Maybe it was because I had never caught so many trout in one day.
Maybe it was because for once I felt like I became one with my rod and reel.
I can't really say, but after a trip up to this stream in March of 2022, I only picked up my spinning rods one more time. And then it was all about finding new BFS combos and lures that would help me catch fish in specific scenarios.
There's a risk in going back to a special place when conditions are drastically different. Kind of like eating the foods you enjoyed as a kid or seeing the girl you thought was so hot in school. They can lose their appeal a bit.
The memories are still there, but they'll be forever changed.
Well, I can say after my return trip - this place is still special to me.

PS , I forgot to mention , I take spare braid in case of a bad birds nest , and now with the decent budget reel from Ali Express , I carry a spare reel fully spooled up .Tight Lines .

I recently have started BFS fishing for bass. But, I am fishing from a boat in lakes with small fish. It continues to amaze me how you can find trout in these really shallow streams. You mentioned how the dry weather had decreased the stream. Where do these trout go when there is no rain? Do you loose an entire generation of fish population? Thanks for the video.

Most of the streams I fish are not wild reproduction - they are stocked anually. but, in the wild streams, they stay in deep riffles and pools. for native streams, I personally wouldn't target them in harsh, low-water conditions just to ensure their survival. That being said, I've been amazed where I have found stocked trout thriving in the August heat and low water conditions in the area. And welcome to the BFS side of fishing! It has really changed the way I fish and think about artificial lure presentation - and I think I'm up to at least 14 PB's in the last 2 calendar years using BFS, with a few more I hope to add to that number over the rest this year.

I had the same issue Yesterday. I had some mono line that I tried but it was not good. I actually had my DWU in my bag that I switched to.

I have to admit fishing that creek with that setup can't be easy but yet you make it look effortless!!! I could see myself going home with absolutely no line left on my baitcaster! haha

Wow, that was really low. Its so tough when the water is so low and clear like that. Still looked like a great day to be out on the creek.

I don't have special places as such , - but memories of special days , as you found with the river , it can change , but its often worth going when the river is low , because as you said , you see where the dips and pools are (and the snags) . You probably caught and had more takes than the other guys because you stood back from the edge . Awesome stretch of river - when I pass huge boulders like those , I always think how puny we are in the scheme of things lol , tight lines .

Good job Aaron , not so easy water was crazy shallow and clear, the trouts can see everything ! For trout I can recommend Duo Ryuki spearhead there is also a version with two single hooks !

That was a nice rainbow you caught in there. That's about as scenic as it gets too. Very cool place. I was surprised those deeper holes weren't full of fish towards the end, but it makes sense if they are hit harder by pressure. Thanks for sharing Aaron!

Yep, even on a slopw day, scenery like that makes it so nice. More trout trips coming thorugh the spring!
