We know from his story that Sendo is a decent guy but if you didn't have that as background, Sendo would like a straight villain, he knew what he did to Shigeta and traumatized him from fighting for life. That's some brutal ish right there.
Not really, boxing is extremely cultural as a sport practice compared to others. There is nothing you learn to do that is brutal/natural and it needs to be repeated tons of times before being effective and eventually putting more strength in it. HNI just makes it epic though it is quite fun.
@@carlo09kaloy No he did not, he resorted to cheating when he fought Mashiba despite being in the lead and afterwards he did become good but sadly he was in an accident on the highway after the fight and can no longer box.
For anybody stumbling on this that isn't a fan of Hajime no Ippo: This isn't the protagonist. Every side character in Hajime no Ippo has depth; and unlike most shounen where you're just waiting for the next big fight, there's no down-time. As in nothing feels like it's meant to be filler for the next big fight. Every episode of Hajime no Ippo is enjoyable. People disregard it because they see 'sports', but of the 513 anime series' I've seen, Hajime no Ippo is undisputed for me in terms of fighting.
Sometimes it might certainly "feel" like there's downtime and filler moments, but the best part is that those moments are both great for character building, and also have subtle moments of "oh shit, this is what I should do" or other personal epiphanies that tie into physical feats and fighting styles. It's one of the few I can think of where every moment significantly ties back into the main story/theme.
I started boxing around 2018 so my brother showed it to me, i didn't give it too much attention until like 2019 and after that i can happily say i'm up to date with the manga and i'm sure i think about it every day. I really love the funny training man and friends
@@YM-pe2ul Ippo will comeback don't worry. Meanwhile the side characters like Volg, Wally and Sendo are themselves very well written and can carry the show for a while
@@HarshvardhanKanthode the side characters are well done but the name of the show is Hajime no Ippo. It was centered on the boxing career of Ippo. Not the boxing career of everyone else. To flip it to everyone else (maybe 1000 chapters in) is hard to adjust to as that was not the premise of the series
Still gives me a chill rewatching this, it was the perfect storm of events that gave a glimpse into Sendo's dark side. Dude is a monster if you take him there
I understand Sendo's feelings, the guy was dominating him and would've beaten him if not for his prodding and poking. Sendo, in his mind, was protecting not only his but Ippo's honor. He couldn't let some younger cocky upstart take what was, in his mind, right to challenge and BE Ippo's rival.
No remorse in destroying in his fellow boxer. Some boxers can’t sleep at night realizing the permanent damage they did on their opponents. It haunts them.
@@somethindarkernah sendo wouldve still beaten him as he didnt went all out like he did against ippo and he tanked ippo punches as well the fck is shigetas punches compared to that 😂😂 if he didnt poke sendo then he wouldve gotten away with just one smash and sendo wouldve just let him sleep instead of making his head his personal speed bag 😂😂😂😂
I want to mention that Sendo's rage is definetely the most dangerous and overall hard-hitting type of rage, no screaming, no unbalanced moves, but a deadly concentration, cold-headed moves, a ruthless mind and this fear-inducing, soul crushing stare, the eyes of a predator dead fixed on his prey, you can't take an advantage of it but you damn sure are going to take these knuckles o' his, he's truly a tiger.
The fact he had a good chance of beating sendo till he enraged him by dissing himself and ippo like they said he def had the potential to become a boxing champion but this is life he pretty much got his career destroyed in a sentience
His trainer killed him, this would've been a good fight for experience if he was pulled out of it and learned from it. Even in the manga, you never hear of him again
@@ronaldomendoza7578his second AND the ref killed him, cause good lord, after the smash hit, I would have threw in the towel. Also Shigeta’s hands werent even up for the entire beating, youd think the ref would step in waaay earlier 😂
@@yarukay5749 To be fair he's the only Featherweight we've ever seen even land a punch on Takamura even on his Guard much less make him actually feel something from it. Also i'm like 99 percent sure Ippo's never even pulled that Feat off he's gotten close. And surprised him sure but I don't think he's ever landed a Solid Shot on the Big Guy except maybe in the Manga. And even then I doubt it and Ippo's had a lot more opportunities for that. And in the manga he's even technically managed to land a down on Ricardo Martinez. And we all know how much of a Monster those two are. So yeah Sendo's a Bad Dude I box good defensively and if he was a real person I wouldn't want no smoke with him.
@@dr.dylansgame5583 Ippo preparing for Jason Ouzma Fight. One of His First Legit Pro Fight Could Have Landed A Shot To Takamura,Why You think Takamura Elbowed him rather than Take that Shot ? That was Young Ippo ,and Takamura Avoided that Shot. This was Sendoh ,Not a Champion yet I think but already Above Ippo and Takamura took that *smashed* And KO him. Kudos to Him.
@@raulbetancourt5795 As he was falling to the ground Date was gonna throw another punch, but the referee got between them because of the towel, so the coach saved him further injury
"the champion walks up to the challenger, concerned for his safety." "he's become a gentleman, in contrast to his demeanor during the match" "perphaps, he's thanking him for the good fight" My body can't hold that amount of irony... maybe sarcasm.
There's a big difference between harming your fighter through negligence and harming him through a training agreement between him and his trainer. kamogawa is an excellent coach, he brought out all the potential of ippo
@@jiureful Kamogawa is a good coach no doubt but his gameplan and Dempsey Roll messed ippo up because he took way too much damage in his early fights because of "the get hit and hit style" and then he made ippo become too reliant on the Dempsey roll instead of making him perfect his jab.
@@HoodGon Right, but the two of them already knew that. So, going back to the first comment, putting the two coaches at the same level seems stupid to me.
@@_Azeem_ Sorry for replaying late but he coulda at least show Ippo some head movement, Ippo never bob and weaved instead he just took punchs to the face until he got close enough to land anything he also stopped mixing in his jab into his attacks which made him more predictable
Madhouse struck gold on really capturing how fantastical and almost godlike boxers move in the ring. The build up to Sendo's dash starting at 0:41 is gripping, and his second dash at 1:22 is a animation cut I will never forget for as long as I live. This is all amplified by the unmatched sound design of Masafumi Mima as well, really adding industry leading level of depth to each scene. The visuals couple with jet turbines and highspeed car engines is a match made in heaven. Hajime No Ippo, even after all these years is practically undefeated.
i already know that sendo did have a strong vessel to be a top tier boxer but like where he's right now ( those who read the manga know ) makes him a complete monster of power and talent as well , that monstruous dash against shigeta was so amazing and it was satisfying that he humbled so hard this punk to show him what it likes to anger a tiger
0:02 bro when Shigeta taunted Sendo. I knew he was dead. Also damn when Sendo beats Shigeta when he’s not even moving and you hear the crowd roar when it’s over. Chills man.
This is where a character is cornered and challenged by someone who is dominating them and wanting to break their spirit before going for the defeat but instead of accepting defeat they are ignited by a very intense firestorm riling up inside them to achieve their own victory to not only dominate the opponent that was beating them down but to break them instead and use their dominating tactic against them. Pure goosebumps when that happens :D
After that we got to see Shigeta later. It’s an understated moment, so it often doesn’t get clipped like the fight or the flashy bits. We see a man who talks normally. Laughs normally. Hopes, just like he normally would, to be back on his feet. And he does recover. For the most part. At least physically. But the moment someone raised a hand in front of his eyes, he flinches in horror. And that’s when it hits you just how terrifying Sendo was in that moment. Just how broken this man REALLY is. *Sendo made a trained boxer terrified of the very concept of a fist.*
Crazy to think Shigeta actually had potential to be at least Japanese Champion but he messed with the wrong guy. Taunting Sendo was a big mistake he took it personally.
well kind of, Aoki had a punch eye(from the time before he started boxing and takamura hit him) and recovered but i dont think you can recover from Sendo's beatdown@@gojosensei720
1:46..... "Sendo san don't!!!" Shigeta became overconfident. Makonouchi would go on to do something similar to Sawamura... He put that guy in a blender for being dishonorable to boxing and for hitting his girlfriend. Sawamura was a character that was easily unlikeable.
What Ippo did was child's play compared to what afterwards Mashiba did to Sawaruma for the same girl, his sister. Even Sendo's moment here wasn't anywhere near as brutal. Too bad that's not animated. Actual literal and almost successful murder attempt in the ring
This a great video, but it's missing the part where Shigeta is about fall, clearly unconscious, and Sendo uppercuts him back onto his feet just so he can keep punching him
I know it wasnt due to Ippo's words in this case, but every single time Ippo said to do smthn to a fighter in the ring, it has always worked thus far. This title defense, Itagaki vs Imai, Kimura when he was his second, and so forth
