The worst part about rock bottom, is that no matter how bad it is or how much we swear to ourselves that it will "never happen" again, it almost always does. That's how much of a grip addiction can have.
@Slayer-7373
@Slayer-7373 3 месяца назад
Yes exactly, I was trying to explain this to my family member earlier who was asking me how could I go back to the bottle over and over after all the bad that happened. I've tried so hard to functionally drink and control my drinking but it just never works. 6 pack of beer a night seems okay for a few days than leads to a 12 pack a night leads to more and more until full relapse and your drinking 24/7 again. It just can never work...

You're pretty young to be experiencing delirium tremens. It's not the first time I've heard of young people reaching that point with no return. It took me 30 years of drinking to get there. I drink beer, but beer and hard liquor are essentially the same. I can drink anywhere from 15 to 25 beers a night. I've gone through seven withdrawals and I know exactly what you mean-it's hell. Once you cross that line, everything you're talking about is 100% real. If you'd told me about delirium tremens before it happened to me, I would've thought you were full of it. I would've said it sounds like an acid trip or some other drug hallucination because I didn't think alcohol could do that. To my surprise, it does, and hallucinating from alcohol is much more realistic than an acid trip. I've been to the hospital three times out of my seven relapses. On my first relapse, I found Delirium Dirk on RU-vid four years ago and thought about documenting my own experiences to help others, but I didn't follow through. Now, after my seventh relapse into DTs and seeing your channel and learning about the loss of Delirium Dirk, I think I'm going to start documenting my journey and what I've experienced. I also follow Bat Country, Sober James, and Sober Dogs. That dude is intense. I watch others on RU-vid because I don't want to go to AA. I've been sober for five months after this last relapse, and yes, it gets worse every time. They call it the kindling effect. Research it. I am also a spiritual person. I've known this ever since I was a kid and used alcohol to block that ability, but I guess I can’t do that anymore. I need to follow my spiritual path. Call it a higher force calling me. By the way, if you didn't know, cats stand at the gateway to the other world. I love cats. Research cats in Egyptian culture-it's fascinating.
@Slayer-7373
@Slayer-7373 3 месяца назад
Kindling affect exactly!!! Bat country did an excellent video on this. It’s 100% true and is that have been through it we know how awful and “real” it is. It’s like an instant catapult back into insanity but it’s even worse than the last time!!! Please document your experience friend if you feel comfortable with that, there is not enough information and videos out about delirium tremens. I think for some very strange reason RU-vid doesn’t want people watching that stuff. In my opinion it’s because the booze business is a massive money 💰 maker!!!!! If you decide to make a video I’ll support you 100%. Congratulations on the sobriety time as well, please don’t look back. God bless 🙏🙏

@@Slayer-7373 Just a warning: stress and happiness are two major triggers for relapse and returning to alcohol. You might wonder why happiness is a trigger. It's because when something very nice happens, you often feel like celebrating. Stress is understandable, but happiness can also lead to celebrating, which may involve alcohol.

I totally get the "black cat" story. I was in a very abusive relationship and much later in time I realized there were always snakes and frogs at our home. We all know what the bible says about both of those. I even saw a HUGE snake coiled up on our sidewalk in broad daylight. Still, it didn't occur to me that maybe God was telling me to get the heck out of there before I couldn't!!!!

Please don't perpetuate the black cat superstition 🐈‍⬛ As a cat rescuer, this is a very painful thing to hear, that people still buy into this absolute nonsense! my last relapse 3 weeks ago was a living hell. I'm so sorry you went through that! I drank for 2 days straight twice that week. my mother called the cops on me declared me missing. We text everyday so she was worried. I didn't want to text because I was so drunk. Not okay on my part. I had thought oh I'm feeling better I can drink now. I got liver disease. Well, I got so sick I never ever want to go through this again!! I was freaking out so bad I could not function. Shaking, crying, puking blood, panic attacks, not showering (ew) unable to sleep, liver in agony. The pain had me screaming my head off into my pillow. I'm not lying. I swear. Never again. It really is insanity this addiction. This scared me sober.

I am so proud of you, Slayer!! You have come such a long way and you really have no ego with this. I have had many moments like this where I felt defeated and found myself crying, almost like I was in mourning..I felt like I had abandoned my friends and family and didn't think I could turn things around. I felt such grief. But here we are!!! The trick is to NEVER give up. I agree whole heartedly that change will happen whether or not you decide to jump on the ride. My spirituality calls it God or spirit, but you could definitely say it's karmic, or simply the give and take of energy. Whenever I'm fighting change, 10,000 things go wrong, and suddenly I'm welcoming change. Lol this has been the way my ENTIRE life. But when I've kept my eyes and my heart open, things seems to work to my benefit. I seem to get exactly what I need at exactly the right time. Whether that be a conversation, a bonus from work, a friend OR a supportive RU-vid channel. Haha glad to know you're doing well, friend!! Congratulations on 2 months!! GET IT 🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊🙏❤️❤️❤️

I was going down this road myself, been struggling with mental health issues all my life. I was desperate to feel something. I have clinical depression and I've been living with suicidal thoughts nearly every single day the past year. So I was desperate, tired to live with these thoughts so I started drinking alchohol. I've always had a high tolerance, even if I get blackout drunk I get no hangover the next day. I just sleep it off and feel fine like it never happened. Now my depression is better then ever. I found through work (now that I finally got anti depressent) I'm feeling better than ever. I still crave to drink alcohol, like get a beer first then 40%vodka or some other hard liquor. No, I'm not going down that road man. I'm staying sober.

I wish my brother watched your channel. His level of alcoholism is about as severe as yours. Last rehab stint we thought was his rock bottom. Delerium tremens, seizures, losing his wife and dog. This rehab stint began when when he was skin and bones, couldnt walk very far, cirrosis of the liver. Hes been sober one month now. One month ago today was when he was vomitting and convulsing at my parents from not having a drink in the morning. I fear im headed that path. I undoubtedly have a drinking problem. But its not that severe. My concern is that it will get that severe. It only gets worse. I dont want to go to AA though because i dont think id fit in there, simce everyone is in much worse shape.

I’m so sorry to hear this my friend. That’s unfortunately the reality of this disease. It takes and takes and takes till there is nothing left. Im just a few bad moves away from being in the position your brother is. My advice to you is get yourself some help, you are worth it. Stop it in its tracks before it reaches the point that I got to or your brother got to. Because it really does catch up with every single one of us eventually. Some can get away with it longer than others. My cousins husband drank every day for 35+ years, never caused a scene always handled himself well. Never caused problems but a couple years ago he was diagnosed with cirrhosis and needed a liver transplant. It always catches up one way or another. Keep me updated on your journey and please be safe!!! 🙏

@Slayer-7373 thank you for your response. It means alot...hearing about your relative. Because I've hung out with my brother before and would drink more than him. It was several years ago, but I think about that sometimes. Like maybe I just handle myself better or something? I really don't know, but seeing him is my biggest motivation to stay away. Far too thin, homeless, hair messy, etc. Literally someone you'd see on the streets, but my parents have taken him in. That's my motivation- to think I don't want to be that, but unfortunately that's not motivating enough for me. But I feel I handle myself so well that no one sees I'm struggling.
