Hey guys, Miles Edgeworth here, and I'm going to explain the joke. You see, when JapanEats crushed the pamphlet and said he couldn't read, it was actually a set-up for when he read the long Japanese sentence which is in direct contradiction to his previous statement. The double whammy here is that the sentence just means "Egg and pork with rice" which contrasts with the length of the sentence. It creates a powerful two-hit punchline combo that will leave you gasping for air. Alright, that's it from me.
For those who haven't seen it, 7-11 state side plans on remodeling their food offerings based on the japan model. Wont be the same foods, at least not all of it. Also hasnt been stated if franchise operations will be made to follow along. Now just gotta see how long it takes to roll out. Looks like new stores will see it first, but i have yet to see a time frame.
Honestly I don't know if they can bounce back. In my area Wawa has completely dominated with their not quite Japanese posh selection but significantly nicer setting and offerings. If 7-11 had tried this tactic four-years ago maybe they would have had a shot at fighting Wawa but their brand is all but tarnished locally, I don't think anyone would intentionally go to them for anything but gas now even with the news of this improvement.
@BJGvideos I agree a lot of it would work over here. Just not sure how well it would do in more rural locations. And unfortunately I don't see them stocking stores with different foods unless their supply chain is flexible enough. Fried chicken, sandwiches, and some of the lunches are pretty universal, but onigiri or things with unique flavors that I'm sure those that watch this channel would enjoy, probably won't fly in smaller markets. 7-11 currently is pretty bad at regionalization.
@@kennethloki7011 I'm surprised more places don't have rice balls considering they're such a basic concept for a convenience food. You'd think the US and everywhere else would love them.
JE is sad because no one is commenting about " after a three minute blast it was time for me to enjoy my Funwari-tamago no Miageta Yozora no Hoshitachi no Hikari"
I'm so glad someone else caught that. I've not watched the 'new' seasons that came out recently, heard good things about them though, might go do that now actually.
I just wanted to say thank you for these videos! I've dreamt for years of going to Japan, and I'm finally here, studying abroad for 3 months! I'm so excited to finally head to the places in these videos! Thank you for being so entertaining!
Doesn't Annie's make their regular mac n cheese with those wheels? I'm partial to the mini rotini-looking pasta from Kraft, cheese clings to them so much more so you get a real nice cheese sauce to parta ratio.
I like ur reviews mixed with sense of humour but most importantly I really appreciate how u always finishes your plate because people need to understand that food is a precious commodity and no matter what we should never waste it.
To be fair the michealina's cheese wheels go HARD. Those were the best growing up, i liked em a lot. Cant hardly find em nowadays. Always with the little obscure references i usually always get them, i bet if we ever met wed make great friends.
7-11 Japan has acquired Ito-Yokado, a well known supermarket franchise, and made 7&i holdings a while ago. They really crush the chilled, onigiri, and sandwiches field. Family-mart is clinging with their frozen meals but those are merely on par with 7-11s. I cannot speak about the details but they won’t skimp on RnD about these convini-meals.
I genuinely appreciate your style of videos. It's honest, to the point, and hyperbole is reserved for humor. Way too many food influencers will say stuff like "THIS CHICKEN IS BETTER THAN YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S RECIPE" or something like that. You just show us what you like and tell us what it is. That would convince me so much more.
this is the one thing im most envious about japan. i dont want cold sandwiches/wraps or vaguely hot sausage rolls as the only convenient meals available. no shops in uk do actual meals ready prepared as on my lunch break id like to get something reasonably healthy, fresh and also gluten free, so meals with rice is what id want ideally
Despite how foreigners fetishize Japan, their 7-11 is cheap processed food, most of it sugar. Don't envy it. its not special, its good for a quick easy cheap meal that isn't very good or very good for you
Aww, now i just wanna lisyto your videos with you speaking Japanese ❤ also laughed cause this reminded me of when the Simpsons went to Japan and Homer's "Duh" was super long in Japanese 😂
Whenever you show the inside of a convenience store I wish they’d bring more types of instant ramen to the USA. The American lineup is pretty limited in comparison to Japan’s.
Went to Japan recently, for the first time, and my brother and I were awe struck by the convenience store foods. At the end of every day we’d stop by a 7/11 or Lawson to grab breakfast for the next morning. Brought back memories of going to Sheets before college classes for a canned iced latte and pepperoni roll. I do want, as an American, to bring the hot coffee vending machines state side. They’d make bank here, and I legitimately miss them 🥲.
You said the words "Kid Cuisine" and a very particular flavor memory came flooding back! Super tasty then, pretty sure I'd have a different opinion today.
Your videos are my daily dose of happiness ☺️ the narration, presentation is wonderful! Plus i am a big fan of Japanese food and Japan as a country. I revisit the streets of Japan through your videos and recall my visit in 2017 to Nagoya, Chubu, Gifu, Shinjuku and Shinanomachi in Tokyo :) keep sharing ❤
Please do another episode of "Ranking EVERY Restaurant in a Legendary Japanese Shopping Street" and please make a playlist out of it cause I love binging on them
I'd literally have that every week if America could get it together with opening more Asian convenience stores instead of dedicated grocery stores. More reasons to leave I suppose.
I always loved the wheels and cheese as a kid, and was sad when they got rid of them years ago (at least everywhere I looked). Was very glad to see them again recently!
