless .. i was debating of getting that sony a6k or something like that but im jsut not sture even then a good budget camera would be 4k30FPS , GOOD Auto Focus, Clean HDMI, Usb Type C, as well as 8hr record limit.

You guys should add full frame or similar sensor size on that list, because the G80-85 already has almost all of that... Just not the sensor size

Hey Harris. I love all your videos I have seen so far. I have a question and I hope you can help me find cameras that wont cost and arm or leg. I am trying to find a Camera that has a remote to take your photo. Do they even exist? If so, how much are they? what would you recomend? I am also doing this for a friend who would like to find a camera she can use to take photos with since she is also Pregnant and has 4 kids. I want to try to help her find one.

I need to upgrade my camera. I have a Logitech brio but chroma key sucks. Not sure if I’m using to much or too little lighting. The whole area is 24 feet wide and 15 feet deep from where I sit. And when I wave my hand in front of the camera I get white blotches appearing in and out. Mess with setting in obs and in the camera itself but idk not giving up yet. Also the height of the room is 8 feet and no ceiling lights. Just two box lights and a small light behind the camera. Ugh

Im confused, why are they asking for 6k, when sony a1 and cannon r5 both do 8k, w/ a1 not having a record limit...Also is a 50mpx sensor so you can take photos. Is it the price of the a1?
@tristengrant

6k would be more at a "budget" than 8k.
