On the dust extraction video, I don’t have a preference on whether it’s 1 or 2 videos. I’m most interested in what your goals were in tackling these projects, issues or problems you had to overcome, design ideas you considered, why you ultimately chose the solutions you did, some details on the build process, and how the components fit together as a system. And does it all work as you expected or would you do it differently as part of future enhancements. Thanks for the great content on your channel!

I really enjoyed the short shot on your dust extractor. What really got me was your Silence Box. It appears to do an impeccable job of picking up the dust and it was definitely quiet. I would buy your plans in a heartbeat. I can't wait until the next episode.

Ya know... I watch quite a few different WW channels. Denis' work demonstrates the difference between American and Dutch attention to detail. There's one American I watch that stands miles apart from the rest for his precision, but Denis....Like wow! the amount of detail, organization, precision, and craftsmanship with his shop just blows everyone else outta of the water.

Dennis, this is a comment on your body of work not so much this video alone. I really appriciate how you disclose your rational and thinking behind your decision making. You explain things very well with intuitive demonstration and explanations. From the tools you discuss on your channel to you design decisions on workbenches, I always learn something even on topics I am well versed. Thank you.

Really looking forward to hearing more about the new improved extraction system... Looks awesome and I'm sure I'm not the only viewer who is jealous of it. Shows just how far you can go with a relatively inexpensive basic extraction unit. Best wishes one and all.

You are right about that David. This system is so capable. My big Hammer and Felder machines require 20m/s at the dust port, which is 5 inches. I tested the airspeed, where I enlarged the 4-inch pipe of the dust extractor to 5 inches and had still 30 m/s airspeed at the dust port. So, this single dust extractor could handle all my machines, from small handheld sander to my big planer! That is amazing for the price.

Got my XK4 a few days ago. I bought it based on your review. I've been holding off on buying a pocket hole jig because the popular K brand was so expensive and it's made from plastic. It just won't hold up over the long term. I have to agree with you on going with a sturdy aluminum PH jig.

Thanks Dennis, great review as always. One comment on the "pro max" vs "build platform" - maybe it would have made a good point in this video (and this goes for lots of other tools as well): a comment on storage size requirements. With this, and like a woodpeckers-style drill guide, there are often lots of small things to store along with actual base thingymajig. I'm always super-interested in what is the smallest possible box I can fit everything in (even if I have to build it, but using IKEA food containers or similars for reference would work). A platform, it's flat, but it adds to what have to be stored, and preferably together with everything else. So this "pro max" might have an edge in that you do NOT need a platform. But the rods are this long, so you need a box that long, etc. Just an interesting point I would love for you to consider adding as a point to your scoring card in some way.

Dennis, you have caused me to become a Banggood addict haha!!!! In two days I bought 8 items based on your reviews. My pocket hole jig turned up today and I'm pretty happy with it. One thing I find slightly disappointing is that the "metric" scale is just the conversion from the imperial scale that uses all the same increments instead of a dedicated metric scale with actual measurements of common wood sizings. Oh well, compered with the price it is still very good. Thanks for the recommendation.

Amazing looking platform, well done!. I bought this jig and I have mixed feelings about it. The body is very well constructed and the holes it produce are very nice. The problems are that the drill bit is a total junk. It didn't manage to drill a single hole in pine. The clamp is also problematic, it takes too much time to adjust it to the proper material thickness. Half a turn is a difference between too much force or none at all. I had to boards one 17.5 mm and the other 19mm , and I had to adjust the clamps for each of them differently. I've replaced the clamp with a Bessey STC-IHH25 inline self adjust clamp, and I'm using my Kreg drill bit and now it works like a charm.

I really like your videos. I find them quite educational. I have a suggestion. For tools that you review from China Tools, in some cases they are copies of a branded product. It would be nice if you can also mention what the original product is, so that your viewers can do a comparison. In many cases, I would rather pay a bit of extra money to the company that makes it on brand. In this case, the tool is a copy of the Massca Pocket hole Jig.

Thanks in Advance.
@HookedonWood
@HookedonWood Год назад
All the upgrades work great with the two motor version, except replacing the control unit, that is very straightforward with the 3 motor version and reversible without the factory will know. That said. The two motor version can be run on two motors most of the time, where the 3 motor version will give serious suction power that you not always need. So you will switch this more on and off. But further than that, the two motor version os perfect

@@HookedonWood awesome thank you. Will have the Camvac in another room for noise reasons but will run it via an extension cord so I can turn it on and of from the workshop. I noticed that you places a small piece of plastic on the bottom of the guide to set the drill depth. How is that method used for the different depths of drill bit and sizes? Is using the other guide that comes with the Pro-Max a better system of setting drill bit length?

You could still utilize the extensions and stop blocks with the "pro" pocket hole jig attached to a base, as the stop blocks come with predrilled holes as well. Just attach a small piece of plywood to the stop blocks the same thickness you have used as a base for the pocket hole jig. you can then use them as intended. In the beginning of episode 29 you mentioned you'd review the "pop up" bench dogs in a later episode. I've not found them nor is it listed in any of your reviewed tools on your website.

Yes, My plan was to install it in my workbench vise, but I needed an unpractical forstnerbit that I do not have, so I chose tho work with a normal bench dog instead. Maybe later.

I notice that you've tried different arrangements of dog holes on your various workbenches over the years. As someone who is considering purchasing the parf system and building several benches (one for myself, but mostly for the London Hackspace when we find it a new home), it would be interesting to know what you have found works, and why.

Yea, I plan to make a video about that. I have got different accessories from different brands that works on dogholes. I am waiting on a few of them and I need some experience with them before I can make this video.
