In my Chaos Dwarf campaign I toyed around with the idea of trying to build a doomstack like this but it was so resource heavy I had already won before I got there. Very happy to see what it looks like.

Try another campaign where you make that your number 1 goal. If you focus all your early resources towards building up your capital city to tier 5 while only really getting to tier 2 max on the rest, you'll be able to build this pretty quickly. I've been able to get the unit cap and had the army half built by the time i confederated my first faction

I don't get this. Pretty much 50 turns in I was rich out of my mind. I stopped playing after a 200ish turn campaign victory with 15 armies, 100k a round income, 3mil saved up. As long as you keep conquering, you'll have more than enough armaments. I had a bull render, kdaii, and multiple dreadquake doomstacks. Like, the Chaos Dwarfs are RICHHH I don't get how you couldn't do it. Idk if you rushed straight to the gates of Cathay but I followed wherever the war declarations took me (entirely west because WoC, Eshin, and Dark Elves completely exterminated Cathay haha, had my long victory before my short), had plenty of time to mess around with doomstacks. My final war was against Mors. Skyre, and Eshin because I felt it was thematically appropiate if I was gonna have to kill Eshin to get Cathay and the gates. Why not have a challenge? Point is they're OP, I love them, might be approaching them wrong.

also works well with the fireborn. Large targets don't take that much damage from mortars. I like to use the summoned fireborn and then use a dreadquake barrage because it's *hilarious*

When I confederated the capital faction, I inherited a stack with 6 dreadquakes and 2 destroyers in it (and other things). It was good fun crumping Grimgor's boyz with the mortars as they came on the field with multiple stacks, time after time. The destroyes just sit 30meters from the border and blob everyone up. Good fun!

I believe the one thing that could actually fight back against that would be Dread Saurians or in other words, the lizardmens strongest monster unit. Toe to toe a normal destroyer v Dread the dread wins, without much contest. But the destroyers being unbreakable makes them far more dangerous... but again it depends on the upgrades and such. But generally a dread stack could beat a destroyer stack. Outside that only people that could hope to go toe to toe with it would be the wood elves if they just missile spam like crazy with some of their strongest units or Dark elf Darkshard spam or their strongest anti armor ranged unit.

K'daai Destroyers really are so funny massed up like this. It might not be the best army you can build, but it is an entertaining one. And Drazhoath the Ashen the Ashen is a great legendary lord for this doomstack.

It's different but I wouldn't say dumber. You can manipulate the AI differently and achieve basically the same thing on all difficulties

Kind of what I figured, during that huge battle he did I was baffled how some of the units just stood there and took a spell to the face, when I play in Normal they become Spider-Man to dodge a spell.

For healing you can also use one of the Ancestor Relics awarded on long victory, Braces of Skavor I believe: 0-0.3 heal per second in an area, intensity increases with nearby deaths.

Hi Legend, I've recently had a question pop into my head, so maybe you know the answer: what are captives? Im talking about the post battle options, when you can kill them, ransom them, etc. It always seem like they are just a random number decided by the game, but i dont think they are explained anywhere.

I believe that it is based of the total number of enemy casualties. Not 100% sure though but I have noticed that it will be a higher number if I killed a higher number of enemies

based on my understanding : it comes from the enemy casualties, where each of them has a random chance of being captured or not. The amount of captives (and I believe the type of unit they come from, but don't quote me on that) determines the strength of the varying options. It's a mechanic that has been there and never really explained for ages (Rome 1 already had it and I don't think it has changed in any way except for what the post battle options do ever since) As for the exact numbers, I don't know them, it's just my rough understanding

Units killed while they are routed are *always* counted as captives, as far as I know (Medieval 2 made it clear that you were capturing enemies when running them down while they routed), and I'm pretty sure that a portion of the losing army will be counted as lost even if they escape while routing, so they're added to the captives pool.

@@resileaf9501This commenter is correct. In my campaign, I'm revolt farming and deliberately fighting the battle with the intention of routing the units _before_ killing them. I'm able to get 700+ captives the very turn a revolt happens

I think you need to get the hero injured. The hero then transfers under your roster. The hero should stay since it is now under your roster and not just a borrowed unit. In theory that is.

I would have liked to know which turn it is, but yeah obviously amazing doomstack. The single problem these days is the fact that mobility increases from Castellan hero is bugged, his blue line skill doesn’t increase the army movement on campaign map. So kinda pointless to add him on a doomstack, or even any army not involving arty ammo replenishment, but I assume CA will fix it soon or later. At that point it will be useful again to add the Castellan… Although until there it’s not like it changes much to have a K’daai more or not, 16 is well enough. So you can surely let the Castellan in it anyway. GG, nice effort perfecting it for so long.

I did not assume anything. There is that bug in wh3, I tested myself in a vanilla campaign with Astragoth on IE, and with various armies, and then sent a report to CA. The bug exists at least for Castellan in wh3, don’t know for others heroes supposed buffing mobility of armies, but am definitely sure for Castellans. And if you want to see, check screenies i posted on CA’s forum several weeks ago. It’s the thread Chorfs Castellan heroes bugged (in maj) within campaign & battlebugs subforum.

It's a bug when they get defeated or disbanded, sometimes they get their title another time for no reason. Similarly, Vlad sometimes loses his surname after you defeat him and just becomes Vlad instead of Vlad von Carstein

@@monochromaticspider I was thinking more mass ranged + cannons since they are surprisingly good at shooting big single entities. + magical attacks. But yea most infantry wouldn’t be to good. Leviathan mount can have a fair bit of armor and resistance but yea she wouldn’t stand much chanse against destroyers. I don’t think any lord would do good against this many destroyers.

Wurzag with Rouge Idols would be better. A Waaaagh trophy or some of the Broken Axes food could boost it to more power. Or a Tzentch Soul Grinder doom stack. Use their range attacks and speed to kite and focus fire them down then clean up the rest.

I found the Destroyers to be kinda underwhelming against high tier units. But the buff from 90 to 120 armor has made them quite strong and well balanced.

By that, You could even ask how is this game even enjoyable? (I mean if you are a pro, campaing is zero rewarding, specially with an AI that builds non existant empires, with zero strategic defences/armys and the most disgusting habit of not engaging battle... (All can be fixed with mods but still... AI empires and strategy suck)

@@kerwynpk Intent is in the brain of the "intentee" and words have power, despite people trying to twist and diminish them. Clear communication is the key and it's basis for mutual understanding. Thinking of it as a "moral highground" puts you in the defensive position, setting you up for failure in understanding one another. Meaning - not everything you don't understand/like is meant to attack you. And yeah but actually nah - sometimes people are just far ahead of you in terms of growth and you just have to accept that. That hero got order to withdraw from battlefield, he ignored it, turn back and attacked Karl. Twice. Remember those people telling DO she is stupid and its her own fault when she was raging because units dont follow orders? Yeah... But CA solved it, they pretend like there is no problem so they dont have to fix anything. Cavalery stoping mid-charge into archers, standing in front of them, getting slaughtered. Melee units defeat and route enemy unit and instead of following and killing it (which they are ordered to do) they stand still, letting enemy unit leave and regroup and shoot them if they are archers. Your archers not shooting at enemy units if you give them manual order and sometimes not even on fire-at-will. But thats ok bcs thats LOS and its you own fault. You should have given them glasses bcs archers are recruited from citizen with the weakes eyesight and you should know that and not expect them to see enemy 30m away on completely flat ground. But we are getting new paid DLCs! And new game! Pharawhat was its name?

You forgot your monsters/lords/cavalry pushing the enemy lords/heroes towards the map exit instead of killing them - which surprisingly never (atleast for me) happens if it's the AI chasing yours.

Also if you have dreadsaurian surrounded by AI goblin spearmen you can say good bye to him bcs he is never going to move an inch and he is not going to fight either bcs he always want to attack some goblin behing his back (i think is the problem) and he cant turn so he just stand. But if AI bright wizard is surrounded by 2000 of your polearm chosen? He just walks away like nobody care. Or you can attack enemy archers with your lord and they just keep shooting despite being in melee. If enemy units get like 20m close to your archers, they throw away theire bows and charge into melee. AI just has its own rules and even tho it bothers me i can understand that since i have little bit of insight into programing and creating decent AI is pretty much pinacle of what you can do. But i dont understand how is it possible that player controled units sometime work and sometime decide to do nothing. Thats not AI problem.

@@shmekelfreckles8157 Its not always but it happens. And sometimes a lot. Firts i thought it was problem of some races but it isnt. And it happened to me that i had to quit campaign bcs units didnt work at all and later that same faction was ok. Some poeple (including Legend) say they dont notice it but there are people who do. Also notice legend has high amout of micro. If his units drop order he will fix it immediately, possibly not even noticing but you can look up his Hobgoblin archer doomstack video where he notices his archers are not shooting. He said that is was LOS problem but battlefield was flat.

Do you take your units out of guard mode? Those problems sound like things that my units do if I leave them on guard mode. They stop chasing units off the field and stop. When I take them off of guard mode they keep chasing until I give them a new order. The archer LOS bit you mentioned is something else tho and yeah a problem for CA

As awesome as this is, I think the grail guardians from a few days ago are still my favorite of all time. I hope they keep the cav changes like they are and even extend them to other units that are supposed to behave that way.

I hope they change cold one riders to be more like that. It’s 7’ lizard people riding on giant raptors. Why do they act like the hit a brick wall when I run then into a tier one unit?

@@kylehalvorson6907 Their issue is mainly their garbage turn rate and acceleration. Once they stop, good luck getting them anywhere. Despite having one of the highest mass per unit for a cav unit.

I like the balanced armies. While I think that everyone should build at least once a doom stack with every faction to have fun but its getting old pretty quick, at least for me.

I never understand these videos. Are you testing the unit or the army? It just seems like a waste of slots to just not use 3 units. While I get not running around taking it the army with the heros and lord they should still be used if they are part of the army otherwise just take them out and add 2 more units you will use. I think you go from one extreme of taking out the army with the single entities to just not using them. There is a balance. You obviously didn't need them, but what is the point of even having them?
