my dad used to record his music with a dutch guy that was the same soundman for mayhem, he told me quite some stories about and it's just so crazy to think about that that same guy saw the bandmembers in person... wonder what kinda experience that was lol

I'm from Sarpsborg and I was there when it happend. The venue was called "Furuheim" Good times. The big thing on the music scene in Sarpsborg back then was the powermetal band "Artch", and the trashmetal band "Witchhammer" Artch had full score from Kerrang for their debut album "Another Return To Church Hill". Witchhammer has reach close to cult status among underground trash metal fans all over the world. They was pioneers. Check out both bands. They're great! The song "Enola Gay" from Witchhammer are legendary. (Enola Gay was the name of the airplane dropping the bomb on Hiroshima)

Indeed, Mauricio "Bullmetal" Montoya did the first press of that bootleg. Also, Bullmetal was the drummer of the Colombian Death Metal band "Masacre", and later he created his own Black Metal band called "Typhon". Allegedly, Dead gave as a gift to Bullmetal, the lyrics of "Life Eternal", which Bullmetal recorded with his band Typhon. After Dead's suicide Euronymous decided to record Mayhem's own version of "Life Eternal" in "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas". Of course, Mayhem's version is way better, but it is a cool story.

It's said that Bullmetal died a couple of years after he first pressed that bootleg, some say he committed suicide, others say he died of HIV.

Just bought a vinyl version of dawn of the black hearts af a small festival. Of course a re-release from 2022 but what a find. Cadaver Splatter vinyl. Only 300 pcs. 60€. So fairly cheap. Great vlog btw just subscribed. Thnks for sharing this

You would be hard pressed to find a better guitar player than Vito Bratta of White Lion. He walked away from all of it, the music and fame and ultimately the stacks of money. Stayed in New Jersey to take care of his aging parents. I loved the part of this video that featured the older gentleman learning about metal, that was great!

I am from Sarpsborg, and at 07:02 where he says: "Oooh, look, a black house", that house was actually where Slusk Records was in the first floor, and where I had my record shop. Metallion worked there for/with me, and and Øystein and Pelle of Mayhem actually stayed there at a sofa in the back room and had a party there with the rest of us before NM i Rock (Norwegian Rock Championship / Battle Of The Bands) in 1990. I also attended the gig at Furuheim. I should've been the tourguide for you guys! 😂😂😂
